    Mine has been running strong since new in 1999. It gets used for mowing in the summer, plowing snow in the winter and gardening in the spring. They were true work horses

    Great video! I "restored" that exact GT last year to use as a mower and for around the house tasks. I'm working on a twin now to use in our small garden.

    I have the gear drive version of this tractor, purchased new in 2004. Cut my farm yard for many years. Mine just needs a little deck repair to be back in business. The Kohler engines are excellent although they did have many early head gasket failures. One head sits lower and that one would even let out oil. Easy fix, but surely all the originals have the upgraded gaskets now..
    One thing I might recommend is to replace the nylon bushing around the center spindle the front axle articulates on. You should be able to find a bronze replacement and a new large bolt.
    Also, Sears offered a "rear carrier deck" that hung off the hitch plate and you could put bricks in it to give weight in the rear... worked Great for better drive traction and to make the steering easier. I doubt you'll find one for sale, but any rear weight you fab up will help with mowing and pulling things ~

      These were a tough tractor! It's hard to buy something today of this quality. We also have the gear drive version. We are in Canada, and in 1999 this tractor retailed for almost $6000.00 . Thanks for watching! Watch out for part 3 to go live later today! :)

      Hi Richard. We seem of be able to get most common parts for this tractor still.

    You might have to sit on the seat to start it

    • @georgehofgren6123
      @georgehofgren6123 Před 4 měsíci +1

      You can jump the seat switch out with just a short piece of copper, at the switch connector below the seat 💁‍♂️

      This model tractor will start if you not in the seat, as long as the parking brake is set.

    Erica, all your voiceovers are perfect. Tyler’s running commentary, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Even with my volume turned all the way up I can only catch about half of what he’s saying, yet every time a mechanical is touched those sounds come through very loud. I suspect you’re aware of this but I had to mention it because for me this is usually the deal breaker which will cause me to not watch a channel moving forward. I suspect this has a lot to do with type of mic and placement and I’m sincerely hoping you’ve already addressed this in future videos you’ve already recorded. 🤞

    Please check your Volume and also usually their is a Safety switch under the seat if the operator falls off the engine will stop . I will Subscribe but please fine tune your efforts

    I have same mower but it's red and has the 6 speed hi/low transmission in it. Got it from a friend lasy year after a tree fell across the hood. All i had to do to ge it running again was rebuild the carburetor and new fuel lines. It had the deck with it but it was rusted out

      You SIR, DO NOT Have the Same "tractor".A Unit With the 6×2 TRANSMISSION is in a whole other "Ball-Park" ( & horizontal shaft Engine), that the found "Scraps-men" TINKER-TOY. Had TWO of these "Scraps-men" Brand-new JUNKERS ( vertical shaft engins& hydro-slack-o-howl-o-matic "trams-mission's"). The just "Bearly made" one cutting-season befor the were returned for a 40% LOSS of money. The "loss " was worth it when 2 More (200$&400$) WHEEL HORSE's showed up. For the LAST 10 YEARS they do EVERYTHING BETTER that the "craps-men" JUNKERS could NOT. The Wheels-tires & seat are worth saving the REST of the "Heap" needs to go to the "POT-METAL" Heaven.....on this guys "build-up". Where as you have a "Fine Machine ".

      I have a GT5000 which I think is what you're describing. I got one for free because, wait for it, it wouldn't start. 10 Amp fuse and a new starter later the thing has been a champ!! 53" cutting deck and came with a bunch of rear mount attachments including a 15 gallon tow behind sprayer. Only mods I've done is add an inline fuel shutoff so I can run the carb bowl dry so the ethanol doesn't screw up the needle and seat. Trouble free for 5+ years now.

      @@ericthorsell7515 I'm shur it is an "OK / grass cutter " on FLAT GROUND. With the deal that you got( & a little wrenching) it might be Perfect for "super-light-duty"towing& such. Where as my 1994 C160 H Wheel Horse 16 Hp unit could Do EVERYTHING BETTER than 26hp 2015, 3500.°°$ "Excellerater- Model Craps-man " ... With the exception Burning 3 TIMES the gasoline,& THEEE TIMES the NOISE. The Wheel Horse's are "quiet as mouses" & just bearly sip the fuel. Maybe this is Why , when l "parted-ways" with the 2 "scraps-men's" units l Acquired 5 more Wheelhorse "Precission-Powerfull-Super-Reliabale" machines. ( Nothing Beats a Wheelhorse for doing Wheelies,Pulling & Plowing in their Wheight classs).Best wishes with all your endeavours.
