I am thankful for John Mc Carther for reminding us that every word we hear, every voice, every thought needs to be captured & brought before The Lord & filtered through The Word of God which IS The Christ. The Word IS absolute authority on what is the will and truth of God. Today with social media, tv, pod cast, radio, demonic/horror movies, tv shows, ect we add many other influences & opinions, BUT you take time to stop, silence all other voices, & read The Bible/listen for The Holy Spirit to reveal/speak to you. May God's people delight in His Word, weep for the lost, and rise wise warriors gaining victory over satan in Jesus's name in every situation/battle in our lives. JESUS IS LORD & HAS DEFEATED SATAN. We are fighting a war that has been won. What role does God have 4 you/I to play? Oh! Bless The name of The Lord!! Have a wonderful day in The Spirit everyone! GOD LOVES YOU!!!

Well said brother! Col 3:16 describes faith with The Holy Spirit as 'Letting the word of Christ dwell in you richly.' This is a characteristic of all true followers of Christ! I am overwhelmed with happiness to see others examining doctrine and combing through The Word of God to reach a righteous understanding.

I agree about not adding or taking away from doctrine, but God has guided my earthly father through God’s Holy Spirit on some decisions he was to make in his life. And God has also given me instructions in my life through his Holy Spirit.

How do we know when it's the holy spirit? A feeling or a "voice" on the inside? I'm struggling with this. How do u know when the holy spirt is guiding u? Again, I'm struggling with this.

When God asked my earthly father to quit his job he asked God to give him confirmation through his wife. And God did! (I think it was Gideon in the Old Testament that did something similar). As a child I talked to God all the time when I was alone out in the woods trying to figure things out. I did not always come out of the woods with the answers, but I always came out of the woods feeling better, knowing it would be alright. But the first time I really heard Gods voice was when I was an adult at the hospital with my fiancé in a coma from a bad car wreck. A calm came over me and I heard God, through his Holy Spirit, say “It’ll be alright”. I did not know if that meant I would have to quit my job and sell everything to take care of her, but I knew it would be alright. I was still plagued by fear at times, but she made a miracle recovery. I have heard his voice sense then and conversed briefly at times, but it was like I knew his voice. All that said, I also heard a voice when I was praying on some things and that voice did not feel/seem like God’s voice and so I kept an eye on things and when they did not go as the voice had said I knew/confirmed it was not from God. I had not heard God’s voice in a long time, that I know of, and do not need to in order to know and love him, as I have his written word and faith. Sorry I cannot give you a more definitive answer other than read and study God’s word to know him, and talk to him as if he is really there. God answers in his way in his time. No one has a strong relationship with people they do not spend time with. Hope that helps.

To get a more comprehensive view, including more scripture and detailed references, seek out Justin Peters presentation on this topic. In addition read 'God Doesn't Whisper' by Jim Osman. “Discernment is not a matter of simply telling the difference between right and wrong, it is telling the difference between right and almost right.” - C.H. Spurgeon

Excellent resources. God Doesn’t Whisper was such a help to me after years of popular teachers saying the only way for me to really have a relationship with God is to hear him speaking to me- so stop talking at Him and be quiet and listen. And when I did…silence. I just sort of assumed I wasn’t spiritual enough. What I really needed was, and still is, to hear God speak through His all- sufficient Word, the Bible. God bless.

Johnny you say ..is that a way to belittle him??...but I digress, there are some things I don't agree with him with, but he's speaking the truth here...instead of belittling people...use Bible to refute him and please divide the Word Correctly as stated by Paul 2Timothy 2:15.

@@carlogeorge2349 I wasn’t belittling him. I was sort of playing on the ‘here’s Johnny’ like on the Johnny Carson show. But you tell me to answer with scripture then you add to rightly divide. I’m not sure what the difference is. If I’m answering with scripture honestly, would that not fall under a right divide?

I absolutely agree that there are no extra revelations.
But this seems to be a reductionist view of how God speaks.
What about answered prayers for example. Isn't this a way God speaks?
And what about the inner witness of the Spirit? (working together with the bible)
And I , because I am reformed, believe that God, because he's sovereign, can speak through circumstances.
(Sorry for my bad English, it's not my mother tongue.)

    • @srohre9513
      @srohre9513 Před rokem

God answers ALL my prayers. Sometimes the answer is Yes, No or No Not at this time. However, it's never through some inner impression or tuning to just the right frequency (i.e. a 6th sense). There is a big distinction between Providence and Intuition. Try reading Decision Making and the Will of God: A Biblical Alternative to the Traditional View by Gary Friesen.

0:57 When John finished Revelation, he must have know his work would be compiled together with 65 other books and letters, written across centuries of time by dozens of authors...
or maybe that warning only applies to Revelation.
For all his blustering about the value of scripture - does he even read it all that carefully? It worries me that he's willing to jam his own opinions in when it suits his presuppositions.
2:15 a wonderful example only a minute later. "Beyond scripture" -- in a time long before there was a canon, long before the concept was even formalized. Paul didn't know he was writing scripture - and he had no qualms about writing down his revelations (as in Galatians). Maybe Paul's vision of heaven was like the scroll that John got in Revelation - which must be sealed up until the proper time?
