  • The training video shows a neutral bond with a 3.6 kW inverter.
The earth-neutral bond is important when used as a UPS because it changes the classification of the Inverter from a class 2 to a class 1 device

Hi. I'm sorry but I don't understand why a tutorial video is done without "purely for demo purposes".
It would be great if you voukd do a tutorial that shows exactly what should be done.
I.e. useing an inline fuse in the demonstration. What size?
Useing the correct cable? Again what size?
I find the videos informative but I'm always left wondering more than I started.
Maybe try and do the videos exactly as it should be done. That would be very helpful.
    Thank you

I think the 5kw ECCO has the same contact configuration as well. It's really annoying though as this requires a NC contactor which will constantly dissipate ~4W. Why there is no 230V output which activates a NO contactor or better integrate a N-E bond is weird. The manual is inconsistent with this video (Page 17).

Hi Keith. Great video! When running parallel inverters, is it okay for each inverter to apply a Neutral-Ground bond in each inverter? My concern is arc fault, possible ground loops. My inverters apply NG bond when in DC modes (battery or PV), but not when AC input is energized as it is assumed (in the USA) that the NG bond is in the first means of disconnect after the meter. The vendor refuses to answer my questions/concern. Thanks in advance! -Jay

recently notice that the neutral(N) wire that comes from load port has 110 voltage and the other line load (L) also have around 120 voltage, to my understand the neutral should not have voltage on it and the load should be on L only. Is this normal in my case or there is an problem with my inverter?

Hi keith, like most people are mentioning and like most other manufacturers why isnt there a contactor built in. Secondly when are sunsynk going to make all inverters uniformed to eachother rather than having to have dry contacts in 3.6/5kw, hot contacts in 8kw and then in the three phase not needing either. Sunsynk are great at something but ignorant a lot of others. You should be asking electricians and installers what they think.

  • @Dino_Bianchi

    How to choose the contactor?
How many amperes must the contacts carry for a 8kW inverter: is just a reference to the earth or they should be rated at 40 A?

To Steve and Keith, if I may,
is your grid neutral and load neutral bonded at any point?
My installation of 2x 5kw with 11kw/ 2 battery would trip the mains with a clear short/ arc on the master Inverter grid terminals about 30sec switched on for the first time.
After a thorough inspection with the supplier technician, we found the Inverter load neutral terminal and grid live terminal ring out.
AT THIS POINT THE SYSTEM WAS CONNECTED WITH THE CT and no external neutral bonding. I must mention the system worked fine on battery back up prior the dead short, ran a load @1.3kw
the issue arrised -+ 30 sec after switching grid On.
To my surprise during the inspection the technician suggested/ instructed me to bond output and input neutral BEFORE THE E/L and disconnect CT. According to his words
" the is a build in check CT for feed back just get the Zero export on settings "
Currently running and waiting on the replacement unit.
My friend at the Muni was not happy when I told h this as we both know feed back or reference neutral is dangerous to when working on MV lines . I would like to rectify this but I'm a bit puzzled with the bonding story.
    Please assist where possible.
    Thanks

Hi Keith, I had a 10Kw Sunsynk Inverter and Battery system (2 x5kw paralleled) installed for my house in South Africa. After a week one of the inverters failed and had something burning smell coming from it. The company that installed the system replaced the inverter as they thought it was a faulty inverter. almost two weeks later the new inverter failed exactly the same. The company that installed the inverter and the supplier came to my property to investigate. They said let's try get a bigger inverter so they removed both inverters and installed the 16kwa. Not even two weeks old the new 16kw inverter has failed and has burning smell coming from it! I have spent hundred of thousands of Rands and it keeps failing!

This this a very talented and technically skilled individual no doubt. However it is very apparent that there has been no preparation what so ever. Missing sockets, incorrect cables, repeating things like for demo purposes, etc etc. Minimum effort never come across as professional and just winging it will never be as clear and understandable as going from the script.
