Mazarati 100 MPH (Official Music Video)

- 80's band Mazarati were one of the groups brought to life by The Revolution's bass player, Brownmark. 100mph was written by Prince. The single did rather well on the R&B album charts. Sadly the album has not been in public circulation in probably over 20 years or so. Their record Mazarati 2, the bands second album, is also highly sought after.

They might even be the culprits! Damm what time is it?
Summer of 1986, just turned 23 bumbpin this all day in Los Angeles
Well I'm bumpin it at 24 lol. Got my hands on their music about 3 years ago I wanna say.
In 86 I was 24, in Los Angeles and was bumbpin it too! Lol
Had just turned 23, myself, in ‘86 & was “bumpin” this & watching the video on Video Soul, hosted by Donnie Simpson on BET, in H-Town. Man, I miss the 80s...😥...Btw, my LA brothers, also in 86, the Rockets upset Lakers (4-1) on Ralph Sampson’s buzzer beater in the Western Conference Finals...🏀
I was a teenager that year(13). I remember hearing this song while on vacation in Seattle.
livin' the dream
I can smell the Lycra and curl activator from here. And I’m all the way in nyc😳🤣. Too funky!
This song almost got me arrested... Clocked at 101mph back in the day...
Steven Jones Not everyone is so lucky. Lol
If you know anything about Prince this is his sound but the bass player Brown mark produced this group it's got Prince written all over it but this was his group
Prince wrote this
i have this lp. i always thought it sounded a lot like Jessie Johnson. Being a prince head, I love the story about the song kiss. Mazarati would have been a household name if prince wouldn't have took the song back lol Jamie Starr know it was a hit he couldn't part with .
Not if they had put it out with as weak a video as this one. Prince "Kiss" video MADE that song much more impressive.
The best thing about their version of KISS was the backings on it. Ive heard their version, it wasn't good. Prince took it back and reworked and kept their backings on it and defined and bodied that song.
Jamie stars a thief!😅
*Fun Fact* Mazarati were originally supposed to sing "Kiss" Prince wrote it, and then gave it to the band. Once he listened to the demo, he liked it so much he took it back and reworked it with his vocals. The band can still be heard as backing vocals in Prince's version.
+PaisleyParkFan That's not entirely true. I've heard the original demo of "Kiss", and it was actually written by Mark Brown (AKA Brownmark) who was Prince's bass player in the Revolution and the producer of Mazarati. He handed it to Prince to get his opinion of the track, and Prince decided to "keep" it for himself. :>)
+Rossvegas12345 Sorry, but while I respect your opinion I'm going to believe members of the actual Mazarati band more. facebook.com/1onegunn/posts/10209505639061428
+Rossvegas12345 you got told
JoJoeVoice, you are 100% correct. Onegunn aka Marr Star of Mazarati is the original lead vocal on the demo as well as one of the back up vocals and played keys on the final. Mazarati members OneGunn fka Marr Star, Tony Christian and David Z were the only collaborators with Prince in Kiss. They assisted with production and arrangements. #knowthefacts
@@Rossvegas12345 what the fuck are you smoking ?
When you look at princes music catalog and really look at the amount of funky shit he produced it’s really incredible!
Rest in power
Craig 'Screamer ' Powell 🎸
All of Prince's satellites were on point: Mazarati, Madhouse, Vanity 6, The Family, The Time, Sheila E...even his bad-breakups people had success (Jimmy & Terry producing Janet Jackson to the top, Jesse Johnson, Tamara & The Seen) that proved Minneapolis was unstoppable in the music world all because of Prince!
Even the TV show, "Star Search", crowned an 80's Minneapolis band the top winner...was their name, "Limited Warranty?"
Maserati wasn't one of Prince's groups. They were Brownmark's group. Prince gave they a few songs but that was the extent of his involvement. It wasn't like the Time or Vanity 6.
@@LR-zg8pk Since I got the story from what Brown Mark said, you might want to contact him and tell him to revise his story because until he does, THAT'S what I'm going to believe.
@@LR-zg8pk Fuck you!!!!!!!! Fuck you you fucking bastard!!!!!!!!
@@sirfriendzone1228 Agreed. It might be more accurate for me to say they are part of his Family Tree, as opposed to being a directly-orbiting satellite. :-)
@@AfroDeesiac Exactly!
It was very clearly that princ was the drive for all these other bands to break out between 1978 and 1987 Prince music was unstoppable they will be never another Prince again princess music will live forever influence other generations as well love you Prince
A forgotten gem from prince !!! Remember this vid from back in the days , still sounds funky !!
Ever since Mazarati's debut album got taken down from CZcams, this video is one of the only places where I could listen to their version of "100 MPH".
The Misunderstood Assassin Enjoy while you can. I’m honestly surprised I haven’t been hit yet.
I was lucky to get my hands on a rare remastered cd from japan, but it didn’t come cheap.
@@JoJos_Voice That is not very reassuring! 😅
@@JoJos_Voice Hi! Its a shame they keep taking off this groups songs. What was kool that they took off were their videos one of which was tha Stroke and I Guess Its All Over (live) off the original band. Been looking 4 it for minute but no luck! From the look of it it mustve been made @ a 5th Avenue Party. Im keeping up w/the new Mazarati 2c what kind of new band members n new music as i still think they need a Lead singer 2 go w/Brownmark n tha cast. ✌
@@JoJos_Voice .
I had Mazerati’s debut album when it was first released and it turned out to be my favorite purchase of 1986. Unfortunately however, they were the first band to sign under Prince’s new Paisley Park label. Which resulted in very little promotion other than 1 single and Prince’s “Under The Cherry Moon” film premiere party in Wyoming.
It’s too bad because the tracks are really solid from start to finish. “Strawberry Lover and Lonely Girl on Bourbon Street” are my personal favorites and as far as I’m concerned, both deserved a shot at being released as singles.
Here because of Prince
This song was so cold and I remember rockin this jam back in the day.
I had this cassette back in the day.
My top 3 personal Favorites from the album are Players Ball, Guess It's All Over, and Strawberry Lover. I was able to get my hands on an out of print remastered edition of the album from Japan. It sounds amazing.
Prince wrote this song for Mazarati. I love the long version.
Love this song
This is FUNKY AS 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩 1love
He sounded like Prince. I liked all the bands and Prince protégé singers of those times. Ruffles, lace, boots, heavy makeup, garter stockings!
So many great bands had that sound. Of course I love Prince, but him and his bands aside, I would say my 3 favorites would be The Time, Andre Cymone, and Mazarati. Alexander O'Neal comes in at 4th.
Yes! Good sound, good look.
And they were all men!!! The 80's....go figure!! 😂😂😂😂
It was Prince
Yep, Prince found out about it and took it over, they stupidly rejected Jerk out for its explict lyrics and the rest of their album was fluff. Prince's outtake version of this is even better!
Oh boy I loved this song when it came out.😊
RIP Craig “Screamer” Powell 💜💜💜
i love prince’s demo track on Originals great song
These millennials swear these dudes were hella feminine. These be the same ones listening to tekashi 69 or whoever and praising these dudes wearing skirts.
As the Late Great Charlie Murphy stated ….In the 80s the More u looked androgynous the More women U got . I was on my The Time Michael Jackson fashion as well . Yet these cats back in the Day was trying 2 get at ladies not men wanting 2 be ladies like now . What part of the game is this ?!!!
The first time I have seen the lp cover 😮😮😮😮 and herad this track 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
How in the world did he execute that FLAWLESS spin at the beginning....
"Like THIS". (executes the exact same move).
Questions?
This version needs to be remastered BADLY.

Purp came into the world in 1986!! Glad to know it was a Funky year! 🤘🏽🔥💜🙌🏽🙌🏽🎶🎶🎶🎶💯🤺🤺🤺🤺
Their whole look....'Prince's influenced! Lol!😁These guys were funky!!
could someone please slow down that spin that Sir Casey does in the beginning cuz that was COLD, how did He do that......
For those who want to listen to the album I published it on an odysee channel you will just have to search for mazarati and normally you will see the 8 tracks of the album appear in better quality but it remains a vinyl copy. And I will put the original uncompressed source in description later. Good listening
Thank you !! I had he cassette....
My favorite video
I followed them along with the time and prince I don’t know if they all were Minnesota but they had to all know each other I feel ❤

My favorite 80s
These guys was rocking the androgynous look back in the 80s most acts from heavy metal , rock , pop 2 R&B . Prince made that look his and about the only dude I know that could rock high heels and make up eyeliner and turn a dime 2 a dollar piece .
don't geddit twisted,

I like how the drummer breaks it down on the breaks 🥁
Lord I wish there was a clearer version of this. :(
Check out the new Prince version just released on CZcams
Prince created all of these bands that sounded exactly like him.
Brown Mark created that group.
Thank you!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
When I was a kid I thought... DID PRINCE HAVE A BROTHER THAT WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT? LOL, now I'm grown and have heard his PRINCE'S ORIGINALS, I WAS LIKE OMG! A MUSICAL GENIUS GAVE HIS JOINTS AWAY, BUT U HEARD HIM IN THIS SO IT'LL ALWAYS BE HIM! MASERATI DID THIS 1 THO'!!

Ok, I just followed you for posting one of my favorite list songs of all timez that some folks never even heard. Kudos.
Thanks!
Wish I could do more, but I don’t have nothing else. Just acting related vids.
Someone did post a rare live vid of them singing “she’s just that kind of lady” from back then. check it out
Sounds very New Jack Swing-like (harder-colder bassline, louder/thinner snare drum); Prince ahead of his time, always

There used to be one, but it got taken down. I’m surprised this is still up to be honest. All you can find is the song as an audio.

This was a time where men could were as much makeup as they wanted to an wouldn’t be questioned about their sexuality
Hhaaa jerry curl hey pretty white boy
This is all PRINCE....LOL....it is so campy
These guys back then who were rocking the androgynous look were out there, pulling many women unlike now where the guys dress like women, and want to pull many dudes SMH
Um...yikes lol
Prince should have kept this joint for hisself... and let Mazarati keep the overrated "Kiss"
Yeah, you're right. Who needs No.1 records that help define a career? :D
@@vivcanal2111 Prince had PLENTY hits and was already a Superstar years before KISS
@@RJNumber45 Doesn't change the fact that Kiss is a classic, and 100MPH is a decent tune.

I’m sorry but these dudes were trash. Prince fans will say Ready For The World copied P but these lames didn’t? At least RFTW had multiple hits while these Prince wanna be’s have no memorable songs to mention. Plus they looked mad frail. They remind me of Flash & The 4 Horsemen lol.
Um, dude.... Prince put these dudes out. This is HIS song they're singing. He saw something in these dudes apparently you don't.
George Butler he put out Carmen Electra too but she had musical talent right? Good day
@@xman333 what does Carmen Electra have to do with this? We talking about Mazarati. If you don't like the music, fine. But the fact remains Prince co-signed these guys, partly because the lead singer, Brownmark, was a member of the Revolution. And the song in this video is a Prince song. That was my point. They weren't wannabes, they were proteges.
@@GB3Says Brownmark is the producer, not the lead singer.
This sht is dope AF!!!
