  • I'm going to be showing you how to quickly and easily install anchor bolts. These anchor bolts are commonly also called; concrete anchor bolts, wedge anchor, masonry anchors cement anchors, red heads, or strong bolts. These anchors are mainly used to attach lumber or metal onto concrete.
    These wedge anchors where used to install fence post on a concrete foundation to erect a chain-link fence area for tool keeping.

      its super easy. you just have to read the package to see what size drill bit to use and how deep to drill. The hardest part is reading it because the print is usually very small. lol

    Is it necessary to use a large, corded hammer drill like the one you have? Or would a good quality hand-held hammer drill (like a DeWalt XR or Milwaukee) work?

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358
      @johnscarpentrytv4358  Před rokem

      Not necessary at all. The drills you mentioned would work well. Most hammer drills will easily do the job, but for power and quickness, I pulled out the corded one

    Would these same posts work outdoors? I initially thought I would have to put j bolts in wet concrete then allow to set

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358
      @johnscarpentrytv4358  Před 11 měsíci +1

      these are galvanized fence post with plates welded on and yes, these would be perfect for outdoors after a pore of concrete.

    Would it be good if someone holding the pole while putting the bolts to avoid the person getting hurt

  • @Methodical2
    @Methodical2 Před 9 měsíci

    According to the instructions you should tighten to 55 ft lb but I see many say just give it a few turns. Why ? I’m pretty sure the manufacturer guidance is to ensure the wedge mechanism fully engages.

  • @lkoh9517
    @lkoh9517 Před 2 lety

    Is the tape down to help the pole to stop moving around? Would be good if you could explain it from the beginning. :)

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358
      @johnscarpentrytv4358  Před 2 lety +1

      The only purpose of the tape on the floor was to accurately mark where my holes were to be drilled. The floor had newly applied gray epoxy so I didnt want to mark up the floor in case I made a miscalculation of where exactly the pole needed to be. the tape on dill bit was to mark the depth i needed to drill down

    Wouldn't it be better to tighten the nuts in a cross pattern like we do with car wheels?

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358
      @johnscarpentrytv4358  Před 2 lety +1

      You need to consider if its going to be structural and if the ground is solid and sound. If its for structural, then I would recommend digging out and poring concrete and then go from there

    Size of bolt and the drill bit used for it?

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358
      @johnscarpentrytv4358  Před 2 lety

      There are many different sizes and styles. Usually the packaging will tell you the correct bit size to use when drilling the hole

  • @Capefearboy

    What brand bit? The ones I have used suck.

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358
      @johnscarpentrytv4358  Před 2 lety

      bosch or any name brand should do and they last a very long time. Be sure to use a HAMMER DRILL and not just a drill. The hammer action chips and drills in like butter practically

    Please always blow out the hole a vacuum will not get the dust out the hole should b blown out with air and wire brushed and repeat tell no more dust comes out of hole other than that do everything else he did lol

    • @johnscarpentrytv4358

      I agree with you 100%. I used the vac because I didnt want dust every where. I was just erecting a chain-link fence inside a warehouse for equipment. if i were outside then I would have used my cordless blower
