    This part of the FAT is really cool. There are a lot of trails in that area that don't show on maps. You could spend a lot of time exploring.

    One more SUPER important tip about Eglin. You have to check the daily access map on the Jackson Guard website. Weekends are usually OK, but during the week there are regular closures that can and will effect the F.A.T. The "camo dudes" of Eglin will not let you use ignorance of the closures for an excuse (speaking from personal experience)!!! Great video, glad yall got through without any trouble.

      Thanks for sharing. That is a very important part that we didn't learn about until after this trip.

      @dirtybunchjeepclub1986 our group that ran Eglin two weeks ago ended up in a restricted area, got stopped by the MP and Federal police. 10 rigs, we were given a very stern warning. Check out the @baptismoverland video about it.

      A coworker and a bunch of his drunk friends went offroading on Ft Dix .
      Got caught by the MPs, taken in and grilled. When they decided the boys were not up to anything they decided to let them go.
      They also found my coworker was the least drunk of the bunch which we found unbelievable! They asked to see his driver license. As he pulled it out they saw his military ID. They asked: Why didn't you show us that in the beginning?

      @@raymondclark1785 that is hysterical. Glad we didn't get hauled in but we could have. We weren't drinking and they probably run into issues with this often so hopefully they don't get too upset about these things ... but who knows?

      @@dirtybunchjeepclub1986 MP's don't always have a sense of humor, we had a Sergeant Guess get pulled over on Ft Bragg, What's your name Sergeant? Guess Bam!

    Video is really good, nicely done. Instead of the music maybe do some narration as to where you are. Not a criticism just a suggestion. Looking forward to doing the FAT myself.

      Thanks! We are not professionals ... we're just Jeepers who are trying to share what we see out there. I agree with you ... the more we can let you guys know where we are, the better. Sometimes when we bring all of this together, that just gets lost in the shuffle. We'll try to be more mindful of that going forward.

    Great videos, what app are you using for routing on the trail? I tried using Gaia back in November on the FAT, but didn't find it very user friendly.

    • @dw32843
      @dw32843 Před rokem +1

      I jokingly say that GAIA is like Excel ... it is not intuitive but once you get the basics down it can be very helpful.

    • @dirtybunchjeepclub1986
      @dirtybunchjeepclub1986  Před rokem +1

      We are using Gaia. I agree, it is not user friendly. We've spent the last year trying to get used to it and what has helped the most is the videos that Gaia recently put out. Once you manage to get the GPX files onto your map, things work well.
