Lucky was very good to me and I totally appreciated knowing him and getting the coolest stories you've ever heard !
@Eclipse538 Does the Library of Congress (or another huge organization) have a National Television Archive for the US?! You should simply have access to ANY television footage ever broadcast.
Sounds wicked. I am imagining what a whole V12 Merlin would sound like in this, semi enclosed space. Honestly, I am not crazy about the looks, but to each his own.
I remember seeing this bike on 60 Minutes Australia somewhere around 1980 (I was 9). It was built in his garage, if memory serves.... It's responsible for my love of riding big bikes (It was a "I wanna do THAT" moment lol).
I saw it at a Nomads bike show back in the 80`s. BMW Twins will sway from side to side on and off the throttle. This is the only twin I`ve ever seen that compressed the front end on and off the throttle.
I had a playing card with this bike on it as a kid. Crazy to see it's still the same bike (now with a silly nose cone on it) and to finally hear what it sounds like 30 years later.
Oh that thing is just SICK! LoL. Imagine having to hold that starter in place while busting this beast off, only to have 5000 cc worth of blown twin exhaust being funneled right to your bit'ness! It's a helluva feat of engineering for sure. If all else fails, bolt on more horsepower... copius, ridiculous amounts of horsepower!!! Would have been nice to seen this being ridden like the insane creations Alan Millyard comes up with. Check out his Viper V10 bike, and especially the Flying Millyard crafted with 2 cylinders off an Allison rotary. Wow.
Totally agree, should be on a custom made paddock stand, personally I'd prank it, stick on some daisy's and streamers off the handlebars when no ones looking 😂
Ran it with a 3 speed Holden gearbox and originally it had a Yamaha P50 fuel tank. He said he didn't know what the top speed was because it got too windy and he always ran out of road. Glad I'm not the only one who remembers it.
I can't believe how smooth it is. I figured those two monsters Pistons would vibrate the heck out of it. Several magnitudes less vibration than I thought there would be.
Saw it on one of the current affairs shows riding on the stuart highway if it's the same bike, pretty sure no blower then and had a holden crunch box 3 speed.
@@westboundbadgerEven outside of the fact that this contraption visibly shakes itself to pieces, the engine is top heavy. This alone is a big issue and is the main reason for the 'training wheels' on the side.

ABSOLUTELY. The mighty FM is orders of magnitude above this in cool factor if nothing else. For another, ONE GUY built it. Alan is in a class all his own for sure.
Absolutely. Mongrels like this bike gives one an appreciation for the magnitude and thoroughness of Mr.Millyard's projects. No carb and supercharger sticking out of the top, a proper seat, no car tire and outriggers, no need for a drill to get it running. Allen Millyard built an actual, usable motorcycle.
The Flying Millyard is an amazing bit of work to be sure but i don't think that takes away from this bike. this one is cool in a different way for me because it's a watercooled supercharged aircraft engine making 500 hp. I even think the separate starter is gives it character. Besides, it was probably the only reasonable (reasonable for a show bike) way to handle the starting situation. Of the two, i prefer the FM but it's not a contest, they can both be cool.
@@Lucas12v This is no show bike (well these days it is) it was built as a drag racing bike although unfortunately for Lucky he was sabotaged on at least one occasion while trying to run it down the 1/4 mile. That's very clever. Alot of thought and work has gone into that. Ive got to ask though. Why would you have the exhausts pointing point blank at the person trying to start it after all that 🤔🤣
If you look on the other side, the exhaust is probably routed to the side the starter is on to keep the heat away from the belts. Space is obviously at a premium and weight is an enemy. Compromises had to be made. Unlike in partisan politics, "compromise" isn't a 4 letter word.
At first i was like "damn, for a 500cc it sounds pretty sick" and then i saw the third 0.
Dude look at the size of the engine, nobody could have thougt "sick 500" xD
Bro I thought so too, I was like “oh it’s the same size as my bike.”

Ouch.

Could you imagine the rotational force on that bad boy in a turn
I read about this bike in a magazine when I was young and living overseas. Now I live in the same area where this bike is. Wow

The "training wheels" are for moving it around easily, it's quite heavy
that is some impressive machine work to cut that down to a 2 cylinder and also fit wheels to it

That is exactly the type of beard I would expect a man with a bike like this to have
