The "Art Deco" era was long gone by the time this car was produced. "Moderne" might be a better descriptor.
No straight 8 in a Lincoln it's a V8 (flathead). These '49-'51's deserve more love, they used the "bathtub" design better than most other cars... of course, Caddy overshadowed them with the fins and eggcrate grilles... plus the '49's suffered QC problems due to introduction before all bugs were worked out
Yup, this model was originally intended to be the base series Lincoln. The car was the base Lincoln, the Baby lincoln, was supposed to the be 48 Mercury, and the car that became the 49 Merc was supposed to be the 48 full-size Ford. There would have also been a compact Ford. That car became the French Ford and the rest were all moved up a notch, and a new 114 inch wheelbase Ford was hastily hammered out. That car was the 49 Ford, and it too was full of bugs. This Lincoln was made in calendar 1949. The cars that were built in late 1948 had different door handles, and they were a big problem.
It's Streamline Moderne, not Art Deco. Beautiful car. Harry Truman bought a number of Lincolns for the government in 1949, because General Motors would not lend him Cadillacs to use in his 1948 campaign. When Ike won in 1952, he chose GM President C.E. Wilson to head the Department of Defense. Wilson cancelled a bunch of contracts with Packard and sent the work to GM.
The Big Linc!
Ohh Yeah

Hydraulic power windows. If one ordered the automatic, he Lincoln would arrive with a GM Hydramatic as Ford was still working on their automatic transmissions. The 'owner'(?) doesn't seem to know very much about this car.
The Owner Love the Design More then he actually knows about it and it's the 1st Time I've seen one so I appreciate the Info 🙂
He's Asking $20,995 and Open to Offers, Here's a Link to my Website:

That seems to be more and more the norm nowadays. Many young guys today can't even change a tire!
