  • A nineteen year old man, after a lifetime of mental health issues, trauma, and examples of violent behavior, grew and festered over the years. Eventually, becoming an obsessed brony isolated from the rest of society, he spiraled completely out of control, leading to one of the worst crimes in the history of the state of Indiana.
Once again, thank you for the support, everyone.

The same thing happened with my Son who is similarly disturbed. One time they were having training at his school, a drill to prepare students Incase of an active shooter. The school asked us to talk to our kids and ask them what they would do if a shooter was in the school?
My son's response was that first he would kill the people in the cafeteria, because that's where everyone gathered. I was stunned. I did go to his counselor and the school about it. I was ignored.
When my son found out he threatened me. He told me to never talk to the police or I would be sorry. Guess what, still no help.
My situation has a much better outcome. To spite all my son's problems, he knew how much I love him. He left a few months after he turned 18 and never came back. I think it was because part of him didn't want to hurt me and he didn't think he could stop himself.
I hope he is getting the help he needs wherever he landed. I couldn't do anything else for him. He needed residential care. None of those places take state insurance.

You threatening to take away this tool of revolution shows that you are anti-revolutionary and therefore pro-tyranny and pro-system.
If you may recall, mass shootings are a recent trend that is mainly caused by mental health issues. It is not the 2nd ammendments fault, we've had it for over 200 years without this issue. It is the industrial society that is causing strained mental health and leading people to snap. A better solution is to focus on helping people with mental health issue, or skip treating the symptoms and go for the source, destroy industrial society.

21 States, plus D.C. have Red Flag Laws, including the State I live in. A Red Flag Law, is when a someone in the suspected person’s life, files a petition before the court to, with significant evidence, remove gun permits, & guns from a citizen, where there’s risk of them hurting themselves or someone else, due to mental health issues. They are not permitted to own, or have in their possession, a gun or a firearm for one year. Studies show it is reducing gun violence, where these law’s are enacted. The only problem, is most States, need to really inform the public, since a lot of citizens have no idea they exist.

I work for Estas Logistics maintenance hub. Nobody is allowed to bring a smartphone nor a regular cellular phone to work. It can be grounds for termination. The strange part is, Estas logistics maintenance hub is located in an extremely rural area. There is no cellular signal there for about ten kilometers before the complex. Even going there, there are big areas without service. Yet people bring their cellular phones in and get warned a few times then fired. Some fired were some of the best technicians and mechanics I have seen. Of course some were complete idiots as well. I shortly moved to the 3rd shift after starting there. Though, I am the only person in the huge complex, except for the entry guard, it was clearly stated that no cellular phone would be tolerated at work. If it was seen in a security camera I would receive a written reprimand. Three reprimands and I am fired, and I though I am now the head 3rd tier mechanic there. I do not even understand why anybody would even bring a cellular phone into work when there is no service around the area. I do not even own a cellular phone at all because there is so little service around here. The pockets that have service are nowhere near worth having a mobile phone here. But people manage it. I really do not get the relevance people have put on cellular phones as far as having them and not allowed at work. But the again, I do not have one.

When this happened workers were not allowed to have their cellphones within the building, not for efficiency or safety; but rather because the company does not want anyone videotaping and whistle blowing on the many many osha work violations. After this shooting, we still have to keep our cellphones within lockers that are in the parking lot outside of security. The “added safety measure” they offered in the event of another shooting was adding deadbolts to the bathroom doors. I am deeply saddened for the lives lost in this tragedy. For all we know, that behavior could have just come about in childhood and you've found it adequate ever since. Though, if you find yourself doing that out of stress caused by overstimulation or prolonged periods of vague anxiety, I would say that would be something to bring up with a psychiatrist. Remember to trust the professionals with formally diagnosing you and not to self-diagnose based on how you feel. While it is hard to live with the feeling that there's a deeper explanation behind your seeming behavioral inadequacies, the professionals are the ones who have been formally trained to identify the symptoms properly.

EDIT: was thinking GenZer while writing this, which brings me back to that hopeless feeling for our country's future because still havent found any from that generation who thinks the way the OP does, which I discussed below...
It is a breath of fresh air to see someone from your Generation finally have some common sense rationale / thinking when it comes to pretty much the realities of life. Even though you are probably the only GenXer I've personally seen show this educated way of thinking (in comment sections & in videos), it does give me some hope. Because honestly, I've grown pretty much numb to the realization that all young ppl will ever do is blame everyone & everything else for their life's circumstances and more importantly, their actions and NEVER take any type of accountability / responsibility. And although I am numb to it, it still drives me absolutely wild when reading some of these beyond ignorant comments that this particular video is filled with. I am sure there are many more of your brethren that share your intelligence about "reality" & hopefully many can follow your lead, it is just very rare to see these days.

I live in Indy. I moved here a year after the shooting. This FedEx facility is one of the biggest in the world. They literally bought the old airport.
At the time I was working as a manager and hired a guy who worked that day. He worked full time for Fed Ex. He said he heard the shots, heard them hit the ground, was going to come in for his shift. By some miracle, maybe just him not wanting to get up for five more minutes or whatever. He had not entered the building yet, he was late for work. He thought about it sometimes...got all misty eyed. Had he gone in to work on time, he wouldve been trapped in there with Brandon. He wouldve been killed.
Now INDs FedEx side is huge. The facility is massive, this is not a small facility by even a long shot.

She pulled him from school to homeschool him and had counselors coming to the house. It was in the video. Once the child turns 18 that’s it, you can do nothing at all but pray. She did go to police to red flag him and THEY cleared him. Trying to have someone committed is impossible. I've worked in the ED and in mental health as a nurse. The problem is that the US lacks facilities to for long-term mental health care like the old asylum systems. Now, a lot of those asylums were horribly broken and problematic, but simply shutting them down with no alternative plan was NOT the right answer. This is a very American thing...we tend to let things get to a crisis point (the conditions in asylums) and then we overreact (by shutting them all down with no alternative plan in place). This left a gaping hole in mental health care.
Some patients just aren't able to live safely in regular society. This can be due to danger to themselves, danger to others or both. The best place for them to live is in a long-term facility that's staffed by nurses and doctors who can monitor their health, titrate their medications and assist them in ADL's and functioning at their best level (instead of forcing them into a society that will always viewed them as low functioning and where they can't get the heavy medical attention that they need). These facilities should be strictly regulated, the same as any other hospital to ensure a high standard of care.
The idea of just leaving people with severe mental health issues as the responsibility of their parent or (even worse) alone in society is insane. I feel bad for a lot of our mental health cases that come into the ED because their situation is not their fault. It's the fault of a society that wants to ignore them until they reach a crisis point, at which point they have to be forcibly committed by the police. Then we in the ED and psych units stabilize them enough so that they are 'competent' and then they are released again because no one wants to stay long-term in a hospital environment. But since there's no facility for them to live at, they then go back onto the streets where their condition usually worsens again over time until they end up in the same cycle. It's really sad and frustrating to watch, especially since we know that, with care and close management, they can do a lot better and be a lot happier.

  • @YochevedDesigns

Yet one more reason why we should bring back mental health institutions. If someone is clearly a danger to themselves or others, they do not belong in the general population. It's not. It's because you zoomers have no idea about how to live without a phone in your hand. Every place of business has a phone, and every retail store has a phone that phones to either the store intercom, or the main office, or an outside line. You do not need to have a phone on your person. Learn to use the office phone. I still know the dial codes to phone out of K-Mart from the intercom phone from when I worked there in the 90's. I was the only one that knew how to do that. Used it to phone in a pizza to be waiting for me at home when I got off work. Good old days.

As a brony who is also autistic, unfortunately people may see us as bad or insane because of some people like this, it makes me so sad, I feel for all the victims and the families of this awful tragedy, this shooting could’ve been prevented, mental health is such a big problem in America, we have to start taking it seriously, also he should’ve not been able to purchase any guns with his conditions, the easy access to guns in America is insane especially in the south, we need mental health checks for people who want to buy guns, also I believe in banning the AR15 style rifles, there was so many red flags in this one surprised nobody even thought to stop it, also white supremacists and nazis try to brainwash and recruit bronies with propaganda because a lot of people in our community are very vulnerable, mixed with loneliness and isolation from society this will lead some down the this horrible path, it happens in the furry community as well for the same reasons, some of this started when the /mlp/ board and /pol/ board on 4/chan got mixed together on April fools day in 2017 Nazis infiltrated the brony board and the propaganda spread from there, a lot of these people and their content have been banned from the fandom and will continue to be banned hopefully.

IMO the problem is, for some reason, there is this, "force field of stupidity" I call it when it comes to generalizing, where people turn off their brains, and somehow act like it's not just acceptable to generalize fans (of any show or hobby or whatnot), but acceptable to lash out against those who call it out for the unreasonable behavior it is - AS WELL as people existing who seem to think apathy is the right answer when it isn't IMO. IMO the answer is to just be more aggressive, say "If you have an issue with people doing bad things, call them out for what THEY do. Acting like people are bad just because they like the same thing is wrong, and you're wrong for generalizing." and the like.
