One of these days, I hope to actually get to Dublin. Some friends of mine did in 2014 and they made it sound amazing! Sadly, life's a little crazy right now, so it's not on the agenda. But hey, it could happen.

At 3.37 is incorrect. It wasn't a cosy joint effort with the Irish and English. The vikings were largely gone before that, it was Brian Boru who is considered to have ended the Viking invasion of Ireland. Diarmaid Mac Murchada fled to England to seek help after being in a feud with another Irish king. This proved to be a fatal error as it essentially marked the beginning English invasions and persecutions for hundreds of years to follow.

They weren't gone as such but they were well integrated into irish society by that stage so the irish had no reason to get rid of them. Then as now there would have been tension between city and country ,but dublin would have been a huge source of tribute for the provincial and high king so they wouldn't have wanted them gone and neither would the normans.

Since you thought it was an amusing thing to speak about the population of Dublin in what sounded very much like an underlying prejudice or allusion to an anti-Irish joke, but which no doubt you will deny. You could at least give the correct population figure for the metropolitan Dublin area which is: over two million since 2021. You may not fully realise the prejudice you are displaying since you speak to a culture that ignores any facts outside its sense of superiority. I would advise you examine yourself and the little quips you think are funny from a British perspective and don't fall back on: oh they're all so over sensiitive and they hate us Brits. We don't, we just see you as you are.
