Just bought myself one of these in Black and WOW what a bass! By far THE best sounding passive bass I've owned, beats all the Fender P's and J's hands down!

Hi.. I wanted to order a lakland Darryl Jones 4 string on thomann it costs 1900 euro.. But it's crafted in Indonesia... I don't feel confident paying 1900 euro for something that is not made in USA or Europe, now I'm thinking of buying a Sandberg bass.. I heard they are excellent... Same budget.. 2k but made in Germany.. Yes sir.. For me the choice is made..

      Man, 1st & foremost I think I get you
My main basses are an American Stingray Special 5 and a German Sadowsky custom made 5
      1st one is 3,100.00 and 2nd one 3,900.00 worth
Then I also have Indo Sterlings sure way cheaper than that Lakland Skyline you mentioned
Anyway consider that in both indonesian and american (Fender) facilities, everything is mechanical and standardized, while us Fender custom shop and/or masterbuilt models cost just like us made Laklands (4,000/5,000/6,000/7,000 each dependin’ on the very model)
So you should compare indo lakland “standard” range of products (and price tags) to us “standard” cnc made range of products (performer/professional) and the price (and overall quality) is I think comparable

Let me tell you something :D I own a Sandberg Electra TT4 made in germany and an Ibanez SR Premium, made by Cort in Indonesia obviously. Literally everything about the Ibanez is better. The finishing work on the Sandberg had blemishes, electronics SUCK (swapping them right now), pickups are underwhelming. Glossy neck (who needs that?), way to high ratio tuners and unintuitive bridge design. Still an awesome bass. But the Ibanez doesn't take the cake, it takes the party. Better tuners, aguilar DCB pickups, great 3-band electronics that add to the sound, and don't make the sound. But I don't like the bridge on the Ibanez either (this stupid monorail nonsense makes me go nuts). Finishing work, attention to detail and wood selection is just better than my Sandberg, no way around that!
But seriously... The quality control coming out of indonesia is nearly second to none. They do some amazing stuff nowadays and should be considered as high quality as made in EU or USA. As labour costs are significantly lower in Asia, people tend to assess made in Indonesia instruments wrong. Only because they also make less expensive stuff that doesn't mean they aren't able to produce high quality products. Otherwise their instruments wouldn't sell... If they want to charge EU or USA prices, they gotta match or outperform their quality. And they do.
Grab a Les Paul Studio and then an Epiphone... You tell me which one is better made :D

I had Lakland and have a Sandberg. Build quality is the same, somethings are better on the Lakland. They are finished in the USA.
I had Musicman from the USA that where far more shit the Indo Laklands

@@thijsroeterink so you sold the lakland but you kept the sandberg, 😉 that's exactly my point you know.

@@newage5d831 biaz. I sold the Lakland to buy a USA Musicman. I know have a VM5. It is also wich sound you want. I can say that the tuners, bridge neck on Lakland is better then Sandberg. I just like the sound of a Sandberg VM
