    Maybe it’s less visited because of its human rights issues.
    The law does not criminalize rape against men or spousal rape, and sexual intercourse by a man with his wife is not considered rape as long as she is not younger than 14.
    The law in this country does not require accessibility or prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities in most public services, including access to buildings, transportation, and communications.
    Foreign workers, mainly from Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, and China, are vulnerable to exploitation by human traffickers in Brunei. Traffickers use various methods such as debt-based coercion, non-payment of wages, passport confiscation, and physical abuse to exploit migrant workers. Some female migrants arriving on tourist visas may also be forced into sex trafficking, while trafficking victims in Malaysia or Indonesia may transit through Brunei. Anti-LGBTQI+ laws also increase the risk of extortion and psychological coercion for LGBTQI+ individuals, who are already at higher risk of trafficking.
    Sexual activity between men is de jure liable to capital punishment, with de facto lesser penalties of imprisonment and whipping applied; sex between women is punishable by caning or imprisonment. The sultanate applied a moratorium on the death penalty in 2019, which was still in effect as of May 2023.[5] The moratorium could be revoked at any time.

    • @JustinWatson23
      @JustinWatson23 Před 3 měsíci +8

      Some of the laws are just awful and some of them were passed fairly recently. Uganda is another country changing laws to be worse. I'm not going to support a country that are making laws worse. I get many have laws that are slow to change though and while its not ideal its still not taking steps backward like Brunei have done. However its up to each person to make their own dec ision on whether they want to go somewhere. This is also certainly not just the one religion (islam) that has some horrific laws, some of the worst in Africa are christian countries.

    Reason for people not want to visit Brunei is the same as people who not want to visit Saudi Arabia. Too Islamic and too Syariah, banning almost everything that is going against Islam, that why Brunei Tourism industry is as developing as Saudi Arabia tourism industry. Even Brunei citizen itself are visiting Sarawak at a weekly basis due to them cannot withstand the strict law in Brunei 24/7.

      Do u know 1 dollar Brunei is equal to 3.50 Malaysian ringgit? Its like more than 3 times. So by the exchange rate Brunei go shopping at Sarawak. Why don't u say if Singaporeans go to Johor (Southern Malaysia) is bcoz they wanna runaway from Singapore law? They go to Malaysia due to exchange rate. Even petrol in Malaysia is cheaper than in Singapore. Thats why they normally filled their car full tank petrol before going back to Singapore. Next time if u dunno u ask. Don't make assumptions.

    Religious rules that make tourists afraid to go to Brunei. They have to be open minded because tourists want to have fun, not be pressured
