  • Adele Ngoy has a remarkable presence that right away reveals her strength, creativity, and compassion. As a gifted fashion designer and business owner, she is constantly managing the balance between design inspiration and day-to-day operation, all with seeming ease. Her personal story is incredible - Adele fled a war zone with three young children and landed in Portland without speaking English. Beyond her success in the fashion business, she is deeply committed to uplifting immigrant women by teaching them new skills and through Women United Around The World, the organization that she founded to help immigrant women find independence and community connection of their own. Stay tuned for more information on the annual Women United Around The World fashion show... for now, here is Adele in her own words.

    2023 Maine Women's Project
The 2023 Maine Women’s Project, a collaboration of portraits created by the amazing Kari Herer. These portraits depict women that I’ve been lucky enough to meet in this job or women I’m lucky enough to know by working in the state of Maine. They each share their stories of living in Maine, what they think makes it special and some of their favorite spots around our state. By launching this project, Kari and I are hoping to give these women the recognition they deserve while telling their stories. We want you to catch a glimpse of life in our state through the lens of these incredible women. Some of these women are native Mainers, some are new residents, some are subtle, some are bold. All are change makers.
