The baker claiming to be more danish than in Denmark is probably right. My grandfather who was a baker often complained that the pastries were more and more about profits than the craftmanship

More danish than Denmark i taking it a bit far. But it obviously represents danish traditions as they were at a certain time in history. Of course Denmark is no longer that way as traditions progress in the native land, whereas the point in Solvang seems to be to keep those exact traditions alive and not let them transform. Being from Denmark, I will definitely give Solvang a visit when I come to CA. If nothing else it sure looks hyggeligt.

Solvang has definitely got a place on my to visit list, looks amazing and seem to have captured a good deal of the Danish spirit, except for parenting.
A few things strike me though, Smorgasbord? That's the Swedish equivalent of "Det kolde bord" in Danish (Buffet with cold dishes, usually eaten with and on lots of ryebread).
We still got all the bakery, round one is a spandauer, hanekam is a simple wienerbrød.
Also it's a shame to use those American icecream cones, instead of Danish ones.

Hi a Dane here, Great Video found it very personal, thats great. I totally agree that the bakery that went out of production was great, cant remember its name, i think the reason why some things wents out of production be course its not only that product, is be course there goes a trend in boying specicik things kind of jante low, or not boying things, though its good, no ones just boys its its a shame, i would love to go to solvang one day and boy your bread, jante low is decaying in dk.

As a Dane who has visited Solvang, I can say with 100% certainty that it bears no resplendence to Denmark whatsoever. Had it not been for the partially Danish text on various things, I would never have guessed that they were trying to copy my homeland.
At best it is a sort of cheap plastic knock off. You know, the kind that just about looks passable in dim light and from the right angle, but as soon as you take a proper look at it, you instantly see that it just isn't right.

Justin, The funny thing is that the Danish that you get in America is not really the same as the ones you get in Denmark (where we are not calling them danishes but wienerbrød). On www.Danes.tv I'm making map of Danes in America. It will go live February 28th. The map will also contain danish places. Here you will find Danish bakeries. They all make the original danishes as they tast in Denmark.
Also in Denmark we don't have chesse danishes. That an American thing :)
