    What a treat to see this collection of legends. I never get tired watching the great Soviet ballerinas of the sport, Boginskaya and Lillia Podkopayeva.

    A successful comeback for Boguinskaya... for the love of Belarus this time. My all-time favorite. Thank you for the memories ❤️❤️❤️

    People bat around the phrase, "like a ballerina" way too much, but Podkopayeva really was. Beautiful legs and feet, and gorgeous lines. And best of all, she didn't do those awful awkward fingers that so many gymnasts do, and no well trained dancer would. All due respect to all gymnasts, but Lillia truly was a gorgeous dancer.

    Very nice flight series from Boginskaya on beam-- so cool she adds that handstand before a difficult back handspring to two layouts!

      For a tall gymnast it helps get the momentome needed for that type of tumbling pass. Great observation!

    I love Bogi! Such an eloquent and graceful gymnast. I am glad she earned herself a silver medal at the 96 Europeans. Too bad she did not keep this form for Atlanta!

    Though I love the double front with barani, Podkopayeva's double front on floor was unbelievably controlled and precise

    The toe point of the Ukranian gymnasts are to die for, especially on the bars.

    I love how Lilia Podkepeyeva recycled that famous green leotard so much. I know of at least 4 competitions that she wore it in, including her gold medal winning all around performance in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

    Thanks for the upload. But, damn... 9.212 for Gina Gogean for a boring routine on bars with a fall and no dismount whatsoever at TF while Sheremeta earns 9.187 with a fall as well right off the bat but with a gorgeous complicated routine nonetheless at AA... I never got why the judges liked Gogean so much.

    Annika Reeder was beautiful on the beam. I wish Britian would bring that back into their beam routines these days. Now they are just plain weird.

    Monica Martin. Did so well on beam had all the difficulty, just that hop and Lil chest down on landing and a Lil adjustment on her sheep jump but who else in the competition did that skill??? No one. And then Dina does that yurchenko 1.5 almost falls and stepped so many times backwards and she gets a 9.625? R u kidding me. She was super deep in her landing squatted down and those huge steps back THAT SHOULDVE BEEN A 9.450 RANGE. BUT SHE GETS 9?6-9.7 RANGE CUZ SHE IS RATED HIGHER IN THE WORLD RANKING. SUCH BULLCRAP and MARTIN HAS THAT FEW SMSLL ERRORS she gets a 9.525 ON BEAM SMH. THIS GENERATION WAS SO GENEROUS JUST BECAUSE YOU HAD A NAME THAT IS HIGH RANKING IN THE WORLD THEY GET BONUS POINTS just FOR THEIR NAME!? FUCKING UNFAIR TOTALLY.. But someone like khorkina if she made that same beam deductions with deep chest landing she'd have gotten a 9.825. Not fair.

    How did Milosovici best Amanars score when Amanar had 4 perfect tumbles and Lavinia only 3 and a few stumbles in the last 2 passes. Makes no sense. Glad for the new code of points.

    • @admetric
      @admetric Před 5 lety +1

      Brian Patterson Amanar’s score should have been lower IMO. She should not have gotten credit for her double turn and she would have been at 9.90 SV. Her double layout was weak compared to Milo’s, too.

      @seer1623 Před 5 lety +7

      How did either Romanian outscore Kotchetkova? The whole team from this era was very blue collar, tumble, tumble, meaningless ‘dance’ with the music in the background, zilch for expression. What a snore. Bring back Dobre and Silivas.

    How did Bogie score a 9.825 on the uneven bars? Boring, the little French girl was more exciting. Bogie overscored on every event, what a rip off and they barely showed the Romanians, stupid coverage. The whole world is jealous of Romanians.

    I never liked Podkopayeva. Such an overrated gymnast and always overscored. That bar routine score with her head almost smashing her knees and the form breaks. Unreal!

    • @familyof1052
      @familyof1052 Před 3 lety +1

      Finally someone with some sense lol. Her bars always drove me nuts and never recieved the deductions that were most definitely there every single routine. Yes her toe point is great but that doesnt make up for the deductions she deserved. I was so bummed when she won the 96 olympics.

  • @brianpatterson1827
    @brianpatterson1827 Před 4 lety

    And khorkina would've had a 0.500 off for her bars dismount here with the chest super low plus .1-.2 for the hop

    • @mrparts
      @mrparts Před 3 lety

      That’s too severe. At that time a fall was 0.5.

    Nowadays Gina gogean never wouldve won all the medals she won in the new CoP if they were in effect from 93-96 or so. She was so dull. Her bars were typical Romanian and boring. Her tkatchev was so flat as usual. And with that disastrous NON dismount. Shed have had no dismount on bars here. And would've had st least 1 full point for the fall. Probably 2 points or so off with that dismount alone. Lol. AND IDK HOW SHE WON BEAM OR BARS FINALS EVER! SO SIMPLE COMPARED TO OTHER GYMNASTS. SHE WAS LIKE SUPER FAVORED FOR WHAT REASON IDK
