- Dr John Harris joined us at our first Summit event in 2020 where he presented on his pioneering work in vitiligo research. He’ll be joining us again to update on progress over the past two years and discuss what the future of vitiligo research and treatments might look like.
About the speaker: Dr. Harris is Chair of Dermatology, Director of the Autoimmune Therapeutics Institute, and Director of the Vitiligo Clinic and Research Center at UMass Chan Medical School. He is a dermatologist and physician-scientist, caring for patients in a vitiligo specialty clinic and running a research laboratory focused on understanding disease pathogenesis and developing new treatments. His group integrates basic, translational, and clinical research strategies to accomplish this. As a result, clinical trials in vitiligo have shown success. Dr. Harris founded Villaris Therapeutics and Vimela to develop new vitiligo treatments, as well as NIRA Biosciences and Aldena Therapeutics for inflammatory skin diseases.

Hi Savy, are you able to email your question to our team? They can then forward it to our consultant dermatologist for a response - hello@vitiligosociety.org.uk
@@TheVitiligoSocietyUK can you say block il-15 when IT will BE Released
This sounds so promising. Thanks Vitiligo Society. My dermatologist prescribed Azathioprine 50mg. But i don't know whether it will help me or have more side effects.
If you are located in USA you can ask for ruxolitnib it is for vitiligo. But needs to be covered by insurance because its way to expensive. But it is the first FDA approved treatment for vitiligo, quite recently approved.
If you want any more information about a treatment you have been prescribed, or it's side effects then you can email our team: hello@vitiligosociety.org.uk and our team can provide you with some more information on its suitability and potential side effects.
@@TheVitiligoSocietyUK plz reply 😢😢 When will the permanent treatment of vitiligo come? One has to face a lot.
@@TheVitiligoSocietyUK Is cure for vitiligo possible? If not please atleast try to develop a treatment which can permanently stop the spreading vitiligo or the patches!!
@@rohityadavv756 Currently researchers do not know enough about why vitiligo occurs to develop a cure, however this is being looked into by experts in the US. We are aware of 3 different treatments currenting in clinical trials, so we are expecting more effective options to be appearing over the next few years in addition to the recently licenced Ruxolitinib.

For the first time we have dedicated researchers working on understanding the causes of vitiligo, and now we have the first FDA approved vitiligo treatment. Some small but really significant steps for our community, and we're sure there'll be more to follow.
@@TheVitiligoSocietyUK thank you. You are doing a good job. And that day will come soon when you guys will announce for the cure❤️
