Terence Blanchard, Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, they all wanted Lionel Loueke in their bands, but the problem with him is that he tends to be a scene stealer. He’s so unique and innovative in rhythm, phrasing, chording, and tone that he stands out whoever he plays with. Moreover, he’s also a good vocalist - kinda like a guitarist’s answer to Bobby McFerrin. Yes, Lionel Loueke is a total package of music. Amazing talent!
I like his playing, it complements the music well, but his tone leaves much to be desired. I'd love to hear him through a real tube amp that's dialed in. But tube amps are instruments unto themselves and if you don't understand how to make them work for you, then even they would be of little use.
@@Cambodia69 I play on a mono canal tube amp, never used a kemper. I just read lot of stuff about musician moving to kemper because it's convenient to carry and sound the same on stage for most "non-musician" public

4/4 x 4 + 1/8= 33/8. Very useful counting method suggested by remijazz: count three bars of 4/4 and count the final bar as a 'false' 5/4 (leave out an eighth note on the last beat).
You're right, the cycle is a 17/8, but I prefer think it like 3 bars in 4/4 and one bar in 5/4, it make improvisation really easier, at least in my head :-)
