This little moovie is a gem
"I think I like you better than I think I do." Had me at that line. "My mother didn't leave me much. But she left it in all the right places." Zing! And the one-man-band accordion player with the assistant flyswatter is genius. So much local colour, this movie is great.
Smiley Burnette…
Another fine movie from the 30's, the greatest decade ever.
Very Entertaining movie& Fun to Watch!! I did Not know anything about Barbara Pepper until I saw one of the comments below. She reminded me of Jean Harlow.Thanks,again,PizzaFlix4 Sharing this Good Movie!!
A great cast makes this an entertaining little movie.
Nice film and my gosh, I would die for the dresses !!!
Oh this is really worth restoring in a film lab! Great film, reasonably authentic topic of gambling ships just outside US territorial waters. And cant forget that vicious fight scene, either. Man, Ann was a cutie!!!
We need Truant officers again.
Definitely one of the better "low-budget" movies of that decade. A good director who knows how to get the most out of a slim budget, is a great asset. Add a good writer and actors who know what they're doing, and you have success. There are literally thousands of films out there, that are so bad, you wonder how anybody could con a producer to finance them. Good download PIZZA, thanks!!
I know it is pretty randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released series online ?
@Cohen Junior i use Flixportal. You can find it by googling =)
@Ahmir Samson yup, have been watching on Flixportal for months myself :)
@Ahmir Samson thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) Appreciate it!!
@Cohen Junior no problem :)
Cute movie! Wow, Barbara Pepper was stunning!
Ah, she really was hot stuff back then, but after her husband died she fell into drink and gained weight. She died of heart failure.
Great lines: "Cupid must have shot you with a machine gun." Frank Albertson bears more than a passing resemblance to a young Robert Redford.
Loved it. Thanks!
I always recognize Barbara Pepper in these early pictures. She was quite a looker in her youth. Her Green Acres stint was a great way for her to recapture her past as a woman with conviction and brawn. Despite the toll the years took on her figure her youth is still in her performance as Mrs. Ziffel.
Man this looks good I'm happy I found it. I prefer black and white a lot of the time
Enjoyable old black and white movie. Interesting script.
I can't believe it! The blue eyed blond: Barbara Pepper - went on to play the wife of Fred Ziffel in "Green Acres." She was absolutely gorgeous here, but living a tough life did her in, especially when her husband died leaving her to fend for herself and raise 2 young boys. Read up, as she had a very interesting life.
He didn't Leave. Her husband died in a motorcycle accident
You didn't read my comment correctly.
Sorry but I can't allow this obvious mistake to be picked up and become 'error by word of mouth'. It would be a an insult to Eva Gabor, who in fact played that part and became a 'featured' guest on the Merv Griffin talk show, because it allowed her to develop a real following as a natural comedian....Just saying ......
Sorry I have made a mistake --- disregard my comments....lol
Oh yeah because a husband dying is like doing a bad deed to the poor female. Give me a break.
That was cute; Thank-You!
This film was produced by Mascot pictures which in a year or two became Republic pictures world famous for their serials and westerns!
Naturally a clean movie having a right scipt.
That was a fun movie. This was the second time I've seen it.
A deep cast in a great ‘B’ movie. You can’t go wrong with Jack LaRue in your movie.
Ann was only 18 when she did this film.
Her voice suggests that. She was born in 1917.

They made a poor choice with the title. I almost didn't watch this - so glad I did.
Even though I wasn't born when this movie was made and others like this one I remember watching these movies on TV on the Late show and the Late Late show when I was a teen.
My opinion is most of what I see on TV sucks.

Same. I sow a lot of this old american moovies on french TV in the 60. I loved thise miovies and still do. 30 40 and 50 were great ! The 60 70 are great too but they already lose .innocence but now days 80% of the moovies suck..french moovies are a disaster. Actresses are gross, they can't articulate sentences properly, when they are pretty they love to make them look ugly, bitter, angry, histerical, male actors same, no more beauty, innocence, genuine fun. They are propaganda. Stupid scenari and a lot of political agenda. Absolutely disgusting,
Love this movie. Had me laughing.
Great movie thanks. Last place I Was thinking to see a goat, at the waterfront.
Ward Bond! Thanks.
jane a sinner LP
omg. marilyn monroe, roll over. who the what the, is her name ann rutherford? to die for. wowsa
I agree about Barbara Pepper. She was much under-rated in her younger days. Not that I ever lusted after her flesh, you understand.

Great casting no Robert Redford though.
(Thank GOD!)
I just love those 1930's girls in their white satin gowns and sliver blond hair...yummy!
