The kid next door got a Civil War set for Christmas 1961. I thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw. I finally got mine for Christmas 1962, I got the giant battle of the Blue and Gray. My set did not come with a falling horse and rider. Despite what many Marx collectors think, the falling horse and rider was introduced in 1961. My friend next door got one in his set for Christmas 1961. It was dark charcoal gray as were all of his Rebs.

Very nice Fort! I wish there were more toys being made today than in those days. Somehow everything was a bit more creative and adventurous.

The tin litho building actually came in four styles over the years- three were very similar, with one having 'US Cavalry Supply', another having "US Cavalry Stables" and a third having "US Cavalry HQ". Another style had no plastic porch-porch being painted on the front, windows were also different and it had a roof portice piece which said "US Cavalry HQ".

It's funny that way before I watched your channel I started and still do call my female orange 🍊 Tabby cat Iggy. I enjoy your channel and will keep watching because most of the stuff you show makes me Drool. I'm not jealous but a little envy might be involved. PEACE ☮️ CAMERON.

Nice work, Iggy. I had the 1962 headquarters...circa mid-1970s set.

The Blockhouse over the gate was used in 1958 Rin Tin Tin Fort Apache set. 1959 gate was a one of a kind for just that one year. Fort Dearborn did not use the Blockhouse, but it did use the last building I showed you. The block house was not used in Heritage sets. It was used in the final years of the Marx Fort Apache.

I got a fort like this from my aunt in the early 1960s. I told my roommate toys have been replaced by video games. She said, all you baby boomers played with sticks and stones outside. I admitted she was right. We had mean neighborhood rock fights and sword fights with sticks.

Have to correct you on the HQ. The original was about '58, no cupola, no doors, no chimney, no porch. Before that, around '55, there was just a log cabin, also metal.
