  • In this new video with Caitie North, we go through adding color to a portrait.
To keep it simple Caitie chose to use her take on the primary colors.
Limiting the number of colors also increases the level of creativity on this piece.
Working through this tutorial will help you better understand the relationship between the colors you chose to use and it will also leave you with a beautiful portrait that also looks pretty funky and awesome.
This is another long-form tutorial from Caitie and she definitely goes in-depth on this subject.
These portrait tutorials will really help take your painting technique to the next level.
There is nothing better for your technique than practice, practice, practice. It's also very important to maintain a student's mind and try to get value from anything you watch and try out.
You never know when a little gem or knowledge bomb is going to click and open up a whole new level of painting for you.

What a brilliant idea, to follow up the value study painting with a wild color one! Why has no other teacher thought to do this??? It worked! And I think I even understand why. My version of the lady I painted to do this portrait series came out amazing. I think it’s maybe even frame-worthy. Can’t wait to do the final tutorial and looking forward to finally having a reliable, replicable method for painting accurate yet artistic portraits!! You’re amazing. I wish you had a Patreon or gave lessons somewhere. Thank you! ❤

Wow! Awesome! I enjoy these tutorials.
Would Catie be able to do a more in-depth on shadow values and reflected light using colour?
