This is the Hill Street pedestrian crossing at Tamworth, located in northern New South Wales, Australia. These signals were installed on 27 - 30 June 1997 along with the other pedestrian crossing at Fitzroy Street.
Both signals have Klaxon sounders, Aldridge Electrical "Don't Walk" lights and GRS (General Railway Signal Company) semaphore gate mechanisms.
The train shown in the video is NP23 Xplorer service from Sydney to Armidale.
Filmed on May 8, 2017.
Those yodalarms are definately headed for the tip!
It's a Klaxon sounder
Wow I'm glad I don't live near a crossing that sounds like that because my tinnitus would've gotten worse lol
2:18 that alarm sounds broken! I think an e2s alarm might be a good substitute!
These look like the original alarms, so they are probably due for replacement!
The e2s is only available for UK crossings
Currently, yes.
Great catch and video! The alarms sound like they could use some work. Seems that the gate on your side got caught on something when it was lowering. I also wonder if any of these ped crossings still retain the original Eagle worded "Don't Walk" lenses?
Thankyou! It looks like the gate got caught on the fence. I'm fairly sure that the worded "Don't Walk" lenses are all gone, same as the worded "Stop" lenses. Even the Aldridge lights on this crossing are getting harder to find, as most have been replaced by United Group LED lights.
Anyone else hear a hint of Japanese railway crossings in the sounders?
Yes
That yodalarm sounds weard
thecubing kid yep kind of does to me how about you!??
Those Klaxon sounders are terrible!
It's not the most pleasant sound! Not sure if it was set to a different tone or it's just getting old.
