This reminds of an episode Tony was getting back from the hospital and beats up a guy for almost no reason. It's to show who's the boss, they can't loose even a tiny bit of respect among the others. If there was no one else around he probably wouldn't beat him. They ALWAYS have to look very though to the others, all the time.
