This isn't Hanna-Barbera. There is no more Hanna-Barbera. HB got absorbed by Warner Bros in 1999. This is Warner Media compensating for how they passed on the Five Nights at Freddy's movie.
Hanna Barbera are probably rolling in their respective graves!
Rumors coming through at the moment that this script WAS originally meant to be for the Five Nights at Freddy's movie before the project fell through and Blumhouse obtained the rights.

If that's the case, they just did the original FNAF script, except replace everything related to FNAF with the Banana Splits. And keep the robot part in.
@@randomstuff2099 It's only a hunch, but considering that they're still making a killer animatronic horror film after they "dropped" an IP that was the perfect fit for the genre, it's easy to say that Scott wasn't happy with their direction. Scott even stated that the film's planning stage was a nightmare, with one example being the idea of plush toys coming to life as the plot.
He either pulled the rights away, they gave up on the IP after he force them to undo progress, or they gave up since they think it won't be profitable at that point and banked on nostalgic.

And if the rumors aren't true, that shows a blatant desire to toss off a crummy knockoff. Besides, weren't the Banana Splits guys in mascot costumes? Even if they took that, ran with it, and made them all serial killers hiding out in said costumes that would at least be a decent twist. It's clearly a bad attempt at a horror movie satire.
And I still respect it more than that stupid "Scooby Apocalypse" comic.

And you could say that it’s not a FNAF based movie, but it’s about children’s animatronics coming to life at night and hurting people and is made by the same people who were developing the original FNAF movie.

I actually watched this movie and i would say this is one of the funniest killer horror movies I’ve seen so far. It give as feels and effect like Sharknado: it’s stupid but funny at the same time.

I believe that line is going to be said early in the film before they go to the studio, because it wouldn't make sense if it appeared when they do or even when the splits start splitting, like that older guy (presumably hid brother) is all like "furries are gay" after the dad revealed the tickets to the show to the kid and mum is like "no you."
