- One of my first ever Gib's Bike Shop custies is moving out of town and dropped off an abandoned vintage mountain bike project! This is a very cool, very original Mongoose ATB from back when ATBs were actually ATBs! No conversion necessary. This one is already what you want! Old school mountain bike tech at it's finest. A very fun project from a box of parts to a really funky all-rounder, practical bike. This is part 2 of 3. Enjoy the ride!

Contrary to common bike tire mounting practice these days, my days wrenching in the bike shops in the 70's & 80's, was always taught to put the tire spec.s on the tire mounted at the valve stem......lol!
I find folding tyres easier to install, just put a little air in the tube first. I don't bother with tyre levers, I've never needed them. I'm not sure why everyone has so much trouble.
It's a technique I learnt when I was a kid and had weaker hands, I had a couple of tyre levers but they would fall out and be finicky. Since I learnt this technique I haven't even found the desire to want a tyre lever.
That is a beautiful bicycle. I went to HS in the 70’s and had a Schwinn Varsity. Later, I bought a 1990 Stumpjumper. I had so much fun on both bikes. Recently, I purchased a Salsa Journeyer to ride again. All the gravel is now chip n seal but there are gravel & paved bike paths in my region. I’m enjoying your channel.

I have been running CST Sensamo Control commuter tires on my old 26er that I ride around town. They are 26x2 ish rated to 75psi and really awesome on pavement. I.e fast, grippy, supple, look cool, and are cheap. They have been fine when I have taken them off road on some flat singletrack, dirt road, or gravel paths. Of interest is they are also rated for winter use, but I haven't tested that yet. They are a really good inexpensive option for fixing up old 26ers that are mostly going to be ridden around town, for commuting, or whatever and I have yet to get a flat with them using for urban riding.
My frame is 19 inch what rang size of tires could I use I know it says on factory ones want some better ones for dirt trails?? Sorry for my bad bad ADHD 🎉❤❤
My tires say 27.5 what other sizes could I run frame is 19inch thanks?
You don’t even need to look for the arrow on Maxxis as the compound/logos are always on the drive side.

Which end of the psi spectrum offers the least rolling resistance? I ride short distances so comfort or supple is #2. Im old but wanna go fast.?
How long is a piece of string? There are many variables. Tire pressure is a personal preference determined by trial and error!
