    Very informative video as someone whos on universal credit for years this is what they dont tell you , they cause stress and anxiety , it can be taken away instantly and you can be forced to go on the work programme and you have to deal with advisors who are almost useless and will make it harder to keep your benifit.

      I was suicidal, literally had to stop going into the job centre and told them to end it, I'm living off savings and don't even pay NI contributions, luckily I can live with my parents but they won't be here forever, I feel genuinely a lot better since stopping going in, job centres feel like a prison, it's a horrible nasty environment where bullying and verbal abuse has been normalised by DWP staff and managers. I was forced onto the original work programme and guess what? there was no job at the end of it 9-5 searching for crappy jobs all day, worst 3 months of my entire life, I still occassionally have nightmares and night sweats about the experience, I had things stolen from me from other people fresh out of prison on the same course, and was mocked for not making enough eye contact by advisors there in some mock interviews they did, it didn't give me confidence at all, just destroyed me mentally.

I have a question, I've just done the phone interview and now I have a meeting with a work coach at the job centre and it's called a commitment meeting... Do you know what they will ask and what I need to bring? Thank you :)

    • @RevorecRecruitmentSolutions
      @RevorecRecruitmentSolutions  Před 3 lety +1

      The commitment is more about are you committed to getting a job in their eyes as opposed to trying to play the system. These are tick box exersizes carried out by a pen pusher who will be more interested in getting you in and out quickly. Your approach should be simple answers indicating that you have tried to get a job, but no success and you need UC as you do not have any other means of income or savings plus no family or friends can or are willing to help you financially. Keep it simple but they just want the boxes ticked to re-affirm and approval

    • @RevorecRecruitmentSolutions
      @RevorecRecruitmentSolutions  Před 3 lety +1

      Firstly good luck with trying to grow your channel. As for the UC income the problem you have is that in their eyes, if you want UC money which is effectively tax payer funds, then they want to see evidence you're not trying to do everything you can not to need it for long. Whilst your intentions are legitimate, in essence you are asking for taxpayer money to try to grow your own business. That's not seen as something UC want to be funding. My best advice would be that you'll be better served taking an evening or part time job as you're going to get hounded by UC otherwise.

But to be fair I can understand why as your house equity is a financial asset so by paying UC the government is giving you tax money that youll profit upon. UC is meant to be a temporary benefit or for ppl in financial need. Not to pay mortgages. So as much as I feel for you your not going to get much as you have a financial asset in a mortgage.

And once UC get notified that someone is no longer eligible for UC they stop paying, even if in theory as in your example, they owe a week. It is there to force people into work and not worry about whether the work is suitable for them or not. They sanction people for the most trivial of reasons. You have to wait 5 weeks to receive any money, pushing people into abject poverty, or you can apply for an advance (which you have to pay back) and end up not being able to make ends meets. This shit has failed in every category it was allegedly meant to meet, but this apology for a government still persist with it.

The experience has been bad so far, i put that i didn't have housing costs or children and it said i live alone when i live with my parents, took me hours to figure out that it says i live alone because I'm not claiming for anyone else, when trying to verify my identity i had to disabled my ad blockers and enable cookies to get the website to work.
    Iv heard that they try and get you to apply for bad jobs that you don't want to do or aren't suitable for, if i keep applying to jobs that i want to do and keep it updated in the journal section will this be proof enough that I'm looking for work without them intervening?

      Basically the work coach is looking to see you applying for jobs. Thats the target box ticked. So applying for naff jobs is what theyll encourage you to do. HMRC arent worried about you being happy or not. Its purely a tick box exersize to get more tax takers into tax makers. In the nicest way youll probably have to take a naff job now and keep applying for something better. You can try and play the system and wait until you find something you want but the longer you dont work and claim UC the better employees wont take you as a serious candidate. If youve been looking 6 months and had 1 interview its probably a good indicator your chances of getting a job doing what you want now isnt likely. Best advice take the best of the worst jobs you can find and keep applying for the right jobs. Itll take a while but at least theyll see your working. To get the job you want is more of a stepping stone process.

      UC is generally recalculated by computer automatically every month. If there is a change with your household income it'll correct itself. Legacy benefits paid weekly
      52 payments a year
      U/C paid monthly up to a max of 12 payments a year
      Four weeks in a month
      12 x 4 = 48 weeks
      Four weeks short every year
      Same applies to housing benefit
      Also people on UC must pay a percentage of council tax
      This wasn't the case with legacy benefits
      One of the factors why poll tax was scrapped
      Being the fact the unemployed could not afford to pay it
      A single person on U/C gets the same amount as a single person on ESA
      The benefit of pushing people on to
      ESA is it makes the unemployment figures look better

People who are ill should be phoned/visited by a HEALTH coach every year, NOT harassed every month/fortnight to get sick notes from some doctors who even refuse to give sick notes, and then they are told to look at the job-markets when some are even too ill to go on there laptop or take a shower. I hope it goes to hell along with all their staff. The UC staff PLAY TRUANT just as much as any benefit cheats because rather than get a NORMAL job, they get paid wages for mentally harassing us on a phone leading to an increase in nervous breakdowns, suicides and people who can't support their own family. FACT; The staff are not even trained to deal with health issues! Instead they phone everyone including the vulnerable and the sick to try to get them working in the middle of a deadly pandemic when nearly every place is closed and their own government has told us all to STAY AT HOME!! The UC staff are even risking lives by telling people to use public transport when the government has given STAY AT HOME orders!!!

      Hi, the system makes people think they are 'claiming benefits' from the Government, however if you have contributed to the system and have paid your national insurance - which is ACTUALLY YOUR insurance policy in the event of becoming unemployed ( this is what it purpose was to act as a safety net) then you are ENTITLED to claim back YOUR contribution. You have worked for over 20 years, you have paid into the system sufficiently. Whilst you were working and paying your National Insurance other were benefiting from it! So do not feel as though you are 'scrounging' off the system or you are taking anything off the Government, when claiming, you are basically claiming what is YOURS back! If you add up all that you have contributed in your National Insurance over your working life, what you would get back in 'benefits' wouldn't even be a fraction of what you actually paid in. So make sure you go and claim back what is yours, instead of having someone else claim your contributions!!

      Savings in the eyes of universal credit is literally any of your bank savings accounts. They want to see if you can use your own finances to support yourself rather than tax payer money. UC does have some extra flexibility but you are expected to follow certain obligations (job searching/part time work/proof you are trying to do certain things). It really comes down to two things. 1-Whether you will financially benefit from 1 more than the other and 2-What one works best for you. Youll need to wait to get paid and then itll get backdated. It could take 5 weeks. The only other option is to contact them and apply for an advance but theyll charge you a large interest rate for doing so.

      Im unsure what you mean. But I think you mean you started a job in march so can you apply? The answer is based on whether your income with that job is low enough to be eligible.

    Thank you for this video! Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for JSA on top of universal credit?

    • @stephendavis5530

      I'm not sure, but I don't think so as Universal Credit was designed to replace all benefits.

      You can apply for new-style JSA and if you eligible for that and universal credit you can receive both, it’s called a dual claim. Although any money you receive from new-style JSA would be deducted from your universal credit. Hope this helps

      The money for the rent if you claim will go direct to him anyway so he will end up finding out. Id advise to follow what your gut instinct says. Either front it out and risk an issue or go ahead and hope as long as he/she gets paid then who cares. Your call but theyll find out eventually
