  • Hi all, this is a step by step instruction on installing Andreani fork cartridges on my Ducati scrambler, but will work on many forks. Sorry, no intro our outro, it became quite long. So you will probably only want to watch this if you are going to install these yourself. Good luck and may the Lord bless you handiwork!

    Really appreciate the video. These are not common parts so it’s soooo helpful when one is looking to buy and install them.

      True! And they vary in price and what is included in them. You really have to research. I actually ordered this kit from Italy and got it a lot cheaper! It is night and day difference in the ride and capability of the bike.

    Hi! I bought a bike with this kit already installed but the seller told me he had to make a mix with some stock parts in order to work. I want to adjust the rebound and compression but it really doesn't change anything when I try to adjust it. Do you have full capabilities of adjustment on yours? Thanks

      Hi, sorry if I did not answer this. Yes, the adjustments work great, especially the preload for different terranes.

    Hi mate! Quick question and a quick response for a fellow Ducati owner would be highly appreciated. I'm just before starting the job on my Hyperstrada... The instructions say to use a milling tool BEFORE removing the tiny screw on the fork leg. The tiny screw (the one you have stripped and are re-doing the tap)... They say it's a TORX, not a HEX and this is probably why it stripped, but my question is: Why do they want us to mill before removing that screw? I'm pretty sure you worked it out after removing all that and this is why I trust your feedback. Also, you don't happen to be local to the Seattle area, do you?
    An answer would be really appreciated and a quick one even more... LOL!

    • @MotoWorld777
      @MotoWorld777  Před 2 lety

      hey buddy, sure. it needs a bit of milling because the aluminum is "pined" over it, as in it is tamped down to keep the screw from coming out. You can file it a bit or use a flat drill bit to remove the aluminum over it. I am pretty sure mine was a hex, but yea, try the torx, but remove the aluminum over it first to get your wrench in there. Take you time so you don't damage the fork or uglyfy it too much! I would replace it with a regular bolt for later removal and lock tight it in there, Good luck!

      @@MotoWorld777 Thanks a lot! Just a bit strange (LOL!!!), but I needed confirmation that that is the case. I have milling bits, no big deal. Stay safe!

      @@A.Dude. Fellow HS owner here. I've got a 2016 low version. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a set of these cartridges and have a couple questions for ya. Do you have the standard height or the low version? If you have the low version which Andreani part number did you go with? Have you installed the cartridges yet and if so, are you happy with the difference? Lastly, i had heard about using the milling bit but my understanding was to use it clean up the hole the set screw was in and also any damage to the fork tube threads. It was said it helped to prevent any damage to the threads when unscrewing them caused by any deformation the set screw caused when it was originally tightened against the fork tube threads. At least that's what i've gleaned from the interweb. Cheers!

      @A.Dude. Před 2 lety

      @@bradcrossman5068 I have the standard height Hyperstrada. So not much help here... Regarding the "milling"; this portion of the manual is overstated. The entire "milling" refers to a bit of material, which the manufacturer "hammered" over the top of the retaining-screw so that it will not allow it to come off. If not "milled", which can be achieved with a flat file in a few passes, the screw will rotate and hit that "hammered material" and destroy the thread because it won't have clearance to come out. That's about it. I have not installed them yet because it's something I want to do with my son who will visit over the winter vacation; great to teach him something useful. About the difference to stock, I do have experience with a friends bike. It's not like 'night and day", it's about making the bike yours, namely to properly adjust compression and rebound. If properly adjusted it will feel very safe. If your weight happens to be in the standard of the stock, you won't get much of an improvement simply because the stock shocks are wonderfully engineered. Whoever tells you any different is not honest.

    • @MotoWorld777
      @MotoWorld777  Před rokem

      depends on your riding and weight. If you are going off road more clicks if onroad less. I just set it about half way and then adjusted as needed.

    For the life of me I cant believe that the stock internals are much cheaper at all to manufacture than the stock ones on all these bikes....so WHY IN THE WORLD dont they just put better internals in the STOCK BIKES??? I dont get it? Either way it is several parts

    @22:50 how did you screw the cartridge into the fork cap? I know Andreani says you need a special tool, but I didn't see you use one.

    • @MotoWorld777
      @MotoWorld777  Před 3 lety +1

      hi, do you mean the cap that screws into the cartrege rod and then secures into the top of the fork tube. It is not hard, just put the fork into something secure like a vice and them pull down hard on the spring and then place a 10 or 12 mm open end wrench under the nut on the rod and it will hold the spring back while you screw on the cap and secure it to the nut.. Let me know if this was clear or if I missed the question.

    • @Mitchwilmarth
      @Mitchwilmarth Před 3 lety

      @@MotoWorld777 Thank you! Yes, that makes sense. Andreani says you need “special tools” to install the cartridge. When I installed my Ohlins NIX cartridges I had to buy a special wrench to hold the spring down while screwing the nut onto the rod.

What do you think about the Andreani Cartidges? My preference is comfortable touring and off-roading! Let me know your inputs.
