Hey!!! I fly this!!! I still have mine! We chase our catapult gliders with this super-easy plane! 😀
This was my first plane and I couldn't have been happier to get one. It completely took away the fear of learning to fly. It made getting into the hobby so much fun!
Thanks for telling me I was looking into starting the hoby
@@FreshwaterFableseither one for these or a rage rc mini war bird be great. The mini war birds are a little tougher and fly better in wind because they fly faster. But on a calm day these super cubs are so much fun.
I will thank you guys again because five months ago I seen the aiero scout learn how to fly and now I have ten planes it includes the e-flite extra 300 and I love to fly!! I just recently pick my wife up a drone and now she flies also!! You guys have a good one a big way from Pipers Gap Virginia
I love my sport cub s2 so much I have a backup that I have never flown. This is the airplane I learned to fly on!
I've been flying this aircraft for about 2 years and recently put floats on it. A little harder to take off from water but I love this plane so much. It is definitely a trainer/beginner aircraft but you can dial in some more control into your transmitter and you can do loops, rolls, inverted (though I don't recommend it as it's roll isn't fast) and knife-edge. I've also put this plane through alot were I got it stuck in 2 trees at the top and it came down very hard (everything worked) and I also crashed it in water in that case had to fix some stuff but it still flies amazingly. I would recommend this 10 out of 10 for anyone wanting this plane.
This is what I learned on back in December. I got it stuck in a tree, crashed it multiple times, and it still flies great. I do recommend getting a better charger though. It's real easy to kill the 1s batteries with the included charger. (At least it was for me as a new pilot)
Folks, today Tday, Horizon is offering this plane on SALE - for $130.00 , just ordered mine, thanks RCSaylors for showing this plane, will be my first, cant wait to get it , free shipping also :)
Just picked this up at my local rc store! Thanks for the informational review.
Very nice small and relaxing plane to watch fly. Would be a great entry level for someone new to the hobby. As much as I enjoyed the video. What I appreciated the most? Is the fact you always take time to thank the Lord for these incredible opportunities.
I'd like to thank you guys again because I seen you guys is video on the air scout five months ago
Great video showing the controls and all of the flight surfaces! I bet these great beginner planes will "fly" off the shelves for the upcoming holidays!!! Terrific job, my friends!
JP ♥️⚓s
Thanks!!
I have owned this beautiful little plane for about 6 months now and love it! was out camping and let a freind fly it for the first time. Hours later, I couldn't get him off of it. We both had so much fun flying this little plane. Thanks for your awesome videos and richeous HONEST reviews! Keep up the good work:)
I just got this one for my b-day a few weeks ago, mostly thanks to your prior vids on it. Going tomorrow to get a couple extra batteries, that also fit in the storage box!!!
That is the plane that I and probably thousands of other RC pilots first got into the air successfully. Still a fun little flier.
Glad to hear that Charles! We like knowing when we aren't the only ones to feel a certain way about an RC :-)
I have this and the Turbo Timber UMX, I take them with me on the road during the week in my truck to get my flying fix. They are great fun.
Good idea. Try rc truck scx 24 crawler. 24 scale fits in lunch box
Love mine
I just ordered one of those last week it is waiting for me at home. I will be putting the many mods on it when I get home tomorrow.
@@mattcook5302 doesn't need mods. Just get good extra bats. Try the bigger bats more run time and combat the wind. Fun plane, wind up to 5 mph. My plane sores with the gods of flight. Some times big seagulls will glide with the plane , so cooooool
This is the plane I learned on, it’s tough and easy to learn with! SOOOO many crashes though lol.
We fly these in the golf dome . So much fun. Fly higher to avoid drones. I put bobber lights red green on wing tips.
Man, that sounds like so much fun!!
@@TheRcSaylors it's a relaxing hobby to soar with the gods of flight. I wonder if orville and Wilbur are high fiving when they see our planes. They created the control surfaces. One of the Wright brothers signed the pilots license for mr kerner at kerner airfield in kankakee il. Near my home town.
I purchased this as my first plane. Love it. Make sure there is little to no wind when flying it. Otherwise it’s a perfect starter! Great video Abby and Nate!
I just got one for my Birthday! can't wait to fly it.
I absolutely loved my sport cub! Definitely a perfect 1st rc plane!
I just got one over the holidays and it is my 3rd plane now. It is fun to fly even as semi experienced. Fun to just fly at your local ball field for some quick fun. Had to manually adjust my rudder out of the box and after that it’s flying great on the RTF DXS that came with my aeroscout 👍👍
Thank you for this video, I think you've convinced me to get one. Loads of positive comments here also. I bought the Eachine mini T28 Trojan after watching one of your videos, and am very happy with it, and I'm ready for another beginner plane before I take the plunge and get a full size one.
Looked like a great day to fly & you had an awesomely big field 🏉🏈 for flying. You guys always score goals [-] with your videos. Great little plane for the park. Have a fun weekend SKY SAYLOR'S. ⚓⚓👍💚👍🏈👍⚓⚓.
Really appreciate this video! Love learning on this little guy and can’t wait to get my second plane already. Wouldn’t have bought it had I not watched you make it so damn fun so thanks for the new addiction lol
That's cool,I bought one 3 years ago,and have the float kit,I call it ol reliable...love it!
Just got mine today flies so beautifully in beginner mode can't wait to try the other modes
Late squad tonight happy flying all have good weekend be safe 😎😎😎😎⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
I’m way out in Southern AZ where you can only comfortably fly 7 months of the year due to extreme heat, but this channel keeps me looking forward to seasons.
I’m glad you did this video, I went with the Habu over this, but I’m thinking this would be great for small spots like you said and easier to travel with!
Mine flew awesome five times then the elevator servo locked up and it went straight down and broke the nose off. Called the mfg and they are shipping me a new board for free. Great customer service!
Sorry to hear about the crash, but bravo to the company behind it for doing the right thing! That's how you do it right!
I like the turbo on that plane the sound was awsome.well worth the money to get that much sound out of such a small plane great vid.
Just got it for 160. Can’t wait to try it.
Love this airplane!!!!!! It and the carbon cub S2 were the first two I purchased along with the GPS, and landing sensor.
I have 2 of them and have flew them at lest 50 times with no problem and yes it is the best.
Really glad you agree! 👍😁😎⚓
Thank you I am a beginner flyer so this is amazing
Aww man today I got mine blown away by 15+ kmh winds and some unlucky placed thermals, fortunately I found it again about a kilometre away from where I was. This truly is one of the best rc planes for beginners, however the only problem that could be considered a upside is how light it is, never fly it on a 10+ kmh wind since itll mess up your flight, wait for low or no wind at all. Great vid!
I love mine. I’d say a very awesome step up from this, would be the UMX turbo timber. 👍
Great video
You are correct, sir! Couldn't ask for a better trainer. i even fly mine on windy days, the AS3X works amazingly well. If you fly off grass there is little chance of damage when crashing. Any time I've damaged mine was when flying into pavement, tree trunks or road signs!
I got the same one a few years ago but mine was a bind and fly....Spektrum.
They still sell BNF as well! 👍😁😎⚓
Get er done mountain dew man!!! Lol
Good video, going to have to get one for my wife when she gets comfortable with the transmitter controls and wants to fly.
Nice Was almost going to buy this but my money is all gone and my mini apprentice S is arriving today.another grate vid and love the content👍👌😀😎🤟😁
The Apprentice s is a great plane if you go to my channel I got some videos of it and a bunch of other stuff if you feel up to it stopped by to check out for my videos and if you wouldn't mind to sub to it I also hooked it up to fpv
@@saittafpv5846, the Mini Apprentice is one step above Sport Cub S2 ....
Both are great planes for someone learning how to fly or simply relaxing and enjoying the hobby !
@@pedromonteiro2941 yeah I have all types of them I have a couple Nitroplanes I have a P-51 Mustang got a couple fixed wings I got a bunch of different flitetest planes in all types of others but I am just trying to make CZcams videos to share a hobby with everybody
Fun and simple equal success
Thanks for the channel leared alot from it. Question I have a Cub sport s and fly it on a spectrum 8 how do you go through the modes on a bnf compared to a rtf with there radio?
thanks in advance
I have this model. Double up the tape in the hinges for the tail as soon as you can. Run a strip of tape on the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer as soon as you can. Be mindful of the wing decals, they can come off in flight and crash you.
Having said all of this. I LOVE mine! it is a blast to fly, but I had bits falling apart early while I learned, so I want you to enjoy it as long as you can!
It is a really fun to fly plane as long as there is NO wind. With almost any wind, it is under powered. Don't expect a lot of aerobatics, as it doesn't have the power to do many of them. In normal mode, it has a terrible altitude increase. Once you get to Stunt 2, it flies fun. It is very sensitive to any thermals due to its light weight.
Love this plane, I have two. Still fly them almost daily, charge n toss.
Got one on the way. I have some 2 and 3 channel planes, and now wanting to move up to a 4 channel.
I have this one on the way from Horizon...Sadly I did not see this video until after to purchase threw your link. I live in south Florida where there is always some kind of breeze....I am going to try to teach myself....wish me luck!
The best one I had never seen in my whole life ..
Lots of Horizon / Hobbyzone haters around, but all in all they probably bring more new folks into RC than anyone else. I've been a customer since my very earliest days in the hobby. In those days, something this small with any kind of wind meant no fly day. Now with SAFE mode and AS3X even with safe off can compensate for a fair amount of wind. Hate to sound like too much of a fan boy, but Horizon was one of the few companies to keep offering traditonal helicopters during the drone craze. So many others fell by the wayside.
Super cool! ✨✅✨Your Awesome.
Thr sport cub for me started a umx addiction... all thr as3x umx planes fly so dang good. I've had every cub release, beast 3d, yak, sukoi, habu,a10, citation, and several others. I recently just got the timber x, and it's soon good. I fly, crash, glue, and repeat till I just retire them. I have a huge umx electronis collection
I agree 100%
Best beginner RTF RC airplane in the market !
I should know, I have one !
Cheers !
I have this plane, it flies great. I would say a great second plane would be the Volantex sport cub 500. It flies just as easy but is much faster and less floaty in the air which makes it a tiny bit more difficult.
dude if you turn the throttle off, it glides soooo well. because of this, you can get like 10 minutes per battery
That is awesome!! Happy Flying! 👍💯😎⚓️
Jacknoham! Did not expect to see you here!?! I’ve been trying to find a good rtf plane under $200 should I get this???
I just bought this yesterday I’m so excited!!!!
Very awesome! And if you ordered yours through our link, we Thank You very much for supporting our channel! Happy Flying! 👍😁😎⚓️
30 seconds in I flew it into a tree. I’m outside a park right now at 8:54pm and my bf is trying to get it down with a pvc pipe 🤣😭
@@misha3509update on it?
Hmm..... why haven't I ever flown this plane? 😫
Well Grampa, ya got 300 and some days left to work this little guy into your line up. 😀
You need to!
I've had done setbacks with my P 51D and I've been looking at orbs rtfs and I'm looking hard at this one, I'll use your link if course, thank you. Will it fly with a 2S?
Still love mine even having many other planes, on my 4th motor. Only downside of this one is the motors burn out after a few hours, but they are inexpensive and pretty easy to replace.
Mine never burn
I fly full throttle battery after battery. Never in the rain
I'd love to get one of these could you show me what you with the controls like how to take off/land? What to do in certain situations please.
Oh yeah for the SPORT CUB!! Tired too; Drank a Dr. Pepper at 11:30p.m. & ! just got up just to watch your video!! GREAT job Saylors!! Good afternoon!! 💟👍😘
Lol Jan, you sound so much like me! If I had the choice 24/7 I would stay up late playing video games and wake up just whenever I felt like it. Taco Bell and Mt. Dew would keep me going 'till I inevitably died a year or so later... But it would be a fun year!!
@@TheRcSaylors LOL!!Tonight am having a taco salad and 3 crispy tacos BUT no Dr. P.!! 👍🚑
Is it good enough for a small fpv aio cam on it? Also can i switch the receiver and transmitter to my flysky?
I love that thing. I have one of each (the original and S 2) because v1.0 started acting weird. I guess I hit a few things here and there (and maybe knocked the motor completely off its mount once - dang pavement and wing stalls). Anyway, I still fly them both. Just fantastic for around the back yard or the cul de sac, along with a few other favorites (Night Vapor and more recently the UMX Radian - love that thing too). The Sport Cub v1.0 sometimes doesn't listen when I ask it to bank starboard. I need to cut the tape (again) and see if I can find the ESC wire or connection that needs repair.
Absolutely love this plane, only issue I have with mine is all of a sudden the ailerons started moving in the same direction rather than opposite directions so I can’t fly it lol. Been trying to see if there is a way to reverse the servo, but looks like there ain’t. Re- bind the transmitter and still no results. And trying to get a hold of Horizon Hobby support... well no results as well lol.
Another informative video, I am an experienced RC.er, I'd like to get one of these to replace my older Champ S+, I noticed the motor is not an outrunner type but a geared one, .was this a cost savings? Are GPS electronics upgraded? Thanks so much!
I wore the motor out on mine flying it for my dog to chase. Pretty hard gain altitude fast enough to dodge when she goes for it now.
I like this plane
Can you guys try the motion rc mig 15 as it is only $109 making it one of the cheapest edf planes I have seen recently
I got it and crashed it... A lot... But now I got my Night Vapor, and even though I had to reattach one of the ground wires, it flies great! Quick tip for the vapor, the battery Velcro sucks really bad, so tie a bread bag tie around it with the Velcro and it works really well. The Cub was crashed, and I threw it away before I realized that you could buy new fuselages.
Being a beginner this was the first plane I bought and absolutely love flying it around at the local parks baseball field.
Hi Warren,
When you purchased this place did you have experience with a flight simulator? I want to purchase this plane but I'm not sure if I should use a flight sim first.
@@thomasballard5381. Sorry for not replying much sooner. I just noticed your message.
No experience at all. It is really easy to fly and has a switch on the remote to change experience level. Just try not to fly it in wind. It can't handle a lot of that.
@@warrenwells5498 thank you for the response!
If you want to learn to fly...This is the plane. I 100% recommend this plane and only this plane.
that bug REALLY wanted to be on youtube 🤣 also can you review the rage rc micro sports cub s2?
I run battery after battery on this plane. It never shuts down from heat. This plane is fun. Pick up the bigger battery to combat wind up to 5 mph.
Yep, great plane for teaching yourself to fly. Calm winds and a little open space and you're good to go. Easy to repair and replace motor which will probably need replacement if you fly a lot.
Don't forget that it also has dual rates. Press in on the right stick. Useful when first flying in experienced mode.
Can you use the transmitter for other planes other than this one? Thanks
Please mention that there is a difference between Basic RFT and completely ready to fly (according to Hobby Zone). My Hobby Zone RTF plane came without the battery and as a result does not have to comply with the FAA ruling for only manufacturing remote ID ready planes since the end of 2022. Additionally, Hobby Zone has currently no plans to supply remote ID solutions. Of course, they did not mention this when I bought the plane and it would be nice to know this kind of stuff. It is a beginner plane afterall.
I don’t usually like small ones but it’s so slow I can handle it, so I may force myself to get into flying eventually lol. I’ve said that for a decade
Are pullers/ front propeller planes easier to operate? I had a pusher style with the propeller at the rear and it was incredibly hard to fly for a beginner.
I then tried a AX800 puller/front prop and it was as easy as steering a plane in GTA when the wind was low.
Was my pusher plane just junk or are pushers in general a lot harder to control?
So I got this plane for Christmas I used it for the first time today 12/26/2021 I was flying it and all of a sudden it flip and hit the ground not too high just like 4 ft I checked on it and the left pitch servo on the wing was smoking I found the replace ment part but idk how to replace it help?
That's my go-to indoor flyer. Also a great flyer at sunset when the air gets still. Too light to break on impact.
I hate that you didn;t ever got to experience the Hobbyzone Supercub. Great 3 channel flyer. Made learning really fun. It blows my mind that Horizon doesn't still produce this plane.
5:06 you an me both, bro. I fell asleep around 5am cuz I was up all night with a nasty cough. Literally didnt stop choking my brains out for a solid 5 minutes. That was rough.
I just bought this plane because I am taking your advice. I have eflight Apprentice 15e. I can fly but can't land. Hoping this plane helps me to land my Apprentice. Do you have any advice?
It's absolutely a super easy flier even at moderate winds! I have already burned two motors though. Beware not to fly full throttle all of the time, it will shorten the lifespan of the tiny brushed motor!
The only thing is they don't have enough power to perform well at half or 3/4. Just get a carbon cub S2 they're 3 times as large and they're brushless so full throttle all the way
Have you any suggestions on keeping yourself from flying away when you think you are flying it towards you.??
I own this 615mm, but I love my Cessna 182, looking at my 1st jet
I found this at my local hobby town in canary yellow for $99. I broke one prop lol need to work on my landing.
Tbh, This one I have. its been a year now and ONLY the prop fell off (Only because i'm bad at flying) But its worth the money!
You could have watched all 3 extended LOTR movies :-)
Just picked this up today- haven't had it out at all yet of course but I'm looking forward to it. Started with the cheapest P-51D from Volantex and this seems like it'll be more fun and even teach me to use the other plane a little better.
Was it more fun than the P51? I have the Corsair
I bought the p40 back in March love it even tho the landing gears busted this one may b my next one when I get paid Tuesday
Question - my rudder doesn’t move with the controller. Should it?
What’s the difference between the sports cub S and S2?
Can I bind it to my Spektrum DSX?
I was about to buy than checked the website and says discontinued, is there another website you can buy this rc plane on?
Nice....👌
👍😁😎⚓
Lots of fun while it lasts. Prop pinion easily slides off motor pinion. Keep this in mind when you take a noser, even a light one, and your motor winds up but not prop. Then you fix that and discover it keeps popping off- then maybe you have a cracked motor mount.
And a good choice of cullers yours is blue my one's yellow and also red green and orange I think that even do one in pink
