Since we all spent so much time on runescape, the first guy said we should atleast give the new game a try once it comes out. Runescape had the same creator back in the day.

@benjaminj8642 Runescape did have this feature, where you couldn't trade at all. That was mainly for all the scam trading and whatnot. That's where loaning items became thing.

I wonder what Runescape would of been had Andrew never sold it. That's what made RS so great back then, and meeting new people across the world in Varrock square. I look forward to this Brighter shores.

It gives off the vibe that Andrew regretted selling runescape off. To a very similar but smaller competitior. Really does give those vibes. Tbh their story telling was much better than we have now in runescape
In an interview I've seen he mentioned he didn't want to be CEO and in charge of everything- he naively (his words) assumed he'd still be able to provide direction (etc) to runescape, but realized once he sold it, he was out of the game

To my knowledge, the Gowers weren't the only ones who were responsible for RuneScape's amazing quest lore & all, 'cause up until sliske's endgame at least, the quests were gas and they weren't around for those anymore, were they? The reason why Extinction sucks ass is because they don't have those fire writers who'd worked on previous quests anymore, whose names I never even knew lol. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I'm quoting a friend when I say "they fired all the good writers"

@Snack_Foods I have very little doubt that's actually what happened. They saw he was tired of managing, but was still keen to lead on the creative process, which of course was why they even made Runescape to begin with. They wanted to make a game they wanted to play, and tell stories they wanted to tell. I think they coaxed him out of his shares by assuring him he can still "direct/guide" which is a half truth. He CAN, but it doesn't mean they have to follow since he no longer holds majority.
I hope the area's are bigger than what has been shown.

It’s just a teaser I’m sure they will be. These are the original RuneScape creators after all and they definitely didn’t let us down back in the day.

I imagine locking trading behind paid membership is to reduce the incentive to bot and by extension RWT.
Cant wait to try this! looks promising. I wish each instance was a little larger, but we havent actually seen real gameplay yet so maybe they do get bigger. Anyway, i'll give it a shot.
Player 2 player trading being (paywalled) is part of the extensive efforts his team is putting forth to combat botting and RWT!!
I'll only be playing if there is HCIM, otherwise i'll just stick to osrs

I do however hope it’s much more accessible to casual players who don’t want to grind all day.
I have a job, train Jiujitsu everyday, strength train 3x per week etc.
On top of that still gotta spend time with my girlfriend but if I could just chill on this every couple days for a few hours and still have fun I’m all for it!
It's already stated that it will be a less grindy game, maybe similar to rs3 or even less, also there will be offline limited activities which you can do, it will give less exp and loot but you will be getting resources for next day.
Paid trading is not as bad as it sounds GW 2 has the same thing (you have to buy expansion) and pretty sure FF14 does to

I’ll most likely be moving to Brighter Shores, played RuneScape since 2001 it’s just not the same anymore ever since the Gowers left it just felt off, having maxed now I feel there’s nothing to do besides hoarding gp
I personally feel like this has alot of potential. Mr Gower did it once.. can he do it again? His unique though process and moral compass is wat led our game to success in the first place. I will certainly try it on release, it would be kind rude not to. side note, it kinda feels like the name is a middle finger to Runescape and i love that.
I hope it does well and has it's own story lines and god factions etc etc. Exciting stoof.
the only thing shown that i feel off about is the tile movement system only because the tiles are blatantly shown and it looks weird in some areas. also i wonder if both the tile base and area tiles might be that way for randomization in certain areas.
In the QA, Andrew said despite the tiles, the movement is not limited to a tick rate, so expect fluent movement that we haven’t experienced before. Something I look forward to seeing.

I actually hope the classes are set and we can just have multiple character if we want to try new classes.

locking trading behind membership is actually a very effective way to combat bots. they get your money and ban your account. good idea in my opinion. If the only way to get things from one account to another is by trading and you're unable to drop items this is a good thing
They still pay for membership it’s too profitable to bot for them to worry about memberships
I think the passive is letting you know if you logout your activated passive will continue to timeout. Like a buff/aura on RuneScape.

Well.. I gave Andrew and bros my childhood and a chunk of my adult life. Suppose it’s only fitting to repeat the cycle.
Made with all the creative talent and mind built from a lifelong history of adventure and game development, fully invested by themselves. No external factors ruining anything. This shows great promise!
Something weird going on with the "areas" and the way they connect to each other... They're all like little puzzle pieces with "connectors"... Are we going to be able to kinda re-arrange the map? At 3:42, for instance, there are 2 areas connected that don't look like they really should be based on the floor patterns...

I read in an article that the areas are supposed to give this tabletop rpg vibe. I'm really curious how the game world is gonna come together too
@@plagmaticsGower's are big fans on D&D board games, so knowing this they are using this as a game mechanic, i mean for me personally i have no issues since it gives a charm to the game, since it's quite unique style, if game is addictive nobody will care, i remember when wow came out and everyone complain about cartoonist graphics, game for kids etc..
I wonder if the game will have something similar to skill mastery (99s) or if they will be a way to display those achievements. 🤔

I agree i read some comments here saying the game looks like it's from 2009, gaming gone down hill, most modern gamers only seeing graphics and nothing more, graphics good but with dull gameplay cough cough anthem, order 1892, mass effect Andromeda and others, then they buy these games because of graphics and cry because game is broken, but still go around and complain about other games bad graphics even tho these games are good, brainless zombies we have now
Paying for player to player trading sounds like a good idea to limit out of world trading and dealing with bots
as an OSRS player, i get the skepticism for locking trading behind p2p & all the other kind of out there systems, but im open minded to a very different experience from runescape and glad to see andrew being experimentitive before a meta forms in his game, and if its dogshit they can just patch that later.
really hoping they get more then just 3 combat styles out the box, and theres a good amount of focus on group gameplay

To me, the player to player trading being locked behind premium seems like a method to prevent botting, more than just greed. I don't agree with it personally, but I get why they'd come to that conclusion.
I hope there is an Ironman mode in this game, looks super intriguing from what we've seen.
to me the biggest difference between Brighter Shores and Runescape is the immersion. RS = vast areas to see vs BS = small rooms. It will be interesting to see how it plays out on release. Not many people like dungeoneering in RS and that is what Brighter Shores seems like so far.

I'm optimistic about this game to be honest, not much to go on yet but I have high hopes. I think the leadership of the company and the dev team are the most important thing and this game seems to have a great foundation in that regard. I understand your concern about locking free to play from trading, but I think it might just be what is needed to stop RMT and bots.

@@BrianWoodruff-Jr There has to be a tick system... Even online shooters have a tickrate... They're just much higher (20-128 ticks per second or so depending on the game, instead of Runescape's 1.666 ticks per second)...

Im hyped for it, will be giving it a try. its ticking all the right boxes for me presentation wise, i love the art style and the Iso view, only thing im kinda miffed about is "custom engine, custom programming language" like oh boy here we go again, soon we will hear about "engine limitations" followed by "spaghetti code" all over again. I can look past the custom engine if it was based off an existing engine but modified like alot of UE games are, but using both a in shop engine AND your own language? just look at runescape as a perfect example where mods can't fix certain things because they just dont know how cause the person who made it left i.e invention machines, POH
regarding the trading limitation, alot of mmos do it for their free trial, i.e. ff14 you cant use the AH as f2p mainly to curb bots/RWT. I think its a little heavy handed to lock f2p into basically ironman mode since they didnt indciate you can buy membership with in game currency so if lock payment methods to CC only. if some RMT operations are springing up, you can just block their payment cards. will it stop them? no but it will curb alot of the small fries
non player to player trading makes complete sense. Like big time. That way you remove free-to-play bots entirely. This is common sense.
Been playing since Feb 2001. The original RuneScape was a game for all types of players and playing styles. Todays game feels like it caters to the whims of the elite bossing crowd and doesnt leave paths for other types of playing styles or players.
It looks like it may be time to quit members and use the free version of Runerape as a chat program to keep in touch with friends that remain.What will the elite gamers do when theres no one let to sell their drops to?

Locking trading to membership will stop bots. I support it. F2P will last longer and be more fun if you can't trade and buy everything off the bat.

I think trading restriction is against people botting
If the premium pack is $5 a month like RS was when it came out, this game will succeed. Anything higher in terms of starting cost and I don’t think anyone will bother n today’s gaming age.
RuneScape has a type of lock on f2p trading. You can't trade massive wealth back and forth without members. So I'm not at all annoyed with membership to trade.

I expect it to be very popular with RS vets.
I'm not really a vet, but I'm excited for this game, It looks unique with tiles and black background, I played osrs but it's such a grind but I enjoyed because has freedom what to do, in other hand i liked rs3 graphics and less grindy nature, but hated mtx, hope this game is taken best things from both versions and mixed together, with unique game style they have.

Also 5:39, Locking player to player trading Is a strange thing to do, unless you want to make money off it.. Also i imagine there is an economy if there is player trading so i can figure on launch there will be massive bot farms if the game is free. Locking player trading is like a strict way of doing runescape 3 free trade limit. AKA you can only RWT if you pay us first. :D

I think locking player-to-player trading is the "Gower solution" to bots. They can perma-ban (or perma-delete) bot accounts and remove a 'trading cheater', and thus recouping a small, insignificant amount of money lost from RWT the bots do (by making bots need to be 'paying members' for EACH account (bot).😆🤣
It basically has a built in bot which should reduce a lot of botting.

well, its just runescape, but with the critical element that runescape has been lacking for years now.

Competition is what we need to force Jagex to do something and bring new content into the game. I hope this game succeeds and threatens jagex to lose its player base for the sake of saving RuneScape. They will have to compete with quality updates if they wanna keep making money.
