You need to bolt a tool box on that cultivator to have new points, bolts, and tools for field repairs. Just buy extra tools from a garage sale or Harbor Fright so you don't worry about them. Cheaper than driving back and forth. Good to see seeds going in the ground.

The rocks are a continuing challenge, although ours are generally flat, sandstone rocks. Although, some can be the size of my kitchen table in surface area. That's one reason why I'm glad to have the Oliver backhoe now, because when I hook one of those big goonies and bring the tip near the surface, I can dig it the hell out!

Why dose Barb pick up the rocks? We had large 4 by 4 tractors. and they were set up with snow plows and in the spring we had boxes on the front. To pick up the rocks worked very good. And the females Stayed in the Kitchen to cook a amazingly great Lunch/diner It was a great time in my life and i will never forget it.
This year is my 60th crop. You have to know what is the best way to farm each farm along with each field. In our area if you farm each one the same you can screw the soil up and then it takes a couple of years to patch things up again. 😊
I always carry an extra point or two, bolts, and tools to change it in the tillage tractor. If you have it with you, chances are much better you won’t need it!
Grumpy....we got 3100 acres in Hackleburg Alabama and back in tbe 70's we always farmed like you do now. It worked for us. Our soil wasn't as rocky as yours but we had a lot of sand stone in our fields. That was many years ago and now all our property is in timber. Basically a pulp wood farm. We also have a small hunting club and the dews pay for the land taxes each year.
Quality is a issue in manufacturing. I see it daily at my job. Even companies that had a good reputation are having issues. Thank you Dr. Fuckee and your half brother Brandon.

I don't drink the kool-aid, but I do sip some. It's incredible where the old timers farmed with horses. I don't mind experimenting, but don't tell me what to do. I learn more from failure than success.
I might would rexomend going by Harbor.Freight or a farm supply store and pick you up a 8×10 tarp to keep in your truck to cover up your seed bags when its raining.

its a fucker this year still got 450 ac corn to plant 500 ac beans to go in almost 5 inches of rain this week coop was trying to spray my neighbors extremally weedy corn fields with their new hagie sprayer and were sinking in 6 inches all over the field ,talking rain again sunday and monday .
Replant this year in southern Indiana is a way of life! The rain is like never going to end. Weeds this year is just absolutely outstanding and there popping up everywhere. I’m glad I don’t have an office job at the agriculture companies. Grandson got a phone in each ear while others are taking chunks out of his ass. Their herbicide aren’t working! Holy cow did burn down in early march and can’t plant till end of may and going into June! Weeds,and more weeds coming up hourly! Hope your planting goes good and no weeds!

Osmundson used to make great points and shovels for tillage equipment, but I don't know if they are still in business. Everyone has an opinion, and sometimes they give you a new idea. Our ground is fairly heavy and rolling, and no til works most of the time. You basically trade yield for fuel and time here. $'s per acre vs bushels. 👍👍
We call them field cultivaters here in SC, neighbor was working his field year's ago with one and drove over and hit my garden with it, man did it do a beautiful job with that pulverizer roller at the back.

Yep the one thing I've learned through my years in farming and around farming, and travelling all over the country and seeing how different things are done in different areas, is that there is *NO* "one size fits all" in farming. People do different things in the same crops even just up and down the road, based on their own goals and equipment they have, skill set, or lessons learned. When you throw in different soils, different climate conditions in different areas, etc. you get big differences in different regions. If there was "one single BEST way of doing things" there wouldn't have been different ways of doing it to begin with, everybody would farm the same way with the same equipment, using the same methods and machinery, etc. Simple fact is there are ALWAYS differences, even if its just differences in the farmer and their education and skills and experiences and goals, what they believe in and want to do things, and how the can make things work or not have luck with this or that. DO what works for you. Don't close your mind to new ideas or to different ideas, but don't automatically just jump on every "latest fad" or whatever "new and improved" way of doing something just because it's new and innovative... it has to fit with what you're doing and what you have experience with and can make work, and always best to try something out on a few acres and get the bugs out of it before going "whole hog" on anything... don't be afraid to learn and experiment, but don't bet the whole farm on this or that "new thing" or "new way of doing things" until you've worked it into a system that works for you on your ground, your climate, your conditions, etc...
Around here we need tillage at times , the ground will get so hard the drill will float if you miss your tiny window of ideal moisture, you get it , I get it when you know you know. That radio station sounds great too.

We played 'make believe' farmers years ago doing our own hay with old warmed over equipt. and boarding horses so we got a taste for ourselves for a bit. Maybe that's why we appreciate folks who farm for money, not with money.

Sandy, clay, little and loum, you name it were have it. Oh ya, rocks too. We had several storms go aroud use and got mot of everything planted. Some rain now here in nw ohio blowing through. Hopefully can finish up on Thursday.

I’ve found the points lose a lot more thickness the last few years than they used to. Seems like they get so thin they either break, or you can’t flip them because the plow bolt head won’t seat on the other end.
Maybe bring back the pet rock and you will be rich, 😂. I’ve done it 3 ways this year. Regular notill into the previous years stubble, cover crops and tillage. No till is the easiest for me but after a few years we get ruts, washes etc. so we still till a few acres. Doing cover crops to break compaction. Not doing it to save on fertilizer like the “regenerative” dudes. Keep doing like you want. It’s your farm and business. Everyone farms differently.

For hard clay soil , throw a white frost looking, layer. Then work the soil. Turns hard ground soft.

are the points set at several different angles , why not carry replacement and tools in the cab , what ami missing ?.
Just curious! Does fall chiseling work in your country than 1 pass in spring with field cultivator.
It’s usually too wet in the fall to get any chisel plowing done by the time we get done harvesting

I love it I wish they made a little bit bigger model but 23 feet you can cover a lot of ground going 10 mph.
