Hey everyone. I know the audio on the first four installments of this project somehow posted loud. If I could adjust the volume post upload, or if I could replace it with a new version with lower volume I would (I do not think it is possible but if someone out here knows how please do tell). The volume is changed in the last few installments. So for now... sorry for the audio inconvenience, just turn it down a couple of notches during the music, thanks.

Sure, the volume was loud, but the music was weird and didn't go with the project. It wasn't good music. Not a hater, so chill. Just not good music choice.

Music, as with most things in life is a matter of taste. Personally, I also have my dislikes. However, we all can't get everything we encounter to fit perfectly to our own taste, it's a fact of life. You can please some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time. You can never please all of the people all of the time. I enjoyed this video and appreciate his acknowledgement of the audio issues, that he is willing to correct going forward. Thank you for letting us into your life to see how it's done, your willingness to learn should be an inspiration to us all.

This is a perfect fit for Tally Ho. Apart from sea shantys and hornpipes for the crew's entertainment a fiddler was often employed on square riggers of the 18th and 19th centuries to time the hauling of sheets and braces and capstan winding to weigh anchor in a timely manner, especially in the British Navy warships of that era. This will be an important part of Tally Ho's sailing equipment.

On the difference between a violin and a fiddle:
    True story.
    Question in a physics test:
If the bow is moved twice as fast across the strings:
*The sound gets higher in pitch
    *The sound gets louder
    * The sound stays the same
Write in answer that got an extra point by the teacher:
"The violin turns into a fiddle"

This is the first time I saw a fiddle being built. Your iron forms the sides and their shape transforms them from delicate strips to rock solid frames. I want to learn more.

It is such a fun process. I will be sharing more process videos of the project for sure. I did an apprenticeship to learn the craft. So many steps and things to learn.

This was a completely fortuitous find!! Rally Ho captivated me from the very beginning - such a monumental task undertaken by a extraordinary group of people led by Leo Sampson. It has developed an almost cult following due to the level of drive and unerring attention to detail and quality. Your work seems to fit with this mindset - bravo!! Fiddles are indelibly part of the maritime narrative - what a brilliant idea to compliment an important project. I'll definitely be following the TH fiddle construction.

The difference between a violin and a fiddle; a violin has strings, a fiddle has strangs.

Love this. There is a joy in using and even watching others using hand tools. Thirty years ago I was so wanting a side rebate plane and paid what I thought was a fortune for a new Record side rebate plane-no regrets, such a good tool.

New viewer and subscriber today. I been following Leo's channel, so of course your channel popped up. And as a former violin player (I'm old now with arthritis, so can't play worth anything anymore), I find it fascinating to watch a skilled builder put together a new fiddle from the beginning...and using cutoffs from the Tally Ho! Great stuff. Thanks for taking the time to video and share this project.

Thanks I appreciate it! Im sorry violin playing is over for you. I have a mom that is a craftsperson with rheumatoid arthritis, I know what it is like to close a chapter like that.
