    What a great vid! Just finished racking the 25 gallons of cider I pressed this year into secondary. Been totally obsessed this fall with all things cider. Most people have a neighbour who has an apple tree that they leave neglected. Knock on a door, meet someone new and make cider for free!

    Very cool, I have been diving into apple cider this year myself. I wish I could get my hands on some fresh pressed juice.

    GREAT VIDEO! My LHBS buys a huge amout of cider every year, I will have to try making cider from fresh juice instead of the bottled clear stuff you get at the supermarket

      @@ChopAndBrew what do they do with the spent apples? Hope they find a farmer with animals or some one who can use them.

      That's exactly how it went down. It was like three giant tarps full of pomace.

    I’m picking up anger issues on wholesome apples? They truly need group therapy.

    Nicely done. Like to back sweeten myself. Nice trick when you also want some carbonation! A batch I made last year with Kveik yeast was excellent; finished at 1.008, well worth a try. Cheers.

      I have some kviek from a fan in Norway. Maybe I'll try that this fall. Did you ferment warm/hot?

    • @cidermeister9440
      @cidermeister9440 Před 5 lety +1

      Cold. Just in a demijon in the(unheated) brew shed. Bottled Feb-18 and was pretty good come Jul-18. I'll try my best to save a bottle or two until next year. Cheers.

      Picked up a early and late season press 6 gallons each. Added 1.5# corn sugar, camden, pectic enzyme, and yeast nutrient. Pitched WLP775 in both after 24 hours. Rack to secondary. I will bottle and store for a year (if I can wait). Love your work on Splendid Table. KLOB (Kalamazoo Libation Organization of Brewers) great club! Peace

      Nice! What FG did you get to? Hint: don't wait a year as a hard rule; if it's ready to drink, it's ready to drink. Thanks for The Splendid Table shout-out!

    Does champagne yeast work for making a decent dry cider

    • @ChopAndBrew
      @ChopAndBrew  Před 5 lety

      I have never tried it, but considering my success with white wine yeast I'd assume it could work.
