Repeat After Me
by Johnny Kongos
Lyric video: Daniel Kongos
Factors of nine, reduced over time
Chasing them primes, and counting rhymes
Facing the east, bread without yeast
Blind faith in the priests, and fear of some beast
Breaking of bread, eating the dead
Bowing my head, Gold out of Lead
Wearing the veil, seeking the grail
Wall where you wail, and musical scales
Candles are burned, incantations are learned
Ashes in urns, and prophets return
Adam and Eve, three days to grieve
Stoned if you don't believe, only fuck to conceive
But it’s so hard to sign my own surrender
So hard to do what I’ve intended
So hard to leave what I've defended
So hard to separate what's blended
If I could breathe, I’d be free
And I'd get high, I’d turn water to wine
If I could be, I’d breathe free at last
And I'd get high, I’d get so high
I'd get so high, if I could breathe
Five sided stars, buried or burned to a char
Fashion as law, and nailing trinkets to doors
One hundred and eight, commanded to procreate
Fasting for forty days, and death if you desecrate
Two Thousand and Twelve, ringing bells
Nine circles of hell, division by three
And seven, you see
Repeat, repeat after me, repetition is key
Repeat after me, repetition is key - Hudba
This song is... godly
badum tsss :p
more like anti-godly
Amen
Even so, only a minority really understands how brilliant this song is. Cheers to those who do! Stay positive and curious 🙏
Absolutely correct 😊
Thanks Spotify's Discovery weekly playlist for finding this gem !
Yeah same here
Yep
same here :D
me- after 3 years.. SAME
same, looking for similar songs
55 yrs old and this is the best song I have ever heard.
Personally, I prefer “Take Me Somewhere Nice” by Mogwai, “Encore” by RHCP, and “Idioteque” by Radiohead
I haven't had a song on replay for a long time. This song is deeper than abyss. This song had me repeating the lyrics over and over. I relate a lot to the part of 'so hard to sign my own surrender...'. This is a modern masterpiece.
Feeling you
wow such dark and deep lyrics
This is probably the best song I have ever heard in a loooooooooooooooooooong time. Can't get enough! This comes from someone who loves classical music.
THat beat in the beginning doe ..... holyyyyyy smoke
Engineering prof put this on in interim of lecture and everyone was connecting with it (possibly out of stress/sleep deprivation)
Had to look it up and listen again...
Still strong
Powerful lyrics, intense rythm and creepy voice. Love it!
this cant only be a song this is something else something bigger then that
trip acid and listen to this song and watch the video. theres your "something bigger"
@@kaytiereinhart1476 sorry I didnt get what u mean what do u mean by that exactly by saying: trip acid and listen to this song and watch the video
sory for not understanding ım just not a native speaker hope u dont mind :)
@@serdarylmaz2649 he says Just get high and listen to this song and that is your "bigger thing"
@@generatorrex484 Oh I see thats why I dont get it I dont rly know much about that stuff thx man
kongos, i don't know how you do this, but you play on strings of my soul. i listening this song 28 hours non stop and i don't know why. This song touch something inside me. Thank you from Siberia!
this song talks about your soul... maybe that's why
DRAGON because they have AWOKEN.....🌛✨🌜
I rarely comment on videos but this one I had too say something. There's something so captivating about this song. I've had it on repeat for the past hour. I can feel this song in my body. Goosebumps!! 🙏
I discovered Kongos 2 days ago. Already listened all of their song and loved them all.. never happened.
Really love this song (probably one of the best in my opinion, every word is perfect where it is and the sound? So fu**ing great) but 100k views on the official audio of this song is just stupid, they deserve millions and millions more.
Can't wait to see a tour in Europe, my life would be easier if they would come in Italy just one day, but i can probably go to the other part of the continent for them. Once again great song ^^
Same man best band and they so deserve more, way way more veiws
I fell in love with Kongos' music immediately as I first heard them and my daughters too and it is exactly the same - waiting for them to come to Europe or gathering enough money to fly to the States :) I wrote to them to come to Europe - let's do it, we should be thousands and thousands to ask them to come
+
Same here, I searched for underrated artists and they suggested KONGOS. I was making a puzzle when I first listened to them and I must say I have never had such a wonderful experience I literally added every song to my playlist 5 seconds after it had begun. That same night I listened to their albums.
Listening some random playlist, this comes up - "Oooh, what's this?" -1st listen
Repeat - gotta catch those lyrics - 2nd listen
Tears in eyes, lump in throat - 3rd listen
Damn, this is really a powerful song!
Same!
Still my ringtone after after 6 years ❤️ even my dog recognizes this song
It is as if blood is boiling from within you, the music has touched the depths of my soul. Thank you guys
this is my favourite one from the new album by far
I agree, I really like the others but this one tops it.
Johnny. Freaking Johnny. There are no words left to describe how much we all appreciate you. You've written all of the coolest ones.
Awesome f%%king track
Spotify recommended me this song and I can't stop listening to it! Just perfect for me: the sound, the voices, the lyrics! I love it! Keep up the good work, guys!
Keep your faith but question religion, everyone!
Huge love from Brazil!
Reminds me of that Oscar Wilde quote “The terror of society, which is the basis of morals, the terror of God, which is the secret of religion-these are the two things that govern us.”
the best song I've ever heard
i love Kongos' lyrics videos!!!!
This song really has a clear perception on a topic so rarely spoken about or so feared to be spoken about in modern day. The cultish cultures and history of religions of all kinds are so greatly represented in this song, the way people are manipulated in so many ways and played like puppets by not only religions but the society that has adapted these cult-like ways of thinking. My interpretation on the "If I could breathe" line is if as an individual, one could not worry about all the shit religions and cultures and all these extra layers of rules and schedules humanity has layered onto what used to be simple survival. Really makes you think whether urban survival with all these complicated layers of culture and systems vs plain survival like a free, wild creature is better for the mind.
Those are few too many words just to say, "I love this song, I heard it when I was high".
@@anuragparvekar36 LMAO, good point, I don't take substances or anything like that but I've been told I naturally act slowly and way too relaxed as if I were high on default pfft. Maybe being high is just embracing your more relaxed side and opening up about what you think, since modern urban settings tend to be harsh against slow and thoughtful approaches to life. Not sure tho, I can't say what being high is or isn't with no experience
@@cryppi1510 haha! Ride On!
Have a good time
@@anuragparvekar36 man you high or sometin *hits bong*
I mean that’s a respectable take, but if you actually study religion, it usually eludes to the psychology of a people group outside of social constructs and how a certain group might perceive the world. A good portion of religions that weren’t influenced by others were born from lessons and stories told by word-of-mouth, making them something apart from society. It wasn’t until modernity and the combination of Society and religion spawned axioms rather than theology, that you can probably say that religion is akin to a cult.
The Video added a lot to the song that was already amazing, Great Job
Wha.. why can I feel my soul jumping without moving a particle… x_x🤘
Where have you been for all these years…
2:04 to 2:38 editing is Genius
Especially the "repetition is key" part where Multiple sentences emerged into singularity.
what is this song about
@@sla3545 Late answer but my view of this song is that its shining light on the trauma religion can bring and feeling of being held back by religion. Its pretty much a song being critic about religion
I love their songs I’ve been listening to them for anout 3-4 years and they have such a unique style of music I love them
Funny how a song gets stuck with you like it's your theme song
Seven years down the line
Seven years since I changed a large number of headphones, but this song remains in each of them.
Holy shit, its awesome.
Another gem is found ❤❤❤❤
underrated
You are amazing.one day every nation will be your fans.keep making good music and always be unique
This song stirs special feelings in my body
Wow, what an excellent work, I was looking for “the weeknd song, Repeat after me” then I mistakenly click this one, and oh boy, I just love this song 🙌🏽
This song is really unique, ive been listening on repeat.
I Had to listen to this song on repeat for over a month before i got my fix. What an awesome song. Big up to the Kongo's for fantastic music.
Two years later on my repeat think YT stopped counting my views .. lol
Jesse. My name is Candace. I live in Calgary and missed your last concert. (insufficient funds) anyhow I think you are one of the the most rockin talented coolest family ever. And yes I have mad Crush.
Absolutely by far the greatest song and video. My anthem
This is super interesting- I've never heard a song on this subject before! I'm personally religious myself (I'm part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), but I totally can understand where all of this is coming from
I love KONGOS and I only just heard this song today! I feel like a lot of people use religion to discriminate against others and to justify their actions, even if they're unwarranted and bad. What a cool take!
Then I also suggest you to check out Delusion from Falconer.
They are and this is biggest mistake human does their human brothers.the RELIGION which you all call on this planet was not set up for this purpose on this planet.the one intentions was to unite the whole and bring the whole as a ONE in front of the ONE......Human likes to change/turn the things unimaginable way which is separates them from each other from every living thing on this planet.
The thing you look death actually living next to you if you can not see this with your so called religion then throw that religion called things so you can All unite with other ONES in the universe the with the ONLY ONE
Remember, if you're an apostate in need, there are resources out there for you. People you can call or talk to via messaging, other people like you that can help you feel welcome. We understand the pain of losing so many of the people you thought were close and would always be there to help you. Trust me, we're not alone.
I keep coming back. This song is so ridiculously good and drives the point home better than any other song I've heard.
Is it just me or is this song about religion from beginning of time and how we can't give it up and how it holds us back ?
Not only about religion
i like your spells. its neat to understand what yous guys cast. thanks for doing the right thing, the correct way, and being consistent.
AMAZING and god i hope for one day to reach this level of editing, so smooth
Can't wait to see you guys in Glasgow next month
IT'S SO FREACKING GOOD ! Well done !! It's on repeat :)
Please tour!!! Atlanta needs a live show :)
I don't know why but every Kongos song I listen to needs its time to grow on me. At first i don't like them that much, but like the song said: repetition is key
Emily same with this song for me and come with me now aswell
This song cured my headache.
This band is seriously underrated!! How many proper bands who actually play instruments are left? This is what pure artists are made of! The song is fucken great!!
This video needs to be in a 360 VR view.
nobody uses xbox 360 for anything anymore..
This is perfection in a song
Saw this in one of those videos "songs for people with a religious trauma" with hozier and I just went " oh this hits hard-"
Can't get that intro out of my head, so damn good! Reminds me of something too..
My favourite song on this album. SO tough and deep. I dream and beg about Kongos tour in Russia.
I love the rhymes in this song they are just so smooth😍.I love you guys and your music so much
Wow this song is sick! deserves way more views if you ask me

You know this is a LYRIC VIDEO , right?
@@crifii6442 Lets be honest. reading those lyrics in the video is a bit fucked...
Just found you. You are a amazing band just for the percussion and base lines alone, and you just push it to be that much better!
Listen to it on repeat.

Absolutely love this song. Definitely my favourite from the Egomaniac album. The bass, the beat, the lyrics and the melody were all spot on. Keep up the good work, Kongos. Although 1929 was a bit of a let-down. :(
I remember dropping acid ane listen to this and a couple more of kongos song with my pals. I felt a tribal sensation, like i was back to the cave era yk, it was an intense trip but thats whats i remember. Interesting tho for being the first time.
