How does someone walk across train tracks and not look??? An 18 year old? Was he depressed? This sounds like something deliberate, not accidental.

A "necessary evil"? What, the trains or all the warning devices? That's a bizarre way to describe either.

Life changing for driver in the worst way.

Ya, the old people don’t allow the trains to blow their horn in town. There are signs warning that the horns don’t blow. I am 73, but have no patience with other old grumpy people that want no noise. It will happen again. I live north side of town where we hear the train whistle, and I love the sound. Get used to it! The accident happened where the horns are allowed, but where they aren’t allowed, there is much more foot traffic.

Was he wearing ear buds? Maybe didn't hear the train. I worked at Gunderson for over 3 decades and you have to be careful around rail traffic.

Unfortunately this isn’t the first time nor will it be the last time that someone has been killed here by a train. We’ve been trying for years to come up with a way to prevent this sort of thing from continuing to happen, but other than rerouting the train or building crosswalk bridges over the tracks there’s no way of stopping it!

And yet Canby residence decide to make it so trains don’t use their horns at half the railroad crossings in town??? How can you say you’re trying to make things better then Canby residence go around and do crap like that??

  • @matthewadventureexploratio6596

That’s why we need to think about Grade Separation Project. Building Bridges is Very Important, so you won’t get struck by a Train.

This is why I’m in favor of relocating the Union Pacific mainline to the west side of the willamatte river and the willamatte valley so that the Union Pacific Railroad between Oregon City and Salem can be reduced from mainline railroad to a Branchline railroad to reduce traffic and make that so it would have it sell the right of way for a Brooklyn Trail. This is the Brooklyn subdivision mainline that must be taken out of service for safety reasons and make that a bike trail and then help pedestrians have a place to go other than driving by car.
