It's been two weeks since I took delivery. So far, I have nothing to complain and my impression of this car is awesome. More to come after engine break-in period is over.

"This car is the middle finger to all the big SUV's and heavy sedans out there, signalling that I'm having more fun than they do". That line alone got my sub and like lol. Good stuff!
Had my 22 BRZ almost 2 years and almost 18k miles. I drift it out of driveways and U-turns, especially when raining it's almost dangerous on base tires. Installed a black tail on sapphire, sti-style spats and lip, Invidia N2 exhaust, wrapped my steering wheel after I had trouble with a CF LED one that's just sitting in my bedroom. Installed the accessory front lights, mood lights, light-up door sills, Likewise knob, start-stop and e-brake buttons, carplay adapter, door scuff protectors. Waiting on a honeycomb grill to replace mines. Suspension and wheels will come later down the line when I'm paid off at the end of the year. The car is outstanding and always a blast to drive. I want to keep pumping money into it, but I need to focus on budgeting for now. Had a 4k markup and I still need 18k for the buyout. During the pandemic my credit balance was high and didn't want a credit check when rates were going up.
As a fellow 86 CZcams and owner I agree with all your thoughts on this platform. I hope you enjoy your car as much as i have so far.
Came across your video on my recommended tab - I really appreciate your commentary, insight, and story behind the car. Thanks for sharing!Cheers from fellow [recent] GR86 owner in PA! 🎉
I see youre a Honda Fit owner as well ! I love your content and how you’re not obsessed with high horsepower / trendy things like so many other content creators. Subscribed !
Hello Hong Chan...just bought a 2023 GR86 two weeks ago and I am subscribing to follow your journey of ownership. I am new to a manual transmission and I feel like I can learn alot from you. Thanks for the content
Love the conversation about power/weight etc.. You get it. We gotta enjoy these cars while we still can. I’m going to try to get a GR86 in 2024, but may just take the easy route and get a BRZ. Great video my friend.
If you ever want to track down a GR86, my other video has a tracker link and it shows how to read it. Best of luck!
its the exact same car at the end of the day lmfao
I like the Silver as well .
@@AlphaShh Meh, to most people they see it that way. But for those that truly care. They're two differnt cars in small ways. Personally, I *love* the BRZ. The smiley face you see on the grill/front bumper make me light up everytime I see it. While the GR86 is the more....sophiticated, cleaner look. Then you have the various interior trim option that different from one another. Yeah, they're essentially the same car but still unique in thier respected ways. Like twins! Similar on the outside, different on the inside 😎
@hongchan1202 I couldn't find the link. Can you post it here please?
Great video. Just got my 2024 GR86 3 days ago...so far its fun
Awesome video. I am picking up my gr86 this Friday.
Awesome man! Please do a video of your delivery experience, if you can. And CONGRATS!
The car loves corners. I find I am often accelerating through the corners in my BRZ instead of slowing down.
Love your thoughts ...
to drive and enjoy … get my BRZ in March 2024!
The gr86 seats are the best seats I've ever sat in. Definitely makes driving to work a lot less agonizing.
What a great post! Enjoy!
Great review. 👍 Have a 2023 base manual, same colour. Love it. You notice how jealous people in SUVs are? I’ve never had so many speed to over-take me. Like you said - we are smiling! 😊
Well said!! Love my Gr86!
Hello Mr. CHAN
I am John Chan the the fisherman. Almost 54 yr old, I owned 911 4s, evoX, mustang RTR.....
This is a good car.
MY WIFE and i own gr86 for little over than a year. We love this car. She's a keeper. Thanks
Haha I also upgraded from an RSX Type S to a GR86 Premium this year. I did everything I wanted in terms of mods and upgrades for the RSX and it's always had my back. After 10 years of ownership, I just felt that it was time to move on to a new project. I'd love to keep both cars but it just didn't make sense to have two 2+2 manual coupes.
Agreed. RSX Type S was a fun little car. It held its own back in the day and still good enough today.
Beautiful car !
I’m currently trying to debate between a 24 GR Corolla I already have a deposit on or the 24 BRZ tS. This video helps a lot
Getting a 2024 in March or April (depending on how long it takes to get here from Japan). Literally cannot wait, great Vid!
Awesome. Track inventory is in my other video if you have friends in need of locating one.
I went from a new v6 Camaro i`ve bought in 2022 to a new BRZ because i`ve missed that light weight experience even though Camaro on a V6 was very close to that formula, but still coming from clio 3/4 RS it felt heavy and less fun in steering feeling!
Toyota in Massachusetts wanted to go above sticker! So I went with the 2024 BRZ Limited. I ordered it in February and was told it’s scheduled to come into Massachusetts in June.
I ordered from Toyota of Watertown and they don't mark up!
I got my 23' BRZ in December 2023. Almost 2 months of ownership. I came from a 16' FRS, brand new as well almost 8 years of owning it, and still have the FRS in the garage. The 2nd gen is a step up on everything the 1st gen was lacking. Its a more mature feeling car, whereas the 1st gen feels more raw and racecar like. Just sucking having to drive in the winter, cant truly enjoy the vehicle yet. But so far i am loving it.
Nice video!! As an fk8 owner how do you like the two different driving experiences? I’m about to sell my 19 fk8 and I’m looking to either get into this or an fl5.. the fl5 seems kinda redundant since it’s pretty much the same car
They are both good. I like the rear wheel drive and I turn off all nannies. Each has their way so get this than FL5, saves you money.
I think you should take the opportunity to drive RWD to be a more well rounded driver.
I ended up buying a 2023 MX-5 RF grey . It is on the small side . And the seats are not for much on long distance. I would consider looking for a seat replacement or try to add padding? If that is realistic. Heated seats Yes . But anything under 70 in 6th gear . Gets upwards of 43 mpg . I am 61 yrs old . So I did not look at the Toyota. I have had many Toyotas in my life . They are still at the top . I feel comfortable with the build quality on the MX-5 RF manual .
might get one just to track it. I have an Audi S3 now, which is like an awd DCT type S.
Many people don't even consider weight when choosing a vehicle. When setting up my Mini I didn't want any options that added weight. I said no to a glass roof! No electric seats. The rpf1 wheels added a noticeable difference driving! The GR86 is high on my list of next cars to own! And manual shift way too go!
I had an 05 RSX type S for 14 years and 140,000 mi. Great car but definitely outgrew it. Considering ITS and CTR now.
DE5 too $$$...Get the FL5 instead.
Any issues shifting when it's cold out? I'm in the Northeast with 3000 miles on my 2023 and it refuses to shift into 2nd or 3rd without double clutching until the transmission warms up. I was hoping that would get better with more miles on it but seems to be about the same as when I first took delivery.
I am fine. I think you might need to contact service.
Dude been driving manual s for 30 years .. & recently bought the 86 .. its butter smooth ( clutch & shift ) .. try a heavy weight shift knob ... & smoothes out notches in the gear shifter . But your car needs to be looked at ... not normal even in the cold ..
I came from an ND2 Miata and plenty of manual cars before that and this was an absolute mess of double clutching for2nd and 3rd gear most all of the time. My 1974 VW Beetle shifts better !! I ended up trading it for a new MT Supra rather than dealing with constant trips to the dealer for a "no problems found" answer.@@davidfacciponti8304
If you only need to have one car for life, would you get the GR86 or FK8?
24 BRZ tS here that I've had since March.
2:56 Ha ha yeah that clutch pedal really wants you off of it in the last inch. Spring will fix that.
The GR/BR is faster than a 271hp WRX because it's a whole 600 pounds lighter.
What tires did you put in your 86?
You may want to push up your inside mirror to improve viability for both videos and driving.
Conti ExtrememContact DWS 06 Plus, for winter.
@@hongchan1202I put 17 inch Vredestein Hypertrac high performance all season tires on my BRZ and found no loss in performance. I don’t plan to track, I suspect on the track the stock tires would have an advantage.
Hello. Have you dealt with the RTV issue yet ?
Not yet but first oil change soon. We'll see what comes out.
Where can I buy that key case?

Appears you live in an area with four seasons… is this your only driver? Or is this a weekend car?
I have a FIT as a daily. This is secondary, kinda.
Why not the manual Supra?
I don't have 50K + sitting around
Yea. Money honey
Dang.. gotta sell my motorcycle n get this car
The clutch release for me was all the way to the top, theirs no mid point.
wait what? only gas we can get in switzerland is 95 and 98 octane.
Are you sure they are listed as Octane? Or RON?
87 Octane = 91 RON
91 Octane = 93 RON
93 Octane = 98 RON
100 Octane = 104 RON
104 Octane = 108 RON
@@hongchan1202 oh you might be right. Then its probably 93 octane aswell
Get the steering wheel fover that you sew om i have one on my car if you nuy a decent brnad ita hreat mu current one is mewant
Why would that car need 93 octane???
Owner's manual.
U live like 5 mins from me !!!
Small world
Thank you. Yes indeed.
What people dont talk about is the previous sports cars they have owned to even remotely give an audience some level of bearing of the authenticity of their review. Everyone could be joe smoe that drove stock honda civics for 2 decades makes a video like this essentially reading the brochure and giving subjective interpretations on topics that are moot. (not saying you did this exactly)
WTF dealers??! Putting 87 in this car? So dissapointing.
Yep. Same. First tank the dealer put in the car ran like crap. As soon as I ran it low and filled it with 93, it was (and has been) awesome. Toyota would not admit it, but I know they filled it with regular.
No vehicle should come from the factory today with any non-LED lights (inside or outside). That's just sad, but Subaru is still on that outdated/cost-cutting bandwagon.
We call those "no season tires" in Canada
