Thanks so much for sharing. I'll be trying it out tomorrow for my daughter's birthday cake. I actually appreciated all the mistakes. It showed the challenges and how to problem solve, rather than a highly edited, unrealistic tutorial. Thanks again for sharing.
This is basically a variation of a frozen buttercream transfer. If you print out the letters/design in mirror image instead, then you can freeze your finished design, and just flip it over and place it directly on the cake where you want it instead of trying to lift it off the wax paper and place it on the cake, which is problematic and has a high potential for breakage, especially with something delicate like letters. Overall nice idea, and workable with chocolate.
I will do this, thank you!
How do you print in mirror image?
Yes please share how we can print the letterings in mirror image. Thanks so much in advance.
Nice.Good for all who are afraid of writing on the cake.
Thanks a lot 😊
@@NerissaNikole u r welcome dear.
May I make a suggestion? Flip your pan over, print out 2 of your design and tape to the pan, then wax paper over top. You won’t have to transfer to the pan, risking messing up your design.
Thanks for the tip!
I don't understand what you're saying
@@ck1782she means to flip the sheet pan over so it’s upside down. This raises the surface to write on after you’ve taped the lettering to the bottom of the sheet pan to trace over. And it’s less of a risk of breaking your chocolate lettering by just keeping it on the pan to set. Does that help?
Thanks for that, I didn’t understand either. Now I get it, so you can put it straight into your fridge without lifting the wax paper onto the pan. Great tip, thanks.
@@ck1782 😂🙄😂😂
Brilliant! Best cake decorating hack ever.
😍
I just found you i have never seen anything like this you go for it girl I love you sweetie you get the cake done you go to talking about your family and take hours to make the cake you so so great 😀 i will be watching you from now on i can watch you ever day i enjoyed it sooo much
Great idea. Scrape your chocolate back in a bowl verses wiping it off with a towel. I kept screaming ching ching ching in the trash 🤣🤣
This is genius! Thanks
You're welcome!
Thank you for this tip! Handwriting on cakes is the one thing I'm terrible at, so this really helps!!!😊
You're so welcome!
My mother was a professional cake decorator and amazing at handwriting on cakes! Her top tip to me was that once you start a run of icing, try lifting the tip of your piping bag or nozzle higher up above your surface and sort of "lay" the stream of icing down, and only come back down to the surface at the end of a section to close off the stream. You get a smoother line that way. This is a really useful video, and gives a nice method to achieve different fonts!
Great tip!
My tip would be to get a piping bag and tip. you will have better control of the flow of the chocolate for prettier lettering🙂
Love this hack! Thank you for sharing!
LIFE SAVER!!! Thank you so much for sharing this tip!!!🧡
You are so welcome!
Great idea!! I’m definitely going to try this on my hubby’s birthday cake in a couple of weeks! 😍😍
Thank you! It is so easy!!
I would also suggest printing your message in mirror image. Also trace the words on separate pieces of wax paper so when you trace it with the chocolate and go to transfer it onto your cake you don’t have to handle the words. You just flip the chocolate side onto the cake and carefully peel back the wax paper. You might find you have better control of the placement as well. 🤷🏻♀️
I will definitely do this! I will have to update this video, that's a great idea!
Can I use non-stick aluminum foil?
@@sexonfeetndc I think the only reason I would not use foil is because you could run the risk of the foil breaking your pieces. I would recommend parchment or wax paper only. I wouldn’t use a ziplock bag either because it’s not sturdy enough.
@@sexonfeetndc I'm going to say no because the foil just bends and doesn't peel away even if its non stick. You're more likely going to break your chocolate in multiple places.
You wouldn’t be able to see the writing through the foil, either.
You are a genius! Thanks for sharing this hack!
OMG! This is beautiful will definitely try it 😍
Ok wow I’m so impressed!
Thank you Cindy!
Wow, that's awesome! I have to make a birthday cake in April so your tip will definitely come in handy. Thanks Nerissa ❤

@@NerissaNikole I tried it last week and it came out great! My new way of writing on cakes. Thank you ♥️

You are so welcome!
I just agreed to make a graduation cake. But I’m not a decorator. This is fantastic!
That's wonderful!
Thank you for this, can patchment Paper be used instead of wax paper?
Great job
Thank you ❤️
Sorry just a little bit of a heads up, I wouldn't dare to waste any of the chocolate by wiping it away with a tissue or whatever. All you need to do is get a spoon or anything and scrape it back into the bag. But overall, the rest of the video is a very good idea for a hack and it works just fine so thank you so much for this.
Thank you for that hacl because I really dont like write on a my cakes so was very helpful.
You are so welcome! I have since learned another easy way! Stay tuned!
I will be looking for your next video
New subscriber and just love your channel.
Thank you ❤️
@@NerissaNikole 🥰
Good
This is wonderful, thank you.
I have chicken scratch for printing and handwriting 😂
Putting a lil bit of coconut oil keeps the chocolate at a perfect density to work with.
Great tip! I have since learned that and can't believe how much of a difference it makes! Hopefully people read these comments and see this tip!
Thanks for sharing! Gonna be my first time writing and I'm looking forward to it!
Just wanted to ask, what do you call the orange tool that you used to smoothen out the whipped topping at the start of the video?
Yay! You're so welcome. The tool is called a frosting smoother tool or scraper tool.
I Love This Idea!! You Are A Genius,. Never Thought Of This ,.. Pretty Neat If You Ask Me,... Just Came To Your Podcast,. Went Ahead And Subscribe.... Thank You For Sharing,.. Will Definitely Give It A Try...😁☺️😊❤️💞🎂👏🙂💜❤️😁
Thank you so much@
Wow this is really a big help for me dear,my weakness haha! I used to buy a written happy birthday design just because of that i have a shaky hand. Thanks for sharing love it😊
Great idea! I am wondering if that would work with the gel used for script, perhaps if it was put in the freezer?
I avoid gel. It is sticky and finicky.
I agree with @nkganges2009. :)
I'd like ur recipe for the rainbow cake ease
I have a video on it! Search for nerissa nikole jello poke cake 🎂
Can you spray the wax paper with a little non stick cooking spray for easier release?
I don't see why not! I am always paranoid about things stinking, I'm surprised I didn't consider that, lol!
What type of food coloring did you use, gel, or the cheapy food colors that come in the little boxes?
I have started using only the gel food coloring. It seems like the other changes the consistency too much. Gel all the way!
So I know that the wax paper is used because it is nonstick but I noticed you were still having a little bit of trouble peeling off the lettering and I'd be afraid I would break them in the process. I'm wondering if it would work to spray the wax paper with just a little bit of oil so the paper will come away a little bit easier?
Can this preserved to be used in a week or two?
Thanks for the tutorial, can I replace chocolate with butter cream to write happy birthday?
Is it ok to use butter cream for the lettering?just asking,so that i can do it too😌
@@vidacherylabiva7216 you would need to write on the cake freehand. It won’t set up like chocolate. Hope that helps.
COOL G RAPP technique
When you said white chocolate chips did you mean chocolate chips shaped like pointed dots or dipping chocolate that is little round circles or can we use either?
Either will work perfectly. Both will cool and be solid again, and that's what we want.
Wondering if you have tried this with Royal icing? I’m just starting out doing cookies, and don’t want to but a projector.
I have never made royal icing! I have always been intimidated by it, lol!
What kind of food coloring did you use? Because gel food coloring makes the chocolate seize. I’ve tried several things but no luck so far. Thanks!
Well, I’d help you if I could. This channel won’t even let me tell you the name of the site that sells food color powder meant for chocolate, let alone share a link. There are sites out there. Just do a little research. Please know I tried to help. But paranoia and censorship reign right now. Rolling my eyes. Oh brother!
So now I have to give this site a thumbs down though I enjoyed the tip. I do that now for any site that blocks my comments, especially if they are simply helpful comments. 😡
WOuld you post a link to where you got the lettering?
This melted chocolate chip idea works great for outlining a cute design for a child's birthday cake...same thing .... Find a picture that you want (a castle, characters like the Paw Patrol pups , a puppy or kitten, a farm animal, a fish, a tractor, a ninja, a car, a hockey team's logo, a cute cottage, complete with doors & windows & pathway...whatever you like) and just trace over the lines on the picture. Chill the pattern on the FREEZER till it is really solid. Than instead of lifting it off, just flip the waxed paper onto the top of the cake, with the pattern next to the cake and peel the waxed paper off. The design will stay in place. Then pipe in buttercream with a small star tip to fill in the pattern...I have done Elsa from Frozen, Skye and Everest from Paw Patrol a race car, an excavator, hammers and saws, graduation caps and diplomas with this method...the pattern will just be reversed once it's placed onto the cake
How do y’all frost room temp cakes? Mine would have so many crumbs in the frosting.
I used to do two layers, a thin crumb layer, then a clean layer. Now I freeze! So much easier!!!
You could probably do this with royal icing too
I used the icing and added food coloring.
How did it work? Did it hold up well?
My first time at it after cooling it it broke apart. Live and learn
will this work with buttercream as well? i tried the chocolate version but added milk to it and i think that's why it's not hardening, just a FYI to anyone who tries this!! my bad lol
Buttercream won't harden enough to lift easily. If it is frozen solid, maybe, but I would use royal icing or chocolate to lift it up like this
What is the tool called to smooth cake
It's called a cake scraper or cake smoother.
I don't have a printer but can free handwrite it until I know I like it transfer it.
What that transparent tape you placed of the Alphabet called?
👍😁👍
I need your help because I wanted to learn but I don't know how I can do
Where did you find the lettering to copy?
I just Googled "Happy Birthday font", then at the top where you can select shopping, news, etc I selected images.
Hi my name is Ronald , I would like to learn how to write on cake, I wondered if you have face to face classes
Nc write paper ?
Happt "Burt-day"!? Lol I can't.
Wouldn't the letters melt?
It actually doesn't, the chocolate hardens back to its original state.
@@NerissaNikole Thanks for your reply. I will be trying this for my son's birthday next month.
Don't waste the chocolate... just scrape it off
You forgot to dot the “i” on Birthday!
Dang it 😕
invest in a pipping tip...they are about $5-
Cool, but too bad it doesn't work. Never gets hard enough to remove from the waxed paper; not even after an overnight in the freezer.
Did you use food coloring?
Your second happy birthday you forgot to dot your I.
