It does, I miss being a kid but at the same time I hated school and having to listen to other people tell me what to do so it’s kinda 50/50 but having no worries and just being happy watching tv and eating snacks was nice.
My grandfather actually bought and donated a parachute from a military surplus for the school for this exact thing back in the late 70's he was principal at the elementary school until 2000. When I got there in 2004 they were still using the same one. I know because my gym teacher told me, he was a kid when my pawpaw bought it for their class.
I’m Mexican so I never experienced this. My elementary “nostalgia” is playing dodgeball and screaming while I leapt off flights of stairs, jumped of walls, ran into classrooms and almost knocking over toddlers (the school was also a kindergarten). Then you’d team up with a friend to survive, and while you run you hear them fall and begin to cry behind you, yet you have no choice but to keep going because they’re now a dead man 💀💀 I love how over the top it always was. American schools don’t let y’all have real fun. Im sure my elementary would not exist in the US becuase it would be considered a safety hazard 😂😂 but nah bro, that’s what made it so fun. If you tripped on the 30 step long flight of cement stairs you were cracking your head open, so you’d run like your life depended on it

My "childhood" has to go on pause. Ever since I was 11 there was nothing I could do except use the internet and see my family. It's going to be that way until I'm atleast 19 whether or not I like it. And things have to get quite bad for me to escape the isolation or lack of any type of human interaction with people my age level as early as 19

I used to imagine the parachute “hugging” the whole class and bringing us together as a sign of family and friendship, and how we’re all connected. I would watch how every kid had their own ray of color, forming the circle and connecting us all.
I imagined it as an all-knowing being knowing which child will follow the right path and which will follow the wrong. Within the swallowing of the children, it will pick a certain amount of children to display a color behind them that truly means their path in life.
Ugh I swear I get sad every time I see something that reminds me of my childhood memories just gives me that vibe like damn I sure do miss those good old times🥺

This genuinely made me tear up. The last time I did this was also the same day my cat died. I remember it because I came home from field day 4th grade a looking for my cat and she was missing. I asked my mom about it, then she told me. I cried myself to sleep that night. That was 5 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

Field Day was the BEST time in elementary school. A full day of playing different events outside. Elementary school was 30 years ago for me but I remember it like yesterday ❤
I'm 63 years old and I remember doing this in grade school with a parachute one of the teachers' husbands had sent her from Vietnam. This was one of the most memorable moments for me. These are the things that make exercise fun for kids. The color of the chute has nothing to do it. Its the behavior of the chute when every kid is working together toward the common goal. Its a fun way to teach teamwork and the benefit of following instruction/rules/orders...and a great workout. ;)

Yea me too I was a 6th grade and I was mental breakdown all memories 5th graders and retired teacher and moved teacher
I missed it too so I brought it back to my children's dance and creative movement classes that I teach. I may have more fun than the children! 😂

Playing sharks with these in gym was always fun in elementary school..whether you were the one underneath, pulling your best friend's legs or the one getting grabbed. Lots of good laughs, I'm 22 now..wish I could go back to being 9.
