I always map out a plan for my watercolour paintings before I begin. I think about where my focal point will be and that is where I put most of the detail. I think about how I'm going to paint in different sections of the painting and what colours I will use. I'll often do a study or two before hand on cheaper paper to make sure the painting will work out before I commit to my expensive watercolour paper. In this video I discuss the things I thought about before I started painting and I demonstrate a few different areas of the Chicken painting.

Would like this thanks
Oh I am inspired to paint my three hens. Sophia, rose and Blanche. Dorathy got taken by the fox.
I could have given you a reference photo for this painting! These are the kind of chickens WE have. Nice brown eggs from these Golden Comets. Canât WAIT to paint this one! Wonderful lesson, as always.
Lovely, can't wait to try it, and looking forward to see r the rooster! Thanks soooo much!
Iâll take some reference photos. Can you messenger them to me đ
@@karenwilson6483 Iâd be glad to send you some reference photos. What specifically would you like, a single hen, two together? We donât have roosters (not allowed in our city limits, too noisy), but we do have 8 adorable egg-laying hens đ„°
@@vickiestewart7394 Iâll take whichever you think are adorable. đ Hens are lovely đ„°
I enjoy your paintings immensely.
You're an excellent teacher.
Thank you.
What a fabulous lady and a great teacher
Stunning - one of my favourite subjects to see painted: chickens and roosters. I couldn't believe how the light yellow added at end added such a beautiful glow - made such a difference. You are so talented Louise.
Always love watching you paint. Your bloopers bring me smiles, though I do think you might be too hard on yourself on occasion. đ
Why are there only 96K subscribers??? You are one of the best out there!!! Need to keep spreading the word⊠love these recent videos. Super helpful instructions for beginners and super helpful ideas for those of us who get lost in the details.
Beautiful painting. The end had me laughing so hard. So relatable!
Love you painting and chickens!!!
She's beautiful. Thank yo Louise.!
This looked amazing, Iâve only just discovered you but I feel I may continue to watch your videos regularly in the future.
LOOOOVE your out takes!
Love chooks thank Louise and happy Easter if Im not here again before next week..1đđđđđđđ
Oh! this is sooo beautiful Louise! I don't think I'm going to find it too easy - with doing less is more! but shall definitely give it a try when the full tutorial come out as I love it - the face is magnificent! Thank you ;-)
Oh Heck Yeah! She's awesome, so sweet and gentle lady - excited to find your channel. Thank you! Also going to skillshare!
Thank you very much!
Don't forget to like the video, people! so many comments, but little likes. It helps, you know đ. we all see all the struggle and time consumed with tutorials, patreons, Skilshare and editing videos, not to mention the painting itself... I'm a 2 month Patreon subs now, but Louise deserves all the help we may provide, as she helps and share us with so much đ. stay safe you all, Covid is not something to play already!
Louise, I love this journey you are embarking on to create fresher and less complicated washes. I tend to be overly detailed, so your work and evolutions speak to me! I am a newcomer to watercolor, even though art, in many forms, has been my life's foundation. I've taken a slight hiatus to do some extensive home renovation, but I watch your videos while having my morning coffee. I have learned SO MUCH from you. I look forward to becoming your patron soon!
What a great tutorial. I love the blurry of the eyes to help shape the image with darker colour. A very handy tip. Also love the water drops for texture. So glad you became a teacher as it shows in your teaching of art. Love these tutorials. I wake at 5.30am to watch them in peace. morning to
Hi Louise, a âre-subscriberâ hereâŠ.I realized that last time I was too inexperienced to appreciate all your knowledge and it felt overwhelming. Now Iâm so excited to be back and taking in all of your wisdom. Your new studio is fabulous, lucky you!
Hahaha love your bloopers at the end! Your painting style is lovely and informative, thanks!
Your chicken is perfect and cutest đ
Without a doubt, Louise is an amazing artist and instructor. I always pick something up when I visit her channel.
lol...I liked the technics used but what made me laugh are those shy mistakes. This shows how much you really prepared your videos most of us are afraid to start only because of those mistakes. I am glad that you managed to overcome them and thanks for the lovely lesson.
Hi Louise! I loved seeing how you simplified the feathers on the chicken -she turned out beautifully! Take care đđ
I donât paint but I still enjoy your videos. It must be incredibly satisfying to create such beauty through your own natural talent and years of study.
Thank you! It is wonderful to learn from you!
Oh Louise! You are amazing! The way you break down a photograph, and transform it into a stunning watercolor. I am in awe of your gift. I found you when Covid came to Maryland, in the US. I have been following you since. Thank you for sharing, not only your incredible talents, but your own journey in watercolor, as well. Always take time for yourself. It's what helps us be there for others.
Love watching the end!! đđ„°

Louise, I've always loved your teaching but your bloopers were hilarious!! You always seem down to earth but very practical and forthright in all your explanations, which are such great qualities for a teacher, (Succinctly both approachable and understandable) but watching your outtakes, I see a whole new side of you and I loved every minute of it. You are divinely human!!!! :)

Always so professional, i Love your drawing and painting đ„°
May i ask how did you get soooo fantastic at drawing? Do you do other artwork with other mediums? As Acrylic? Oil? â€
Absolutely love your work and tutorials. I've had a request from my in-laws in Scotland to paint a kookaburra but, unfortunately, I've mislaid the code to your "vault" of paintings. Would appreciate if you could let me know when you have a minute, the access wording. Many thanks in advance.
I love all your paintings, I will have to see the price for your patrons

Hi Louise. I love all your paintings but especially the birds. Did you post this orange chicken on Patreon? I'm having trouble finding it. Thanks.
Thanks Maggie. Yes I did. You'll find it on the index here on my website: www.louisedemasi.com/patreon. Click on the chicken and it will take you to Patreon.
@@LouiseDeMasi I found it. I'm new to Patreon so I had a little trouble. You are one of the best teachers I have learned from as well as a talented artist. Thank you for your dedication.
where can I find ceramic or porcelain 8 wells and 8 slant rectangular watercolor palette ? I got 5 well, 5 slant ceramic palette, in the back it is printed London, England 1399/15 and 1728/5. Thank you ever so much.
Thats a good lookin chook.
Did you stretch the paper before painting?
en qué momento pintó la cara?
Is the paper pre stretched,.?
Wow, looks good enough to eat đ
Nope, todoist didn't work for me. I prefer paper and I'm putting my phone away more and more since I realized it's giving neck pain. Instead there was a class by Rafi Perez that changed my perspective. The idea is to only schedule 4 thing every day.
đđđŁđ
Louise, your work is always so beautiful and this is no exception. I'm not exactly a chicken fan but how can you resist this elegant, glowing creature? I hope you get a handle on managing your busy schedule. In any case, just know that your great talent and calm demeanor is an inspiration to many, and I really value your work.
Louise I loved the out takes! Very good⊠nice to know that someone who looks so organised and professional can also slip up! Thank you and loved the chicken!
