Net Dipping For Smelts

Sorry for the late videos this year. Work has been crazy & we finally have time to go out and shoot a video on an event that doesn’t happen every year, dipping for smelts. If we let this continue there will be no more smelting in the united states. I love smelting in NH but because of over fishing there’s only 1 place left to do it.

We have a limit of 10 pounds per person, only if the smelt run is good.

However, each person needs to be fishing their own catch, not the best fishermen filling up everyone else’s limits….

The place where most people park is called Sun’s Teriyaki in Kelso Washington. It’s next to Cowlitz River. You’ll want to check on Washingtons Dept. of Fish & Wildlife’s website for the next date on smelt dipping. The spawn run is over so you’ll have to wait until next year. For future episodes on smelt dipping I’ll do a video a week before they release the date so our subscribers will be ready to go smelt dipping.
