    If your employer buys a lazer welder ask for a retina mapping be done.
    Providing a base map can be important in proving eye injury.
    It protects the employer by exposing any existing damage.

      @@corymollak2093you tryna prove him wrong but instead proved his point lmao😂 Mig or tig can cause temporary blindness sure. But laser on the other hand, one accidental and your eyes is gone. • @corymollak2093
      @corymollak2093 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @cloudwalker679 I didn't say anything about temporary blindness. I said that one causes instant and permanent blindness.(laser)..... The other (mig and tig) causing blindness over time. Kind of like staring at the sunset Slowly burning a hole. The guy in the video is talking about permanent blindness from laser in which you can wear eyepro Preventing this

    • @samroesch
      @samroesch Před 7 měsíci

      @@corymollak2093 The point here is accidents happen, people accidentally catch an arc walking by on the shop floor, or the fitter doesn’t realize the welder is about to strike an arc. The consequences are fairly minor for a one off. Not the case with laser, one accident is permanent blindness.

    • @anoirbentanfous
      @anoirbentanfous Před 8 měsíci +3

      @@turkeyboyjh1 Actually, our brain has the capacity to adjust to such situations, much like when you attempt to shave while using a mirror - it may be challenging initially, but once your brain acclimates to the process, it will rarely pose a problem in the future. Naturally, extended periods of this might result in fatigue, yet periodic breaks like with VR/AR prove to be an efficient solution. Moreover, using a good quality stereo camera equipped with quality lenses and reliable software could reduce any discrepancies to the barest minimum.
      Regrettably, I lack such resources; hence I'm unable to experiment and devise a solution that **guarantees** safety and comfort.

    Safety is important, its much easier to hurt your eyes when messing with lasers. Every welder knows not to look at the arc but lasers are not as forgiving.

    • @particleconfig.8935

    • @RandomGuy0987

      @particleconfig.8935 If you shoot a laser pointer at the ground and see a dot, that light is the laser bouncing from the ground and hitting your eyes. So if the laser is powerful enough even a small reflection going into your eyes can damage.

    How about wearing safety goggles and making sure that the laser doesn't hit your eyes, would it be safe looking at the area being welded with those safety goggles on or it would still cause retina damage.

    I was welding aluminium once, but the laser was not focused so it struggled to weld. Just as it started making a welding pool the laser reflected in different directions and got my finger for a split second. It burnt like hell, but the burning feeling did not last as long as when you accidentally touched a area where you welded.
    The first time I tried welding I burnt a hole and the toolbox that came with the machine was about a meter away behind it and that also started burning.

    Try arc, tig or mig welding without goggles and see what happens to your eyes.
    Not a very strong or well thought through argument

    It's pretty concerning to observe handheld lasers on the market that essentially resemble industrial lasers without enclosures. In the worst-case scenario, even a single laser pulse can cause serious eye damage when used in pulsed mode. The responsibility for ensuring the safety of the Class 4 handheld laser and using it securely lies entirely with the customer. This involves not only eye safety but also the potential hazards of fire, explosions, and cancer caused by fine particulates.
    While efforts can be made to minimize risks with fume extraction and backscatter sensors, I haven't come across any of these handheld tools being secured into Class 1 lasers (is it even possible without enclosures?). In my country, this is a significant legal matter, requiring proof that they are used in accordance with laser safety and work safety regulations.

      The video was taken out of context. You don't have an hour long video talking about the different types of lasers. I would not look at this video and assume the other person's life or academic experience. Firstly, when practicing safety you take what is in this video as standard. The stuff you're talking about I know is newer, especially anything to do with fiber optics. Are you aware that in corporate America that they are sometimes afraid of using innovative technology because it will (in their mind) hurt their bottom line? I am not interested in arguing or putting you, I just would like you to give this guy some empathy. He could be working for a greedy, shitty company that uses old tech.
