- This week we take our first ride down one of Aliso Woods/Laguna Beach's steepest trails: Mentally Sensitive. It's a great loop, whether you're a local or visiting for the first time to Southern California. Check out my first impressions on this ride along and trail guide as we end things on an Aliso classic: Rock-It Trail.

Great videos. I enjoy how you put them together and explain the trails
Appreciated Steve. 👊
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. Until next week 🤙🏼
Thanks Mike!
Nice, always enjoy the two peeps on the map conversation!
Haha me too Steve. 😉
Looks fun!
Those trails look fun as hell!
Sparks 701 nope not this one. Nope nope nope nope nope nope....
Hell yeah, that's how you hit Rock It! I never made up that mid point...yet.
✔️👊
Stay left and carry speed. It chucks me if I'm on a hardtail but if you have enough steam to do a light bunny hop you'll make it. Full suspension bounces you over without much drama.
If you want something a little more rocky technical and steep come to the San Marcos/ La Costa nascar/drop down trail. You descend about 1200 feet in about 2-3 minutes, and it’s soooo fun!!
Where’s that?
Just road Nascar a few weeks ago. Two thumbs up! !
The Outsider MTB I’ll send you the address to the trailhead

Great riding Tony and awesome trails.
Thank you Mark!
Man you make it look so easy. I hit this trail today and it was no joke; I had to walk down a couple parts and crawl down the rest. I've been down Lynx, Rock it, and meadows a bunch of times without much trouble. But this one was so loose and steep I was sliding all over the place just trying to stay in control.
Thanks man - just takes some getting used to on that one for sure.
Nice! Fun trails
👊✔️
Great job Tony
Thanks Vin!
All I ever worry about is the 2 trees while taking that sharp left🤘 That trail has definitely been smoothed out the past couple years
I've only ridden it this once - I've got to make my way back.
Nice ride, man! Nice!
Thanks!
Hey Tony it was great seeing you in Laguna today at trailhead parking lot with my buddies, great job on the channel and looking forward to seeing your Sedona videos you mentioned, keep,it up!
Back at you Billy. 👊👍
"definitely having voices in my head..... don't know if that's healthy" LMAO..... i did "LOL" out lound on that one. haha
Happy to hear that! Haha - the voices are at least...nice.
I had a hard wreck on that trail right around where you said it was mellow. Caught my bar on a bush at speed and bent my handlebar and stem
Dang - I’ve had that happen too. Branches snap into the bars and yank you down. Stupid branches. 🌿
Was cool seeing u ride the black diamond trail
Thanks!
Great vid!
Thanks!!!
Nice vid. MS is super fun but this year it's been overrun by hikers coming up the trail for some reason. So if you plan to ride it, expect to see hikers appearing at very inconvenient times! Doubly so if it's the weekend.
Thanks for the great videos...I live in the area and it's been great to watch these and then go ride those trails. I'm seeing what looks to be some cool trail sin San Clemente. Can you do some videos down there? Thanks!!! See ya on the trails..
Tna is for tuning in Danny - SC is on my list for sure!
no question you have the highest IQ of all MTB YTers...i appreciate that as a PhD riding "self-talking" make myself laugh when i ride
...type-person.
Haha I’ll take it. 😉
Love these trails. Need to find a riding buddy and hit them up soon. A bit of a drive from HB but def worth it.
Definitely!
I just visited from Long Island NY we have hills! View to ride for!
Nice Rich!
Insane how easy you make rock it look! Crashed pretty bad right after the rocky section
👊 Hope you're good!
All healed up thanks man! Now its time to go back and try it again!
There’s a fun trail that drops behind gelsons. It’s to the right on that first drop. You when there’s a fork on that one, stay right. It gets pretty steep.
👍
Hello Toni. Revisiting this video today. I'm a subscriber/liker/contributor to your channel. I love all your vids man. I lived in CT too and spent a couple winters getting around by motorcycle only! ( snow, snow mixed with salt and dirt - sludge ) Sucked until a got a car. I've been a SoCal dweller for years now ( L.A. county ) I would love to hook up with you and friends sometime in the OC or wherever. 😊
Hey thanks for being a part of it all! We have a group ride this weekend and ride together on that side of things if you’re interested. Link in the description. Either way cheers!!
that little hard left on rock-it always gets me. Think I've only cleaned it twice out 20 rides.
Yup it comes up quick!
Just found your channel and as a SoCal mountain biker I really enjoy it. Which video do you do Meadows? I'm in Northern San Diego County in Road with a group at Aliso Canyon last weekend for the first time. We did Meadows but I want to hear your take on it. I plan on coming back up and doing that whole ride again. And I want to explore more of the Orange County rides as well
Good stuff and welcome to the channel. Meadows is Mentally Sensitive’s younger brother. Here’s the vid: Ocean Views x Sweet Descents | Mountain Biking Laguna Beach, California czcams.com/video/hFQd15TtNng/video.html
Have you done a review of your new bike or is that still to come? Great ride videos, thanks.
Yup - I've got a new bike day vid and first trail ride. Not a full review - it's only been a couple months.
you jumped forward on that 90* left after the drop! I didn’t make it through that my first time. My right handlebar nailed the tree right after and I ate it lol
6:05
I remember this bit - like a full 180 steep switchback - slowed my roll for sure.
Ya that’s the one. Is car wreck in your future?? I hiked it the other day and it looked more difficult
@@fyfer8 It is. I almost did it this vid, but just decided last minute to hit MS.
It’s not the golf clubs! It’s the player😘
Fun trail....just a lot of pedaling for a trail
I agree!
Ummm dang, are you speeding up the video because it looks like you're going a LOT faster than I go :) Especially on rock-it! Nice riding!!
No tricks. Haha 😉 Thanks man!
Laguso! haha
You missed that fun little rock climb on coyote just after you finished rockit.
Just didn’t add it to the vid. 😉
Sup Tony. Question, I stopped riding cause my bike was in the shop for 3 months, now that I have it,! Where are the best spot to go. Is Fullerton loop good??
Glad your back on the bike Luis. Fullerton is a good warm up, but after that just take your pick from any of the vids I’ve done. So many good locations. ✔️
If you want some SERIOUS steeps try directile, Iris, H-Mac, Sewer Drop or Mickeys T-Box. Absolutely insane
I've seen the clips. Heavy.
Nice videos! Kudos to anyone who climbs up Rock-it but I have no idea why anyone would :)
Ha agreed and thank you!
Rock It is a great climb if your into that kind of stuff. Think conditioning.
Rock-it is my absolute favorite. Finally managed to crack 5 minutes on strava last week!
Nice! Such a fun one - little bit of everything.
What’s your GoPro set up? Loving that angle
Hero 8 right now with the chesty stuntman.
👍
one of the scariest trails ive been on in a while
Tony how are you liking the Remedy overall after having it for a few months? On my short list.
So far so good. Awesome for what I’ve been riding.
Hey Tony! What kind of shifter do you use?
It’s a SRAM. It’s Sramtastic.
IKEA Puzzles.....lol
Stairsteps next??? Once u hit stairsteps u won't believe how many more trails come out from hiding :)
Come out from hiding?
OMG! You’re that Dasilva pro scater?
🤷🏻♂️
what a gifted rider,, how does Mentally sensitive compare to Car Wreck?
Thanks - I’ll let you know very soon. 😉
Yeah the East is getting snowy...
I bet - thanks for tuning in Chris!
@@TheOutsiderMTB Top of the world looks great...
Whoa whoa whoa you should of taken the stairs at 3:12 man. What gives........I thought I was watching the next Sam Pilgram here.
Haha - I prefer to save the suspension for the trails if I can. 😉 At least for now...
On TrailForks some of the trails are purple. What is the level of a purple line.
Fire roads.
Oh okay thank you so much
Why the the video cut? Did you walk part of it?
I’ve done this trail a lot - never walked it.
How does MS compare to Rock It and Car Wreck?
Steep but not as treacherous as car wreck gets. Very different from rockit.
Putting together Ikea furniture set you up for the mental complexity of choosing the right lines..
😂
Gonna be in Newport for a few days looking to get out for a couple rides down there. Any ride recommendations for a 2hr loop?
I'd suggest checking out the laguna vids I have posted. Plenty of trail guides here to choose from in that time frame.
Nah it raining here now and park rangers said it closed for like two weeks or so!!
Laguna should be back open tomorrow.
Rad
👊✔️
Try Christmas Tree next time!
Secret trail?
Oops... must’ve gotten my parks mixed up. Thought there was a Christmas Tree trail past mentally sensitive. 😭
I told you my name's not Billy!😆 jk
Sorry Billy! I I mean...Michael!
wrong strava?
Fixed thx!
My front tire blew put halfway through mentally sensitve
Yikes.
1:07 is my ex
Huh?
@@TheOutsiderMTB Oh stop😂. I really enjoy your videos man!
Yes Ikea sucks run for the hills...
