I’m watching this an exact year after you posted this and with my first Prophecy Stone (I covered it when you cut it because I didn’t want it to feel scared)

Just an FYI as to the colours and differences between the inner vs outer "stone"- These are pseudomorphs (basically a process where 1 or more materials form a structure and over a long time period the mass retains it's appearance but different materials replace the original inside- think about petrified wood) The original materials in prophecy stone are marcasite and / or pyrite giving the obvious shapes but these are replaced by other "ore" materials; almost exclusively hematite and / or goethite (often written as limonite var.). I hope I articulated this well enough- coming off a 24 hrs but was curious to see the cut! Thanks for posting!

I polished the one i had
Its just really black with orange rings and very smooth

  • @outdooradventureswithfayde6832

I did not think it was going to look like that on the inside. Hahaha, honestly expected it to be cooler. You just never know until you cut into them sometimes. It was definitely really neat to see inside of it, and now we know. Thanks, Kyle, and to the person who donated it 😊.

Your welcome! It's always fun to cut rocks open to see what's inside. This was on the list and I'm glad I was able to do it thanks to that kind person!

I would assume that if you did get a good polish on them, it would reveal an orangey-red core/seed/nut/whatever that would be slightly color-changing.. Thanks to the person gifting the specimen for this experiment too.

At some point, I'll polish it up so we can really get a better look :)

I found one exactly like a prophecy stone, but on a mountain top in Wyoming.

Cool video World of Rock Hounds, I am surprised! I would have thought it would look the same throughout, I wonder if the outside color is from weathering? And yes, please do polish to a glossy shine when you get time. Thanks for doing this.

The outside looks like the gum on the movie "my favorite martian" that turns people into a big green alien creature.

Very interesting! It looks rather like a slightly rusty metallic rock. That is just an interesting stone. Im still not sure why they are called "prophecy stones" but they are interesting! Thanks you know who you are, for the donation, and thanks Kyle, for sharing!

I should look into why they are called that! And thank you to the person that donated it :)

    • @widowedsorcerer
      @widowedsorcerer Před 6 měsíci +2

They are called prophecy stones because of reported prophetic visions from people holding a stone in each hand while meditating. They are also supposed to synchronize the bodies energy fields ( referring to the auric/etheric or energy bodies) plus they are found in the Egyptian/Libyan desserts (egypt and the pyramids mystical connection) and said to be created from meteor strikes in the dessert so they can also be considered starborn. I just think they are cool stones@@WorldofRockhounds

That was interesting, the polished side looked like it had a little eye in the centre. The outside was very cool with all the little points. A very messy stone to cut for sure😊

Really cool stone for sure. I got 2 from you and my son and I love them. They are definitely one of a kind stones, and are easily recognized if you know what they look like. Inside they look like the outside in color, the little core in the center I didn't expect. Thank you to the person who donated it to be cut! Thanks for sharing the inside of a prophecy stone with us Kyle!✌️🤠🤘

There's actually a lot of really similar material in Missouri! I'm sure I sent you some. It's the brownish red material on some of the druse quartz. I cut a couple pieces last year (video was too shaky I never posted) and I had similar results. I have found a couple pieces that were still shiny inside when I broke them, but the norm seems to be completely converted to limonite throughout the entire stone. Tons of this limonite after marcasite at Haunted Ridge and all around Washington county. I have also found some limonite after pyrite (different than Washington county cubic definitely pyrite) in the geode creek near my home and that's all golden inside. Also we have found tons of calcite in that spot and even one nice piece of fluorite! I haven't filmed there yet due to various dumb reasons but it'll happen soon lol.

I'm sure you did! I just need to check the shelf and the boxes haha
But there will always be time to film :)
