I have been "through" Gravelly Valley many times, mostly driving a milk truck delivering to the resorts on Lake Pillsbury in the late 70's. I remember the stop sign and "low flying aircraft" sign, since the (gravel) road bisected the airstrip. My dad flew in a few times, but I never got the opportunity. At least one time he made a milk delivery using a rented Cessna or Piper in the early 70's, dropping off a few cases of something that was short the day before. Just called the resort owner to let him know about what time he would be there. Took off from Ukiah and made the 20 minute flight, made a low pass over the resort to let the owner know to go down to the airstrip to head over and pick it up. It sure beat the hour or so drive over very rutted, gravel logging roads. This brings back a lot of memories. Thanks, Juan! Pete, you don't know how lucky you are yet, but someday you will!

Lake Pillsbury was a fabulous place to camp. We have camped there many many times. It was once a hot bed for people with hang gliders to fly and camp down at Oak flat camp ground. That whole area has changed a lot over the last 10 plus years with multiple wild fires with the first big burn happening in 1995, the Mendenhall complex. Great place to ride dirt bikes and quads. Many people fly in to camp and the hang gliding has mostly stopped because of the USFS rules and bureaucratic non sense! It was one of my favorite places to camp and now it is the last place I want to camp. Hope you and Pete had a good time. Thanks for sharing your experience.
