Wow, great video! That's very important information to know about efficiency Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks
Interesting, those headphones got released shortly after I got my LCD-X and it left me wondering how do they sound really in comparison. Thanks for the review!
You’re welcome
I prefer the X
Thank you for your review! I made my choice to purchase these after much research and your video. The fact that you had the X's and the 5's at the same time and these came on top for the most part helped with my decision. In terms of performance against the 5's is it like a 10%-20% increase in overall performance? I could not justify paying that much for headphones at this point lol
Thanks and I hope you enjoy them. The 5 are more HIFI like, more resolution and requires a very good amp to get the beat out of them.
Nice!!
Thanks!
Thank you very much! I will stay with my Hifiman Arya
Ok they are more spacious as extremely comfortable. I did a review.

I dropped mine in the toilet while listening from my Iphone. Very good response. Very durable!
Yea don’t drop them in the toilet please
nice video! have you tried comparing mm-500 to focal clear mg pros?
Not in a meaningful way.
I sold my Clear MG Pro for the MM500, mixes translate much better now.
So you mentioned the MM-500 is not the best for Orchestral music. Would you say the LCD-X's are better for mixing Orchestral because of the wider sound stage or do you think it would be fine to mix on the MM-500s?
The mm 500 has very upfront sound. The x has more lower mids. I like the X. But use Sonarworks.
I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I have also seen the mm500 so far, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the sound field of the mm500 is okay. For classical music, the instrument tone is not too modified. , the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I don’t know if I understand this right?
I'm familiar with the HEDD, Audeze, Neuman and HIFI man and more. The MM500 seem to be a little upfront for your taste. But you should listen to as many as you can.
I have a pair of beyerdynamic 770 Pro's and I wish there was somewhere I could just rent a pair of Audeze to mix with for a few days so I could do a comparison. I wouldn't mind investing in a pair but I would have to know that they're worlds apart from anything else.
I hear you. But some pro audio places will let you return them within a month.
@@kenjacobsenmusic Guitar Center is the only place here...maybe I can check online. Thanks
I upgraded to the LCD X from the 990s without demoing them. The quality of my music productions improved dramatically.
That’s great.
@@kenjacobsenmusicHey Ken, I appreciate your reviews. You seem to own all the gear I'm looking to buy haha....burson amp, LCD 5, kii 3s.
Hello, I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I I think I like mm500 very much, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the Sound Stage of the mm500 is ok. For classical music, the instrument is not too modified and artificial, the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I'm still looking for a sound I like, maybe you can give me some advice or other information.
Try the HEDD 2. Different sound, but maybe more to your liking. Check my video of it
Hi sir, do you think the audeze mm 500 or LCD 5 bring something to the table that your Kii three cannot ? I am planning to open a mastering studio around the Kii three, and was wondering if I needed to get one of these headphones for quality control like clicks and pops and that kind of stuff since people seem to agree that headphones brings out more inner detail than speakers. Thank you very much.
Considering that most music gets digested through headphones, I believe that having a pair of reference headphones are essential for mixing and mastering. There are a couple of headphone reviews in the works. Stay tuned.
@@kenjacobsenmusic Thank you
Do you know how the MM-500 would compare to the MX-4s? Would love to hear your thoughts!
I’ve o let heard the Mx-4 briefly. They strike me more as a high-fi type sound. Flattering and nice. But not brutality honestly.
@@kenjacobsenmusic The MX-4s were designed to be an LCD-X with more depth. I personally wouldn’t say they are HiFi but then again I haven’t been able to compare them to other Audezes. My mixes sounded pretty dang similar to how they sound on my HEDD type 20s. All that being said I only really had an hour with them and haven’t listened to many headphones in that price range so my scope of reference is smaller. Thank you for taking the time to respond! I will take this onto consideration next time I listen to them. A friend is selling a set at an attractive price point
A Hedd 2 review on its way
@@kenjacobsenmusic Nice I’ve only listened to the HEDDphone 1 and they sounded nothing like their speakers and I’m a huge HEDD fan. Will get a chance to listen to the 2s soon
You said “you’d pick the MM500 over anything else”…- well, even over the Focal Clear MG Pro? - it’s the new version of Focal Clear…(they are in the same price range….)
I’m trying to get a clear mg pro in for review.
The sooner the better because that could help me in my final decision- I don’t wanna buy something and then to regret- I just wanna get what fits my needs in my studio…- (…well, after your review…)
I think with your help, I would clear my mind faster …
Let me know as soon as you will have a “competition” in between those two…
These vs focal clear mg pro
Maybe I’ll get a hold of a pair of Focals soon
Audeze service is horrible.
My Lcd-1 has problem and they don't repair it because this model is "discontinued" they said
That’s not good
I hate to hear that happened. They should have definitely offered an alternative. I've never had anything but stellar service from them. My LCD-X had a screw that would constantly back out. They resolved the issue and remeasured the planar diapraham after repair. They weren't happy with the balance between the left and right diapraham, so they replaced both. Mind you, this was imperceptible to me. They sounded fantastic before and after their return.
