Couldn't agree more. I entered law school in 2018 at the age of 62, working and a grandfather. I finished last year, passed the 2022 bar and took my oath as a lawyer on May 2, 2023, at the age of 67.
Congratulation panyero!
@@TheDeanLawChannel Thank you, sir!
You are truly an inspiration. Thank you.
67 years young. You have many years remaining to continue helping the whole of humanity.
You rockkkkkkkk! ❤ very motivational I’m 32 and have several doubts
My aunt became a lawyer at age 51. She entered law school when she was 44 years old, took the BAR 3 times.
I'm really proud of her.
And she is inspiring as well. This proves, one should never give up their ambition and dreams. Thanks for the comment and the view.
Wow inspiring.. I'm 39 and planning to take up law next year.
what was her first job after passing the bar?
@@peterpiper5300 She stayed in her government job, she just got promoted. She didn't change her job because it's already well-paying I think. And she's after the retirement benefits.
Same here, Corduroy. I'm 39. Will go to law school next AY 2022. Yay!
i needed this because i just turned 39 last week and I am so contemplating on going to law school next year. being a lawyer has been my dream since grade school and now that I have a daughter, I would be doing her a disservice if she finds out about my dream and I did not pursue it plus, i am so inlove with the law. Thank you for this Dean
There should be nothing that should stop you. It's never too late. Be who you want to be
Go for it!!!!
What did you decide?
@@jayo523 I have decided to do it. I have already started processing my admission to San Beda University but I would try my luck in UP Law and Ateneo next year. Hopefully I pass the UP LAE and ALS. I will also set up a fund raising for my law school study because I honestly can not afford it :)
@@NoelAntonioAvisadoIII congratulations and good luck! Looking back I wish I would have gone for it 4 years ago when I really first started contemplating it.
As a 37 year old wondering if it’s really not too late/if I’d be wasting time that could be spent doing something else, this is such an encouraging perspective. Great, great video - thank you so much Dean! God bless you 🙏🏾
I just accepted a 70 year as a first year law student.
I entered Law School at age 50, 2013. 30 years out of College. I got my JD/LLB 2017age 54. I have 4 children, three of them graduated college, during my Law school days. 😊
And Sir, may I say, its not what you know before entering Law school, but its what not they, but you don't know.
In other words, drop all baggages. Open your mind. You'll need it.
Nice to see a fellow lawyer here. Great tips for law student Leonard.
I am now inspired after reading your comment. Now, I am embarking on the journey.
Did you get any clients and were you hired at a firm?
I entered law school at 28. I am now 32. I stopped this sem because of severe depression (from family problems, getting burnt out from a dead end job, recent break up, and getting tested positive for COVID-19). My anxiety went worse for stopping this sem because I am afraid I might graduate or take the bar/pass the bar only at my mid 30s. I've been feeling like a failure and that I am getting behind in life. This video eased my worries. Thanks, dean!
Hi Plarlene. You have quite a story. I sincerely hope that you continue. I have students in Caloocan who are in their 40s and 50s. You can make it!
awesome
The people that dislikes this vid are the young peoples that thought being a lawyer is for young ones only.
I am sorry for the late reply. Was on holiday. I appreciate your comment. God Bless.
Ouch 😓 the majority of the excuses are my excuses 😅. I'm turning 42 in December and I really really REALLY wanted to become a lawyer to the point where some people thought I am a lawyer 🤣. Thanks for your videos Dean. No room for excuses anymore 🙏.
Go for it! My record is 62 years old. He was doing great until Covid stopped him.

Thanks D Mo!
I entered Law school in 2001 when I was just 27, but quit when I was in Third Year because of work and family. In the next several years I would contemplate going back, but those very same reasons---work and family--and now age, would hold me back.
This February I finally took the plunge and re-enrolled. I'm now 47.
I will be re-taking some of the subjects because their unit requirements are different now, and there are new ones that I'll need to take, but being mature have taught me to be patient, if not persevering. The delay in re-enrolling has set me back maybe a couple of years, but I figure I'll just go ahead and enjoy the journey in the years ahead because I'm sure, before I know it, It'll be time for me to finally take the Bar.
I only just saw this video, but this inspires me to keep going. I also feel like it validates my decision to go back to Law at such a mature age. The regret that I had procrastinated for years is still there, but I'm starting to slowly move on away from it.
Salamat, Dean.
You are very much welcome. I am elated that I confirmed your decision to go back to law. Just tell what can of help you need in case you are in a rut

Thank you SO MUCH for this video. Two of my close Law School friend just became judges in NYC yesterday. I am OVERJOYED for them abs it has inspired me to DUST OFF and pursue a legal career AGAIN. I graduated law school in 1996 when I was pregnant with my 1st daughter who is now 24. I missed passing the NYC BAR by 40 points and I ended up focusing on raising and homeschooling my 3 children. Do you have any advice about how I should start studying for the Bar Exam? I am WAAY OUT OF TOUCH right now, but your video has ABSOLUTELY given me the courage to get back to studying and practicing law 🙏🏾💜🙏🏾
In the Philippines, law school offers refresher courses (sort of repeating the final year of law school). Maybe take an intensive bar review course. Good luck!

Thank you Dean for this informative vedio, it helps a lot to all aspiring law students specially those law students their age numbers it was out in the calendar, as it says. Thank you, The Dean for your superb video. I guess the law is something new to me. I maybe will pursue it one day. I am deeply motivated by your video! I wasn't a major in law starting from my bachelor's, master's, and diploma and I guess maybe my path is to be an educator, etc since my major and minor are in education, in arts (English) and communication. I think the law path might be what I venture into/through one day once I have that path open for me as I think that path is still unavailable currently. I think I will be in my 30 plus maybe mid-30s if I study another new bachelor of law, which I think I might have to restart a new bachelor of law, which I think many will think why should I restart from the beginning? right now, I'm in my 29. I hope for your advice, The Dean. Thank you very much, The Dean.

Hi Atty. Next year nalang po ako mag la-law school. By the way I'm 26 now. Nasasayangan po talaga ako pero baka hindi ko pa po time mag law school.
Hello Neeeccaniks, I totally understand. Take heart that you passed the admission test. And yes, you can start when the timing is right. Also, I started law school at 29... so, its really not too late
@@TheDeanLawChannel Salamat po sa words of encouragement. Ang tanong ko nalang po, ano po ang maganda kong gawin as preparation for next year. Yes. As long as you are a graduate with a bachelor's degree. Just present a TOR to the school you applying to.

I dreamed of becoming a lawyer ever since. But then due to financial prob i was not able to pursue. I will be turning 38 this month and my desire to be a lawyer is still there. Is it ok to pursue at my age now? Or should i give up?
Don't give up. Its your dream. (Not was). If time is an issue, some law schools have a working student program where classes are at night and on weekends. Pursue it.
I am 51 and have been contemplating to take up law... but I don't think my bosses would give me a recommendation letter... Is there any way po Sir that I could apply for law school without a recommendation from work? I currently hold a 9-5 job... and have been passed over for promotion for years, been doing clerical work for years 😔... i just want to prove to myself that maybe I could still level up that I am smart, but just under-appreciated at work...
I don't require a recommendation letter from an employer. A lawyer friend may suffice. But I don't require them in my school.
@@TheDeanLawChannel thank you Sir, this gives me a lot of hope. 🙏

atty. I have a question. do you have to be a polsci or a legal management grad to be able to enroll to law school? I'm an animal science grad but I really want to know please your reply will be highly appreciated. thank you!
Technically, any degree shall make you eligible. You do have an interesting degree.
Hi Dean! After graduating and passing the bar, are the opportunities the same for young and older new lawyers? Are there no preference in age when it comes to work?
Hi Cherryl, great question. I cannot deny that age is a factor in hiring at the big law firms. The older one is, the more spectacular the law school performance. But working for the judiciary or national government, it won't matter.
Atty I have a question if I want to be a lawyer at 36 years old can I get a scholarship @CHED? How hard is it, what do I need to do to finish the 5 years Saturday and Sunday classes? I am 36 y.o and child-like ☺️.
No CHED scholarship for law school. Some law schools have a working student program that makes majority of classes on Saturday and Sunday.
Funny
Why, thank you.
