Maile Flanagan talks about how she booked the role of Naruto!

- Maile reveals that she had plenty of worthy opponents for the role as the titular character of the wildly popular anime series. In fact, she was so nervous that she was actually sweating during her audition! Luckily, Maile didn’t let her nerves get the best of her and pushed through, even though the audition was, in her own words, “a lot of work”!
Aside from being the voice of Naruto in the English dub, Maile is also known for her roles such as Piggley Winks in Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks and Terry Perry in Lab Rats. She has also made several television appearances in popular shows like The Office, Shameless, and Grey’s Anatomy!
Maile is definitely a WONDERFUL example of what can happen when you take a chance and follow your passion!

I think it’s brilliant that she’s also the Principal from Lab Rats, when I first got into Naruto in 2019 I was like huh? He sounds familiar, then I realized it was the Principal from Lab rats. 😂
I realized this more recently it was 2021 I realized it was the Principal from lab rats.
She’s my whole childhood and adulthood because I still haven’t finished the show, I’m still waiting for Hulu to fully release English for Shippuden because I LOVE THIS GAL

The MAJORITY of young male characters in anime (both sub AND dub) are voiced by women. The reason why is pretty clear, an adult female voice is extremely similar to a pubescent male voice, and adult actors are easier to work with.
Even the Japanese sub voice actor of Naruto is female. It’s a very common practice in voice acting
