  • Watch as I replace the Intuvia display lithium battery on my Gen2 Bosch ebike ( Felt Dual-e ). This fixes the problem where the bike won't turn on from the display, but turns on from the main battery.

    And 4 years later, this video exactly solved the problem that I was having with my bike battery and display. Pressing the little button you demonstrate at :23 seconds on the battery did the magic. Thank you!

    Did this today in about 25 minutes and that included 10 minutes drilling out the two screws I stripped. Easy peasy.
    Another 10 for that silly skinny gasket.

    Thank you so much for this video! Following your steps solved my problem completely! After struggling with those 2 screws covered in goop, I simply drilled the heads out with a small drill bit and relied on the remaining 5 screws to hold the unit together after soldering in the replacement battery. Bravo to you for posting this video!

      I did the same. Add a dab of sealant over the now open screw holes.

    I too had the exact same problem. I ordered the battery months ago on Amazon. It was time today to put it in. Great instructions. My battery was swollen up 3 x thicker!!! Exacto knife
    for the goop and #0 phillips and soldered in just as on video. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Great video - thanks. For those wanting to order a new battery before getting their controller apart, the dimensions of the original battery are about 30mm x 20mm x 4mm. Do not exceed the 20mm width as it has to fit between the spring contacts with the back, and a bracing post.

    • @tarickw
      @tarickw Před 2 lety +1

      Can confirm those dimensions are correct. Mine was a bit taller though at 5mm, so there might be a bit more space in there

    Great video. Thanks a lot. I had ordered a new main battery, like for 800 $, but it did not resolved the issue !!! My Haibike has like 6000 miles so I thought the display turning off was caused by the main battery going dead. It was not. I switched displays with another similar bike and it worked fine. I will get a new display since I am pretty sure I will screw up if I start the soldering process you presented and executed with great detail. Thanks again !!

    Thanks for the great and helpful video. The screws take a #0 size phillips head screwdriver, which is typically found in a "miniature screwdriver" set for detail work. A #1 or (more common) #2 will likely strip the screws. I was able to scrape away the waxy screw lock material over the middle screws with a tiny straight bladed screwdriver and clear the path before attempting to remove the screws.

    So this is definitely the issue I have. I havent open my unit but I can swear by the battery being dead.
    I always take the unit off to prevent theft. I usually charge the bike and the head unit might be in my coat.
    Not once did anyone notify me of the charging process. I'm now looking to buy a solder kit and batteries off amazon and they will be here in a months time.
    The dealer for my bicycle has not yet gotten back to me except basically troubleshooting.
    What a silly design flaw... if youre not aware of it.

      @AboutFocusTV Před 4 lety

      Yes I'm also having this problem and like you trying to charge via the USB port. Mine also goes off while charging so not sure this will work. One work around I have found however is that if I connect a usb power pack to the head unit whilst it is in its handlebar cradle I can switch the bike on and it will work. Not a permanent solution so hopefully the usb charge will work, if not probably have to buy a new head unit.

Will it work as normal once it is on so can I continue to use it in this way? It's not a great problem switching it on this way every time but I am not clear why this works and if the unit once it's on will continue to function during a bike ride as normal.
