I recently took a golf lesson from the best professional I have met, in Miami, and he told me to do this exact drill. It has completely transformed my swing and ball flight. I use it for driver also especially to stop my ugly duck hook! excellent video.
I'd caution against too much of this drill, as it can lead to bad habits vs. the full swing and hold your finish. Stop drills can be very good to see key points in the swing, but maybe alternating a stop swing with a full swing is a good idea? This is my experience with baseball.
