    ----------------------------------------------
    I’m so weak. After months and months of proudly claiming that I would be avoiding the 737 MAX at all costs for at least two years, I caved. Spectacularly.
    This is footage from United Airlines flight number 1946 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Houston (IAH) aboard a two month old 737 MAX 9 (N27515).
    I had a seat in Economy Plus (9A) for this two hour flight, and it was a decent ride for sure.
    So. What do I think of the United Airlines 737-9 MAX? All I’m gonna say is that it was BETTER than I expected, and this experience helped me to rebuild my confidence in this aircraft.
    I’m so ready for my next MAX flight!

One visit to the Netherlands I even got to make one fresh... OMG, that thing was a taste explosion in my mouth!
    And here's the obligatory pronunciation paragraph. It's Strope-vafel. A "oo" in Dutch is a long oh, and the "w" is pronounced like a "v". Dutch is weird, but I have most of it figured out, I think. I should after 20 years.

    Look, I'm an airline pilot (now retired) and have thousands of hours on various B737 models. This whole "737MAX debate" was a bit over-blown to be sure. YES, the MCAS system *should* have been better explained to pilots --- especially to "third world" operators. But properly understanding what is called a "Runaway Trim" situation and corrective actions is/are basic to that airplane design. So, no...it's not really a case of a "software patch" as you stated.

      @@sanspotter Both Austin and Houston have had good snows in the past, but not frequently at all. Only 3 years ago or so , though, we had three back to back snows in Austin, with the heaviest on the south side (very little in my part of the metro). This year, we had a good snow in Austin (at least on the north side) on January 10, but the one on February 15 was by far the heaviest in my 50 years here (6-8 inches, depending on what part of the metro). Still, we can easily go years without any at all. North and west Texas, however, usually get some every year. We used to get good ice storms every year or two in the Austin area, but starting around 2000, that's become quite rare.

    What a dilemma !
    A new video from Sanspotter and Jeb Brooks on the same day...which one to watch first ? 🤔😂
    I thought the problems were with 737-max 8 ?
    Or with the software "fix" , did they rename them "Max 9", thinking it would give people more confidence ?

    • @sanspotter
      @sanspotter  Před 3 lety +1

      I recommend both - Jeb’s video was great today (as usual)! 👍🏻👍🏻 Anyway, I believe the issues were with all of the MAX models. Let’s hope they got it all sorted out. 😬🤞🏻
