For the record, one of the exercises I did in art college was blind contour drawing. ie; look at a subject, and draw it without looking at the paper. Usually they came out looking like spaghetti, but I did pretty well. Also, it didn't really matter how good they looked, because they were *exercises.*
That being said, when I say "there are greater challenges than blindfolded pottery," I am speaking from experience (not making an argumentum ad verecundiam, just relating my personal experience in blind arts).
