  • Hastkari - Exhibition cum Sale Organized at Khalsa College Patiala.
    The Post Graduate department of Fashion Designing and Home Science, Khalsa College Patiala organized an annual exhibition cum sale at the college today. This exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal of the college Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha. Dr. Swaranjit Kaur, Lecturer Government Senior Secondary Smart School Sirhind Mandi, was the guest of honour. On this occasion Dr. Swaranjit Kaur praised the various art pieces on display. She also said that if this enterprise of students and teachers is adapted and presented according to the needs of the market, it will be a good opportunity for employment. The highlight of the exhibition were the hand embroidered suits representing the handicrafts of different states of India, using different styles like Phulkari, Chikankari, Kantha and Kutch embroidery. Other items displayed in the exhibition were table linen and bed linen produced by various printing techniques like tie and dye, screen, stencil and block printing etc. Fengshui art items such as decorative cups, wall hangings, coasters, keyrings, bookmarks etc. were the center of attraction of the visitors. Keeping in view the youth's attraction towards fancy jewellery, various handmade jewelery items such as earrings, necklaces, bangles, tassels etc. were also exhibited. Hair accessories, envelopes, thematic embroidery hoops, embroidered potalis were also the center of attraction.
    College Principal Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha said on this occasion that the main objective of organizing such exhibitions is to develop self-employment skills among the students so that they can generate their means of earning by acquiring proficiency in handicrafts. The Head of the department, Dr. Balbir Kaur, honored Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha for motivating and supporting the department for such events. Deputy Principal of the college Dr. Jasleen Kaur congratulated the department for exploring creativity among students and transforming it into handicrafts. The entire teaching and non-teaching staff of the college visited the exhibition and highly appreciated the work done by the students.
